@Suertsje Ya, one from the local Humane Society. It was brought in 4 years ago as a kitten, foster parented by a volunteer from the shelter. Returned back to the shelter when big enough to adopt. Adopted out as a 4 month old but bit a child (a love bite) but brought back. Been there 14 months! Now that is pretty "harsh", the whole time they were stuffing the food at her and she was an anxious eater so she got to 16.5#. We had to bail her out!

Why not cool? No one is making the cat run on the wheel. With all the coyotes inhabiting urban areas now, this is a good way for indoor urban kitties to get their exercise. Ask you vet...cats do just as well inside as out, as long as they have room and levels!

There's not too much friction. I used abec 7 bearings. And.. my cat wheel is 3 feet bigger than yours.
