The Stellers Sea Eagle is the biggest species of eagle in the world, their wingspan can reach about 3 meters, not 2,50 as many claims. A wingspan of 2,50 is often seen in the Haliaeetus albicilla, a close relative to the Stellers.
@TheShapeshifter86 - I think you need more research, There is NO WAY It can reached 3 meters! ha ha!
Do you have proof on this??? You are saying It has a Longer wingspan than the Andean Condor w/c has a 274 to 310 cm length of wingspan on average w/c is also heavier in weight up to 11 kg? You should be careful on checking in what you are posting there are many birds expert watching my friend.
If there are many bird experts in here as you put it, you, "my friend" are not one of them. If you were, you would know that this is a fact, the Stellers Sea Eagle can reach a wingspan of around 3 meters, search and you will find proof! They also mention this wingspan in the documentary "Realms of the Russian Bear".
By the way, the Andean Condor has a wingspan of 280-320cm and with a weight of 11-15 kg., way bigger than Stellers, wich weighs in at around 9 kg at the most.
@TheShapeshifter86 -CLEARLY! I never said I'm an expert...Lol! The 274 to 310 cm and 11 kg Andean condor is only an AVERAGE measurement, IF you understand what an average means?!
There are no DOCUMENTED records showing even the LARGEST Steller's sea-eagle could reached a 3 meters of wingspan... Unless you could present one! just by Saying It is 3 meters in length of wingspan is not convincing enough we could still calculate the way it looks in the video and It doesn't look 3 meters to me?
@Wallacetic Then you shouldnt talk about things you clearly dont understand. You can mail to eagleworld.dk, and they will confirm the Stellers 3 meters wingspan, or you could just ask Sir David Attenborough, I strongly doubt that you know more about wildlife than he does,"lol".
@TheShapeshifter86 _ Why NOT? Just because your not an expert you It doesn't mean you cannot talk about things? As long as your sources are reliable and you know where to get them... It's called 'RESEARCH' almost everything is can be found in the Internet, Wikipedia, books magazines like the NatGeoMag.
Again! there are 'NO DOCUMENTED' records of Steller's eagle reaching a 3 meter long of wingspan,
It has the longest wingspan among eagles, It's a soaring eagle up to 250 cm but not 3 meters.
@Wallacetic Then REASEARCH more! The Eaglesanctuary in Denmark (eagleworld) has a giant female Stellers with a wingspan of around 3 meters, go check it out on your next vacation, its open for tourists in the summer! How much more documentation do you need than a live bird that you can see with your own eyes? If you have any doubts, Im sure they will be pleased to measure it for you.
And yes, you can find almost everything you want on the net, also the Stellers 3 meters wingspan!
@Wallacetic Maybe, but not the BIGGEST! If you believe him in what he says about the Philippine, you should also believe what he says about the Stellers...! On more than one occation he comments that the Stellers Sea Eagle is the worlds largest species of Eagle! Why? Because it is. The Philippine has a longer body and broader wings, but that doesnt make it the biggest, not in my eyes anyway.
@TheShapeshifter86 - If the Steller's sea-eagle is the Biggest for you It's fine with me NO problem kid!
ALL I'm saying is there are NO DOCUMENTED RECORDS showing that the Steller's eagle had reached 3 meters in length of wingspan not evne the largest female Steller's eagle... otherwise It would have been publish in record books or articles. YES! It's probably has the longest wingspan among eagles often says up to 250 cm or 270 cm BUT NOT 3 meters!
It's becoz' Harpy and Phil Eagles are both forest eagles thay are adapted in flying, hunting in deep thick forests their wings are short for their size but broad with rounded edge and long squred-off tails for quick flight maneuverability with great presicion and agility in dense forest able to fly almost vertically snatching tree dwelling animals lke birds and monkeys.
steller's fish eagle, on average, has the longest wingspan of any eagle. a span of two and a half meters long! and it has the largest bill of any other bird of pray. This eagle is in fact the biggest fish eagle in the world. i like the steller's green eyes.
Eagles with the longest wingspan (Golden and Steller's sea eagle)up to 9 feet. Philippine Eagle has the largest wing surface area (Broadest wings) Largest Powerful beak comparable to Stellers beak. It has the longest legs (tarsus) and claws that could almost wrap a human neck and probably the longest avegaring 95-112 cm in lenght.
Philippine, Harpy and African crowned eagles has a short (wingspan) but broad rounded edge wings and long tails... an adaptation for quik turns maneuverability when flying, hunting in dense forests.
Philippine eagle's sharp powerful bill is comparable to Steller's eagle bill in size and has a larger skull though Steller's has the longest wingspan, Phil eagle has the largest wing surface area of all the living eagles it's wings are short for it's size like all other forest eagles their wings are short but broad w/ rounded edge and long tails an adaptation for flying, hunting in dense forests. Phil eagle, the tallest eagle is the only eagle specie w/ a blue gray eyes and beak.
Philippine eagles wings are short for its size but broad with long squared off tail, an adaptation for flying almost vertically in dense forest for quick turns and maneuverability when hunting in thick forest. They are adept in snatching monkeys, birds from trees without cutting flights.
Steller's sea eagle is the Heaviest eagle and the Philippine eagle is the largest in terms of size or physical dimensions...I think it reallly depends on what you are looking for largest in size or weight?
Nope! spizaetus, Philippine eagle is not just longer, It's taller than Harpy and Steller's sea eagles; larger wing area (broadest wing) longer tarsus, larger bill..almost tripple the size of Harpy's bill. It has long squared off tail and broad wings for naneuverability when hunting in dense forests.
Harpy ave. weight 18 lb, Phil. eagle 17.4 lb and the Heaviest Steller's eagle ave. 20 lb
Actuallt the Steller's eagle is the world's largest eagle in terms of weight, with females that commonly attempt 9 kilos weight in the wild.
But his weapons are weak. Harpy, phillippine, African crownea, Martial, and even golden eagles all these species posses talons a lot stronger than Steller's.
In my whole life I've never seen any raptor such as this. The closest I've ever seeing one is when I saw what looks to be a Golden eagle when we're driving through Arizona, and I don't even know if those bird of prey thrive or even exist in that part of the world. Anyway, I know Philippine eagle is really rare, but I'm hoping I get to see one up close when we go to the Philippines.
I've seen the Philippine eagle a lot of times amd other local raptors here in the Philippines however I would also like to see other eagles in other places. Specially the Harpy, Steller's and Golden eagles if give the chance.

@TheShapeshifter86 - BTW Sir David Attenborough also said in one of his articles about the Philippine eagle
He said that the Philippine eagle is the most spectacular, most impressive eagle among the eagle family!
I think it was also uploaded here in 'Youtube' by Iyakabud.

The Stellers is larger than both the Harpy and Philippine. They are slightly taller. But the Stellers is much heavier with a much longer Wingspan.

One of the biggest eagles I've ever seen.
My favorite type of eagle too.
Here in America, bald eagles seem to be more popular.
But I love the Steller eagle!

It only hs a longer tail than any species.
But harpy eagle and Steller's are way more massive and heavier!

world's largest (size) is Philippine Eagle.
Maybe Steller's Eagle is the "heaviest eagle" due to its weight but I'm sure its not the largest.
