Captain America is by far the best Marvel hero. Yet Chris Evans portraying him combined with Joe Johnston directing does have me worried. The teaser has its ups and downs - definitely showing off some cool action along with following the theme of realism when cinematically portraying a comic book hero. Yet the mask looks kind of awkward, and I feel because of not seeing too much or from what i've seen that the film will also either hit or really miss (as is the case of all of Johnston's movies).
@west93 he was turned super soldier during WWII, got frozen, and was unfrozen to help them at a later time (or, so the comics lead me to believe). S.H.I.E.L.D. formed the group, and he's their leader
Love Captain America and what he stands for, but this gentleman, who already (WTF?) appeared as the Human Torch, will have to go a long way to stand up here. )PS, they are killing off Torch in FF 589(?) this month. Cap is lawful (vs Batman's vigilantism, but the point is, he's "buff", intense and serious as a heart attack in his work clothes. Who should do it? John Cena if he could act, Matt Deamon if he was bigger, Mel Gibson if he was younger... Tough Choice, but they could have done better.
Superman and Batman Whips in no particular order..X-Men, Fantastic 4, Hulk, Ghost Rider, Spiderman, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Dare Devil, Punisher and day of the week. PERIOD.
@Danny022479 -Superman movies are as boring as they get, but Batman movies are usually interesting. The thing about DC is that it's heroes usually suffer from even trying to make sense powers and origins wise. (I do collect both, but Marvel is my mainstay). The truth is, most superheroe movies spend most of their time introducing decades worth of origins material to those who don't know comics. Ironman and Batmans recent were fun. When origins themes stop, movies will get better. (PERIOD)
The super soldier formula makes him age much slower, so in 2010 he'll pretty much look no older than 40... :) that's how it works in the comics (if I remember correctly)
@H3LL0 yes that is treue, but in the comics he was thrown into the ocean by the red skull where he was frozen in the artic circle. until present day where they found him and thawed him out. he survived because of the serum
@Acoustictuning49 Actually thats not correct. He and Bucky raided a secret base of Baron Zemo when he was planning to launch a experimental drone bomb on the allies. Cap and Bucky succeeded in destroying Zemo's plan but not before he launched the drone. Cap and Bucky got on board but it blew up over the North Atlantic killing Bucky (supposedly) and throwing Cap into the frozen water to be frozen only to be found 20 years later by the Avengers who were out looking for Sub Mariner.
@the60sKid thats basically the same thing I just said minus some of the details. the point is he is found in the ice, thats how he bridges the gap between then and now
Positieve thing about comic -book superheroes that go to movies is that it looks freaking awesome! Negatieve thing is that all the freaking random people who don't read comic-books they will think after they see this movie that they know something about comic-books!
Example: People who watch alot of The big bang theory and don't read comic-books they think they know something about The Flash, Green Lantern ect... !
@JonaManGamer Movie studios who make comic book adaptations don't give a rats about comic book reader's opinions about wehther random movie attendees who think they know about comic book super heroes.
All they care about is bums on seats and the dollars that come in as a result.
Sorry but XMen trailer is way better. But then again this is only around 30 secs so it still has hope.
