I live in a big city ten months a year and I like it, but I always look forward to coming back home to choice city every summer. Fort Collins will always be my welcome mat home, and I can see a whole life ahead of me here in FoCo.
I moved to Fort collins and lived there for 2 years. I didn't like anything about it. I moved right back to jersey and kissed the ground when I got home. Then I walked outside and inhaled as much polluted air as possible. Fort Collins is a beautiful place but it wasn't for me.
I love it here in FoCO. I've lived all across the states, and nowhere else has it felt like home other than here. Old Town is really nice, everyone there is friendly, lots of stores to window shop, and just great scenery and smells. Being so close to the mountains, you can, almost whenever you want, go take a hike up there. When people say run for the hills, they mean FoCo.
We used to get a kick out of making fun of all the drunks at Perkins on College Ave. We used to tease the hell out of them! Back then they used to shut College Ave down with road blocks in the downtown area. You had to walk into the business district on Friday nite. Beautiful view of the city at night from any of the Horsetooth Res. dams.
Fort Collins is really a great place, however the traffic drives me crazy. Seriously, good luck trying to get anywhere quick a lot of the time. Especially during rush hour.
@crenshawjeanette im a black kid in fort collins and its not that bad there are some really dumb racist people but for the most part it doesnt make a difference.
the only reason it can be dangerous is cuz of all the bars in the same area and it really cant be considered dangerous thers jus a jakass drunk everyonce in a while
I posted this ad 4 weeks ago >(too many drunks> late night can be sketchy and dangerous in the downtown area) I was right !!!!!! Those concert goers last night showed the forts TRUE COLORS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sketchy late nite in the downtown area.
yea really im a truck driver and i delivered to the toxicology lab over there on laporte ave and i seen all the college kids walking the streets at 1 in the morn on a friday night police everywhere security guards i mean come on you walk to your dorms and stuff it would be awsome if i was in college
Whoever thinks that downtown Ft. Collins is "dangerous" is a moron! Hahaha, I'm born and raised here and I've never had a single issue nor witnessed anything dangerous down in Old Town.
loser? did you see the news after the downtown concert last night? Who is the moron? Your are in denial and obviously a fool! Keep living your virtual dream in the fort!
@niceguy1060 what are you talking about?? fort collins is not a dangerous town. In fact its rank as one of the safest towns. And its a college town theres going to be drunks.
did you see the news after the downtown concert last night? Who is the moron? Your are in denial and obviously a fool! Keep living your virtual dream in the fort!
loser? did you see the news after the downtown concert last night? Who is the moron? Your are in denial and obviously a fool! Keep living your virtual dream in the fort!
Fort Collins is a Excellent place to live very peaceful great weather and really good people...I really loved it there, although me and a friend were almost murdered coming out of a bar one night...The drunken monkey a bad place..I guess we were at the wrong place at the wrong time..double stabbing in 2007
It's a good town for raising children, but if you wanna do something exciting.. I would move... We could fit 1/3 of our residents into restaurants tho... that's pretty cool.
We visited there in January. Bbbbrrrr. The people were great and kind. Dempesey's Restaurant was really good love there food. We ate there 5 out of 13 days. Love the breakfast. Horsetooth, Estes Park wow. were moving there in April can't wait. Dempsey's will need to get more tables when we get there lolo.
@marko5280: what didn't you like about it, or why didn't you think it was anything special? I visited there in August for the first time and loved it...I'm thinking of relocating there or Denver...
I would love to move to Fort Collins. They get all 4 seasons, snow for Christmas. I now live in Las Vegas and everyone here knows this place sucks ass.
1- Not all people in Foco are RICH, there are currently 2 homeless shelters in fortcollins, and a place called the murphy center of hope, and they have many housing programs, and about 2/5 of the people are under middle class. And, foco is like the best place to go if you need help like welfare, or anything of those sorts. HA, there are plenty of hispanics/blacks/whites in fort collins...how do I know? well I was born HERE, and im still residing HERE, and lets just say im not the richest
