  • Mia placut! Esto bravo!!!

  • Great project, it seems to work really well.

  • Thanks Lonny,

It really makes a huge difference in video shoot quality. Your projects are coming along nicely too.

  • In my heated water system, the water drains down from the roof panels when the pump switches off, so freezing is no problem. I have been looking at VAWTs, but it's difficult to find what is the optimum shape for blades. What I am building are really just toys, but there is a fair amount of wind here, and some upscaling might be a possibility if it could be done cheap. Europe's newly operational and biggest wind farm is visible from my house.

    Regards

  • I haven't given up completely on a water heating system, but it sounds like your design works well.

As the world economy continues to spin out of control, I'm sure I will be looking into my options much closer.

  • Nice job! Isn't it good to put surplus materials to good use, and do it at little cost? Is that a Traxxas u-joint? If so, which one? I eventually settled on the 5151. It's strong and smooth. I look forward to seeing more steadicam work, and video of the New World - not from Hollywood, but real everyday life. At the start of the video, did you say it was a 'southsider'? What's that expression?

    Regards from the UK

  • Thanks WS,

I did use a Traxxas, part #1951 if I remember right. YB2Normal influenced me as well.

I grew up on the south side of the city, hence the term 'southsider'.

Thanks again for sharing your work. My next project will be a fig rig.

  • I replaced an earlier jioint with the 1951 after seeing yb2normal;s video,,and still have it on one of my gimbals. The 5151 looks similar, but is a little bigger and stronger. I just got one two weeks ago, to remake my two-bearing design.

    All the best.

  • Keep up the great work and keep in touch...

  • Posted a new wind video. Playing with windmills and wind vanes has increased my consciousness of air movement. I see you have s solar heating panel. I have two water heating panels on my roof. They have been there for years, The system uses a standard central heating pump.but recently the pump failed, and I have to find a replacent at an economical cost. Looking for a used part.

    Regards

  • Good to hear from you again,

I am also looking into VAWT design windmills. They don't produce as much wattage, but they produce in lower wind conditions.

My heat panel has really been working great during the cold seasons. It has saved me so much in heating bills, I plan to build a second one before this winter season.

I've thought about water heating, but our winters get pretty cold and I'm not sure of the problem I could face with pipes freezing.

    God bless...
