I remember that the danish magazine "Computer" had an article where they visited the Royal Danish Airforce in Skrydstrup (Near Vojens in Denmark). They brought a Amiga with them and had a tour in the F16 Simulator they have on the base. Afterwards they talked to a Captain from US Air Force visiting Skrydstrup. They had him fly a bit in Interceptor and give his opinion of the game. I think it was Christian Sparrehon and Jakob Sloth who went to Skrydstrup.
Sigh, while i watch this video i see myself as little kid, begind the amiga on new years eve playing this game... Gives back a lot of memories... Thanks for the vid.
OH MAN.... i just got a trip in the timemachine back to 1990 where I bought my A500 and this game... I spend every free hour playing this...
I remember it had a bug though... The enemy carrier could not be sunk so you would get stuck at mission 6 or 7. I managed to get the carrier landing right every time after a LOT of practice. When I had the F18 landing right I started to do carrier landing with the F16. It was possible by landing as far back as possible almost stalling the plane.
@Guerillasmurf true i cant kill the enemy carrier on one of the missions. its the reason i keep wanting to play this game again so i can figure out how to kill em. sadly my amiga is not with me anymore. also lost the flight disc. :( i wonder if theres like a digital flight disc around
@brettv8 Yes for sure i remember that. Mine was all fuzzy on the edges af excessive use.
A couple of days ago I loaded a A500 emulator on my PC and found a good copy of FA-18.
I was astonished, that after soo many years of not playing FA-18, I was able to land on the carrier at first try. (Qualification Mission). I performed all the right steps like when I was 14 again, and had played every day for 6 month. I think it is 19 years ago I last started of the carrier to shoot some bandits.
Oh man this demo ran in on an Amiga in a store window. We drooled over it every day. Finally got the game, the graphics were revolutionary for a home computer. And I finished all the missions, even landed on the carrier :)
This program got me into Flight simming. Had been a real pilot for sometime and saw this on a friend's Amiga. That was it...I had to have it. Bought the system and program and spent every waking moment on this.
I then got a hold of one of the very first Flight Sim games that featured a Cessna. It sucked but was a step in the right direction. Finally made the jump to PC in about 96 or so. When FS 98 came out that was the real eye-opener...for the time.
i remember this well, i had it on my amigas but i could never kill the boats or rescue the downed pilot in the water, i was a good carrier lander tho lol
@Mubble Just watched this vid now... I loved that game so much... did you have to land on the carrier to access the missions? at the time i wished there was more than 6 missions.. but lookin back i didnt realise how advanced the game was, considering it could fit on a single Floppy disk...
@Mac11irl - I really can't remember. Last time I played this was about 18 years ago. I didn't do many of the missions, I just used to free flight four hours on end.
@Mubble Just do what I used to - after takeoff, do a huge loop without any banking left or right and you'll be dead in-line with the carrier. No fuss, no muss!

@Guerillasmurf And you will remember the card board wheel that came with it to get a code(anti piracy measures)?