@Moonfrost1 A majority of Fort Collins residents are successful people, and have high incomes. There are a ton of nice, wealthy neighborhoods in this city, and the majority of this city is White race. How would I know? I've lived here for 18 years, still do, and I travel a lot. Trust me, this city has low diversity.
U + 2 is a racist plot to limit the hispanic population of Fort Collins.
Knowing many hispanics may live in one house, the all white city government of Fort Collins passed this law to avoid the a quote,"Greeleyfication of the Town".
@cinnamonfantasy: they are smart to stop the b.s. before it starts....this is another reason it's a nice place to live, and they intend to keep it that way....
Well because it's small, everything's within walking distance, and since it's so small you get to meet and know a lot of people and crimes don't really happen there.
What didn't you like about Fort Collins? I am not from there, but it looks like a beautiful place to live. I am in Las Vegas, this place sucks. All we see are desert rocks and mountains. No real color, no real change in seasons. And the people here are something else. The jobs don't pay anything and being it is a right to work state, they can fire you for anything or nothing at all.
There is something magical about living in a place where everybody loves being there. Fort Collins ROCKS. I have lived all over Colorado, and it's the best.
After spending 5 years on my PhD study in Fort Collins, I just moved from fort coll to San Diego. I miss Fort Collins so much that I regret I had to move due to jobs. I wish I could live in Fort Coll for ever! :( I will move back some time
i live in fort collins. I have been here for about 9 years now. It is a very nice place. It's a college town, so there are alot of sexy ladies. Besides that, people are very friendly, we have bike trails that stretch for miles, and several gyms. People like to stay in shape/ excersize. It is a very friendly/ family oriented town. And there is always somthing to do.
@Lara0292: i visited there for the first time in August, and I'm trying to move there, too....I really loved it there...nice feel to everything...the summer weather was GREAT!
@Jazzymaestroman36: let me ask you...if i needed to live closer to Denver, what areas would you recommend? I visited Colorado (Fort Collins, mostly) for the first time in August...and loved it....but I may need to work in Denver or close to Denver....thanks
A single adult would probably enjoy the lower downtown (LoDo) area of Denver. For a young couple, there a lots of hip old neighborhoods that are being rejuvenated. If you are wanting to live in the suburbs, I recommend the Western suburbs along the foothills: Littleton, Arvada, Wheat Ridge. If you want to be further away from Denver and commute, Castle Rock to the South is nice, or Louisville to the north. Avoid Aurora at all costs.
fort collins kinda sucks cuz it's uneventful and boring. i guess there's not much real crime so its safe for kids and all. there's some great bud since its a college town and it's full of rich successful people, but the girls aren't all that pretty, just skinny white ho's trying to get with their stupid frat boyfriends. gotta move to cali! much less snow, way hotter women :]
true true hahaha i live in l.a. i v biin to fort collins nd its fukin borin
nd its diiferent her in l.a. lotta parties...raves nd flyers nd wtf?? da best wether is here in cali lol but yee ders like no drama at skewls over der nd wow extremely drama over here in l.a. nd lotta pple gettin shot i have proof go to ma vids da culture uv l.a. lol but i only hate da earthquakes... =[
Poor Town? Where the hell you living?? About 80% of Fort Collins is High Class living, if you look around, there are a ton of Wealthy Neighborhoods, and the town is kept up on a 24/7 basis. It's not that small either, not like Gunnison small, that's where you would see and know everybody. Get your facts right, I've lived here all my life and I wouldn't pick a better place to live.
oh, srry. my really messed up friend thinks its funny to be a jerk......... but i have to live in the 20% non high class, cant afford to live in the high class places.............but i agree with u......... my friend was visiting from denver and she dont know what she was talking about, srry bout that..................
fine move to california we dont want jerks like u giving our home a bad name and by the way i resent what u said im not a skinny white ho tryin to get with anybody
i was too critical and biast with the 'skinny white ho' comment, so i apologize. i'm a sabercat, and the majority of fossil is indeed full of skinny white ho's, so that's where my generalization came from.
Being a middle-class liberal at a rich conserative white school has really given me a bad opinion of this place. But there are good people here, that's why it was picked as #1!
Snow..maybe. Now that it's like 93 every day and i work outdoors i'm kind of missing it, ha..
