  • That breathy "exactly" by Charlie Rose at 1:44 sounded so gay.

  • lol, he knows how to keep the American think neutral of Singapore :p

  • charlie sheen is a joke....fareed zakaria's interview on cnn seemed more polished and professional...LKY can be so addictive though...u just wanna hear him..

  • @thinktok

I never knew GIC is a private compaany.

What are you trying to drive at?

Simple .... LKY uses public/superannuation/taxes for to finance a private business. In normal democratic countries this would be corruption. Such behaviour only accepted in Zimbabwe, Burma, Fiji, Vanuatu, Saudi Arabia just to name a few.

  • A very pragmatic genius. No wonder Singapore is so well managed and rich. He is candid and shows great grasp of world affairs and manoevre Singapore to ride the surfs. Without foreign talent, Singapore will be greatly disadvantaged in this globalised world.

  • Chinese has 5K years' civilization, we'd rather US leave us alone. Don't tell us what to do.

  • This is because unlcle Lee did alots of homework. He is hiding something...thats y he laugh. He know the truth but he just twist the fact that can make the american happy :). The answer from uncle lee is not 100%, you have to see yourself. Good job uncle Lee, i love the way you talk.

  • Lee is not a stateman. His political stance has done the following in Singapore:

    1. Lee owns a PRIVATE company called the "Singapore Government Investment Corporation" which uses PUBLIC taxpayers money. No accountability to parliament, no questions allowed. Where do the profits go?

    2. Lee made his son the Prime Minister.

    3. This same son is also Minister for Finance, who in turn gives daddy Sing$100b to play with in private company (see point 1)

    4. The son's wife controls Temasek Holdings.

  • I don't know If Charlie Rose is big wherever he is from..but Cant help but think from the video, Charlie rose made a fool out of himself.. Lee Kuan Yew had a good many laughs at his simplistic understanding.

  • Brilliant mind.

  • incredible insights.. he knows what he is saying..

  • What a brilliant man..truly admire him.

  • i'd like to see someone debate the war on drugs with him

  • @bfq3000 hahaha i'm curious too.

  • @bfq3000 He would clean their clocks. The problem is that his proposed policy tools (like a mandatory death penalty for trafficking and possession) are political non-starters in the U.S. and almost certainly unconstitutional under current 8th Amendment jurisprudence, which generally bars capital punishment for crimes that did not result in death. See, e.g., Coker v. Georgia and Kennedy v. Louisiana. That's why the United States is forever doomed to half-measures in its 'war on drugs.'

  • when americans tell China they ought to do this and do that, the chinese at the back of the mind thinks "We have survived 5000 years. Have you?"

Wow. Brilliant. Still sharp at 85. What a legend !

  • 5 thousand years of waiting. Very scary.

  • @shoexy As far as I know, china began to be left behind the west since the middle of Qing dynasty around 1800, and in my opinion what china doing around the world is just trying to regain the lost confidence of chinese peoples and the country by behaving itself and be a bigger contributer to the world. It is like doing a last week unfinished homework in order to catch up with the others...It's just that simple.

  • @jiangyz214 In the entire history of China it's always war and chaotic and Chinese fighting against each other, because certain emperor or ruler believed that were the correct person to bring peace and prosperity to the nation. The western invasion you mentioned and world war worsen it all.

  • @jiangyz214 All these history and natural disaster were hell for Chinese but it also attributed to their ability such as extremely hardworking, good adaptability and etc... Many may think its an innate ability and it could be true if you apply the evolution theory or survival of the fittest.

All Chinese need now is to have a good government to steer them to success and hopefully it can be extended to as long as possible.
