i grew up on the Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Bambi. and i must say, after re-watching all of them as an adult, Lion king is a bit overrated.

i grew up on this film, but the movie that i believe really "shaped" me and gave me a romantic soul was BatB :) it taught me alot: don't judge by one's looks, be independed, don't be afraid to be different, beauty lies within. and don't get me wrong, i LOVE the Lion King- nostalgia!

I am actually glad that the Lion King is not #1. I think that most people only like it as much as they do because they grew up watching it. I also grew up watching it, and I always thought it was my favorite Disney movie until I began watching them again now that I am older. Lion King isn't even in my top five. The story just isn't as good and it doesn't send as good a message as other Disney movies do. My favorites are Hunchback, Mulan, and Pocahontas. Beauty and the Beast is up there too.