well i was too critical and biast with the 'skinny white ho' comment so i apologize. i'm a sabercat and the majority of fossil IS skinny white ho's, so that's where my generalization came from.
Being a middle-class liberal at a rich conservative school has just made my own experience uncomfortable, but i realize that there other other perspectives. There are great people here, that's why it was picked as #1
snow..maybe ha. it's 93 like every day now and i work outdoors, so i kinda miss it!
Ok a few things 1 Fort Collins sucks like loveland 2 if you want to live in Colorado get out of the fucking city and go into the mountains i live in loveland and i spend most my time in fort Collins and the people make me want to shoot myself
i`m bosnian from germany and i used to live in Fort Collins in 2006.
actually, i liked it. there are some nice places and the girls were fantastic. very open to europeans. i got numbers or kisses or both every night. :-)
I moved here from Chicago... Could have gone to any school in the Country.. By far the sickest place ever.. Grew up my entire life thinking I was gonna go to boulder... Until I visited and met some of the people... If you care more about the quality of the people around you than the stuff around you Fort Collins is the place to be
Ft collins isnt dangerous in most places plus theres the really cool old houses and apartments such as the avery house and I really doubt 1anthony2 that you got stabbed over nothing GO CSU RAMS
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
There are too many fucking chicken shit beaner mexicans taking over like everywhere else... I was stabbed 13 times there in old town in 2007 over nothing
are you sure you weren't shootin off your racist shit hole you call a mouth? hate to tell you..but people don't usually get stabbed for no reason in small towns
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
h by the way, it's not as safe as they make it out to be. There is much crime here, and a budding gang problem. There are murders, rapes, stabbings, and shootings. There's pretty much just as much crime here as any other college town
what the fuck are you talking about there is no gang problems you stupid shit...there aren't "MURDERS" rapes stabbings and shootings that's all bull shit people...
@dragon345543: i visited FC last summer for the first time....it was one of the safest places i've ever been....i had no sense of any crime problems...i drove all around for ten days....
Hey people, Hewlett Packard is most likely going to transfer me to Fort Collins in the coming two months. So far, it looks like an awesome place. Anyone have any advice about relocating to the area? Good places to live? Maybe someone could give me a tour? Haha.
EcoWhale, sometimes we do get a bit of the smell of Greeley wafting our way on a windy day, but that smell is from the silage produced to feed the cattle, not from the Swift Co. operation itself (or so I'm told!)
Depends on who you are, obviously. I'm an ourdoorsman, and I just have to have my Poudre river access and the ability to go on a deep wilderness backpacking trip hours after I just got off work. I lived in Cali, and there's zero comparable wilderness to Colorado at all.
Public schools are going downhill as the demographics are changing. I grew up in this educational system and am still actively involved and i cant help but notice how the demographics are causing the schools to change for the worse.
@CollegeScoutSEC: that's something I was curious about....we visited the area last summer and loved it....i wondered about the schools....looks like a better set-up than many places on the East Coast....let me know about the areas closer to Denver, if you could....thanks....
get the fuck out of my town tourists. We don't want you here. Fort Collins was a wonderful place to live before all these people started moving here and destroying all our beautiful open space with you're ugly fucking suburban neighborhoods. Let me say it again. WE. DON'T. WANT. YOU. HERE.
Yeah, I'm sure your family moved there in the 1800's. Shut up. I am just back from a few days there last week, and I was disappointed. It was all stripmalls and chain restaurants and chain stores. Oh yeah, and .1 acre (at the most) overpriced houses. I drove out from the town center to make sure I wasn't mistaken, and I wasn't.
I lived in NJ for 27 years. It's completely different. How can you compare the two states? The ONLY thing I miss about Nj is the thick green forests. People are more rude in NJ, everything is ten times more expensive and taxes are out of control. Fort Collins is just a better quality of living.
Oh by the way, it's not as safe as they make it out to be. There is much crime here, and a budding gang problem. There are murders, rapes, stabbings, and shootings. There's pretty much just as much crime here as any other college town.

