my rome total war is fucked , for some reason when i install the patches my game (from my disc) loads a different 1.5 with saves ive had before but when i go to load them it crashes , now when i install the 1.5 than use the launch rome total war at the end it works fine i don't get why that is cause everytime i wanna play i gotta install patch 1.5 or reinstall whatever and its annoying

heir, try next time to avoid putting ranged units on the rear of your battle line, thats what caused your phalanx severe damage and killed sevrel many of them.

yea the ai isnt hard on harder difficulties, especially wen u let them charge into ur hoplites and then send cavalry around and hit them in the back, they rout within seconds lol

you should of put your spears down and let them come up the hill, got your archers to fire arrows and got your gen unit and all the rest of your troops doing nothing to hit it on the flanks.

i get 2 cavalary and hit both flanks, while some of my units are on the left and some on the right and a few going straight towards them to distract them, and i get spear throwers and archers to just fire on them.

Your hoplites arnt in phalanx form most of the time btw...thats why so many of them died...it looked like you waited till your hops engaged the romans and then you phalanx them, which makes them act retarded for a few secs and then they go into formation

I can beat a large ai army with only a few slingers n missile cavalry, simple really just focus on single units; wear em down, go do another unit wear em down etc...although i dont only have those units, i always have good quality infantry n cavalry ready, i just send my missile throwers to cause some casualties first, though i dont think i can win against a human player of equal or better skill

Thanks, helped me a lot! Still holding Syracuse from both Carthage and the Romans... Several attacks but, the rest of my towns are fine. I have been sending a steady supply of ballistas etc. to help defend it but, they keep on coming hard and strong.

The best way with phalax armies is to look for a piece of high ground, and hopefull the highest peak is in a field corner. That way 1) you cannot be outflankes and 2) the enemy will be tired /exhausted when they get to you.

Second thing is to get enough support units (missiles and cavalry). With greeks its a little hard in early game though, so I stand by my example above.

The whole Civ series has the same problem with OP troops as the diff goes up. The Egyptian Chariot in Civ 3 is the prime example. Comp just does chariot spam till your dead. but my own chariots are more than crap lol

ppl were sieging my city and then i made a battle with them. I took one unit, took it outside for 5 sec. and bought it back in. Next thing u know u see a horde of them charging on my walls then stopping so I can kill them with archers. About 1000 were on the enemy side and 100 on mine. I killed about 700 and they killed none of mine.

i hate AI general bodyguards. the worst is when u play BI, and the horde armies consist of like 3-6 family members, each with their own OP bodyguards that can totally shatter anything and everything. It's quite ridiculous how cav can beat infantry by charging from the front and remain in a slug-fest and come out on top

i think to get them to move in formation you just select them all and click at a point, but if you click and drag it makes them go in a line.

When you start out the game, the most important thing is to build an archery range as fast as possible. So when you go to take over cities you can barrage them with arrows from afar instead of just charging in with soldiers and calvary. Always build archer units, try to have at least 2 archer units in each town or city. And if your city is attacked, set your archers to flame arrows and attack the siege equipment. After the siege equipment is burned the enemy will usually run away.

sir, at about 1:40 or so, when your setting your units using right mouse and dragging, and it shows the arrow for unit's facing. How do u get that arrow, as i read on the manual it said use the arrow keys but idk how.

Heir, you should definately make more campaign videos! I love seeing how other people play the game and despite calling myself a total war veteran I've learned more than a couple of things from watching you.

I personally play my campaigns with a kind of "Roleplay" aspect because just playing them gets old fast, so I try to develope a character and a story for each member of my family tree.

And also, I'd be honoured if you'd take me on online too.
