ok i have to intervene on behalf of my beloved Disney... yes the ride is a bit intense but to advise people not to ride... that's just uncalled for. True, a little boy DID die after riding this ride; however it was concluded that he had a pre-existing heart condition that his parents failed to yield to. He could have has the same response riding Aladdin's Magic Carpets. Still, this ride is not for the weak, hence the creation of "Team Green" for the lighter weights :)
during my trip to disney world a couple days ago, the only thing i could think during the orange team take off was,"THE GS ARE SO UNCONFORTABLE! I'M GETTING CRUSHED!" (mostly feeling it on my chest, if you know what i mean) and getting off i was like "can we do it again!?"
my son and I did this ride on the orange side, before they tamed it down. When they slingshot you around the moon, the g's were so intense it felt like my brain was being sucked out through my eyes! He and I both screamed at the same time ffffffuuuuuuuuccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!
I was actually able to ride this ride prior to them turning down the intensity due to the death of the Son of a the Ambassador to Spain, also there was the death of a 49 year old woman from Germany. I rode it before they died. Originally the Orange level (Most intense) had settings a lot higher. As of now the Orange team sustains 2.4g's. You are in zero gravity. You have to exercise caution when riding these rides. I have epilepsy and rode the Orange! AWESOME RIDE!
Lol! I went on this ride, and ALL of the buttons didn't work! I pressed them for like 3 minutes! I was like:"What the fuck!? Oh shit! We're gonna diiiieeee!"
Ahhhh....this brings back so many memories...Summer Vacation....Florida....Sunny Days...although I love doing the Intense flight training. It so awsome like that. I can't seem to find any joy with Less Intense Training.
to simulate the effects of high G forces, like on liftoff, they spin you around in a centrifuge. Which is why they tell you to not look sideways. But that ride as well as the Test Track one are totally wicked.
...this ride is awesome !!!...it´s really not that scary...if you have SERIOUS heart problems of course avoid it, but it´s like everything else except for the mild g-force effect. The biggest amount of force is applied to you at the beginning, and if at that moment you try to separate your head from the seat you are really gonna feel muscular pain on your neck for the entire day....so don´t !!!
ok i got super dizzy watching that. im going to disney world on thursday and staying there for 9 days. i am so not going on this, especially since 2 people died. i think i have a heart murmer(nothing serious, and my heart only skips once when im super excited or super nervous), so im deffinatley not going to take my chances!
Ah this ride was sweet im just sorry for the people who died i thought the intence one was fun but Dont go on if you have heart conditions jeaze see a doctor before going to disney
Ahhhh yes. This is a Great Ride at Epcot center. One of the best sim's i been in. I heard they toned it down since i went on it due to some 4 yr old kid dying on it and some old lady died like the next day after she rode it. It clearly states that if you have a heart condition NOT TO RIDE. Some idiots either cant read, And whats up with a dumbass parent!? when i was a kid you had to be 48 inches tall to ride the top notch rides. I'm just sorry their kid had to pay the price for their stupidity.
The kid had an undiagnosed heart condition. They didn't know this before going on the ride, apparently. If you have any sort of heart condition, you should never ride anything with gforce. Also, I've been told that you shouldn't look to the sides when you ride this. Keep your eyes on the monitor. Apparently, it's looking around while the cabin is spinning that makes you sick. Kinda like those old Graviton rides at the fair.
In a way, I guess it is a continuation of that idea. Even Mission to Mars wasn't the original version--it was "Flight to the Moon." I just love how Disney references past attractions in new attractions. For example, there are several references to Horizons inside and outside of Mission: SPACE.
GUYS mission to space or whatever IS mission to mars. I went on mission to mars before and it's exactly the same. Sheesh.

I wish the joysticks in the ride actually did something. We wanted to make the capsule fall at the end.

It's called Mission: Space, you idiot. Not MISSION TO MARS. how do you get them mixed up?
spacemtndude14 2 years ago
I've only been on the gentle one, which is boring, I'll bet the intense one is the closest you could get to actually being in space, am I right?

This is actually Mission: Space, not Mission to Mars. Mission to Mars closed in the early 90s.
ayv18doz 5 years ago
Techically its an updated version of the idea. they even reference Mr Johnson from the Preshow to Mission to Mars on Mission Space
silentbob8201 4 years ago
In a way, I guess it is a continuation of that idea. Even Mission to Mars wasn't the original version--it was "Flight to the Moon." I just love how Disney references past attractions in new attractions. For example, there are several references to Horizons inside and outside of Mission: SPACE.
ayv18doz 4 years ago
I guess you could look at it that way, which makes it the third in a line: "Flight to the Moon," "Mission to Mars," then "Mission: SPACE."
I love how Disney references old rides in new attractions. There are even several references to Horizons inside and outside Mission: SPACE.