Poor Town? Where the hell you living?? About 80% of Fort Collins is High Class living, if you look around, there are a ton of Wealthy Neighborhoods, and the town is kept up on a 24/7 basis. It's not that small either, not like Gunnison small, that's where you would see and know everybody. Get your facts right, I've lived here all my life and I wouldn't pick a better place to live.
guywhocandraw 2 years ago
oh, srry. my really messed up friend thinks its funny to be a jerk......... but i have to live in the 20% non high class, cant afford to live in the high class places.............but i agree with u......... my friend was visiting from denver and she dont know what she was talking about, srry bout that..................

Its fine, I mean, once you enter fort collins and look around, its pretty much says it all.
guywhocandraw 2 years ago
fine move to california we dont want jerks like u giving our home a bad name and by the way i resent what u said im not a skinny white ho tryin to get with anybody
and the snow is awesome
so just move already u freakin jerk

i was too critical and biast with the 'skinny white ho' comment, so i apologize. i'm a sabercat, and the majority of fossil is indeed full of skinny white ho's, so that's where my generalization came from.
Being a middle-class liberal at a rich conserative white school has really given me a bad opinion of this place. But there are good people here, that's why it was picked as #1!
Snow..maybe. Now that it's like 93 every day and i work outdoors i'm kind of missing it, ha..

Being a middle-class liberal at a rich conservative school has just made my own experience uncomfortable, but i realize that there other other perspectives. There are great people here, that's why it was picked as #1

Fort Collins is a fantastic place to start and grow a business; innovative highly motivated people working in the relaxed foothills atmosphere!

I moved here from Chicago... Could have gone to any school in the Country.. By far the sickest place ever.. Grew up my entire life thinking I was gonna go to boulder... Until I visited and met some of the people... If you care more about the quality of the people around you than the stuff around you Fort Collins is the place to be

h by the way, it's not as safe as they make it out to be.

Hey people, Hewlett Packard is most likely going to transfer me to Fort Collins in the coming two months. So far, it looks like an awesome place. Anyone have any advice about relocating to the area? Good places to live? Maybe someone could give me a tour? Haha.
Garzilla08 3 years ago
CONS: Stinky slaughterhouse nearby, very harsh winters, extremely expensive. Otherwise, yes, nice.
EcoWhale 3 years ago
You might be thinking of Greeley when it comes to the slaughterhouse.
sinistermoon 3 years ago
EcoWhale, sometimes we do get a bit of the smell of Greeley wafting our way on a windy day, but that smell is from the silage produced to feed the cattle, not from the Swift Co. operation itself (or so I'm told!)

Lol slaughter house.....harsh winters? dumb

Frisco is definitely a lot better than Fort Collins, as far as how much fun you can have. I've lived in both.
Willemims 3 years ago
Depends on who you are, obviously. I'm an ourdoorsman, and I just have to have my Poudre river access and the ability to go on a deep wilderness backpacking trip hours after I just got off work. I lived in Cali, and there's zero comparable wilderness to Colorado at all.

Public schools are going downhill as the demographics are changing. I grew up in this educational system and am still actively involved and i cant help but notice how the demographics are causing the schools to change for the worse.
CollegeScoutSEC 3 years ago
@CollegeScoutSEC: that's something I was curious about....we visited the area last summer and loved it....i wondered about the schools....looks like a better set-up than many places on the East Coast....let me know about the areas closer to Denver, if you could....thanks....
TheJimmyPopcorn 1 year ago
get the fuck out of my town tourists. We don't want you here. Fort Collins was a wonderful place to live before all these people started moving here and destroying all our beautiful open space with you're ugly fucking suburban neighborhoods. Let me say it again. WE. DON'T. WANT. YOU. HERE.
xxacidburntsoulxx 3 years ago
Yeah, I'm sure your family moved there in the 1800's. Shut up. I am just back from a few days there last week, and I was disappointed. It was all stripmalls and chain restaurants and chain stores. Oh yeah, and .1 acre (at the most) overpriced houses. I drove out from the town center to make sure I wasn't mistaken, and I wasn't.

NJ is Better Than Colorado
bacon193 3 years ago
I lived in NJ for 27 years. It's completely different. How can you compare the two states? The ONLY thing I miss about Nj is the thick green forests. People are more rude in NJ, everything is ten times more expensive and taxes are out of control. Fort Collins is just a better quality of living.
