The nationals shouldn't be blamed. They babied him the whole time. Injurys happen if. Do u think that if the nationals would have traded him that he wouldn't have gotten injured?
anyone who is blaming the nationals organization for his injuries clearly doesn't know what they are talking about, his mechanics which he developed long before joing the nationals are what causes his arm problems, the so called "inverted W" where his elbow is above his shoulder as he is loading is what caused his injuries, he doesn't create tilt between his shoulders and hips meaning his arm doesn't have enough time to get to the correct position before his momentum begins moving forward
@godistheshit You are correct but the Nationals did make 2 errors that led him to his injury:
1). He was having elbow problems coming out of college and the Nationals knew this. Yet they still decided to keep pitching him instead of having him evaluated...
2). You are correct about the "inverted W". It causes the arm to depend more on the elbow and arm muscles instead of your legs. Mark Prior had the same mechanics and we all know what happened to him. Nats didn't even decide to look at that...

dunno where you guys get your news... strasburg needed tommyjohn right out of college, the nationals drafted him anyway, pitched him while he could still stand it, then threw him under the knife. no one "ruined" his arm other than himself. you have to ask yourself, why could Nolan Ryan throw in the 100s in his mid 40s, and this guy couldnt at 22 years old without surgery? MECHANICS.
Too bad that the Nats drafted Strasburg. That organization is riddled with incompetence, and it's questionable as to whether Strasburg will ever be the same thanks to the Nats dumb decision to rush him through the minors and overpitch him after promoting him to the majors.
can we just get a regular video without all this annoying music or obnoxious effects? all of the editing really takes away from his performance. keep in mind, 99% of the people watching this video just want to see the 23 strikeouts. that's it.
I see a 4-seam and a 2-seam fastball, but what the hell is that other pitch? I can't tell if it is one pitch or 3 different ones. It sometimes has only slider movement, sometimes has only curve moment, and sometimes it looks just like a slurve. Whatever it is, that just isn't right.
@maxstein2011 Haha, way off. Almost none of the use testosterone simulate or anything like that. Believe it or not, some people actually work hard to play the sport they love.
It's a shame he got hurt, there was a lot of anticipation for this guy to do great things and now hes out for 18 months. I hope he comes back strong....
this song does not fit the kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk's but it does not matter because he possibly could b the next cy young, they could even change the name to the strasburg award
@burns1210 2 miles can make a difference, imagine 4, think of it as someone throwing a 90 mph slider now add 4 miles to that slider and its all of a sudden unhittable.
Say what you want about this guy, but think about it. A 21 year old throwing a 100 plus MPH fastball, and a curveball that has a rediculous amount if curve. This kid can pitch now MAYBE he'll throw his arm out or maybe that's exactly what people were saying when Nolan Ryan made his appearence... I'm not saying that he's the greatest, I'm saying that he has a chance...
Seeing as LeBron James plays BASKETBALL in Cleveland and strasburg pitches in Washington DC in a sport we call baseball I would assume there is no coincidence.
14 K's and 0 BB's in 7 innings is pretty impressive for any major league pitcher. This kid has excellent stuff and his control is amazing. I wish you well Stephen. Sure wish I could watch him pitch in person.
14 K's 0 BB in 7 innings for ANY maqjor league pitcher that would be pretty sweet. Now consider he's a kid still learning the art of pitching. Geeze, what an excellent start. Keep it up kid!
@islamDick he pithed only 7 inings an had 14 ks in his 1st mlb start. roger clemens pitched 9in. and had 20 ks in when he ha been play for a couple of years.
@islamDick idiot this is at san diego state when he set the record there for 23ks in a game. his major league debut was 14k over 7 innings thanks and good night
Against a poor playing Pirates, that's very impressive. Wait until he faces Yankees, Cardinals, pujols, manny ramirez, jeter, giambi, holliday, lol. He will turn out an ugly joke. The German halfbreed embarrasment's celebration won't last long.
He is probably the best pitching prospect of all time. But we've all been let down by the sure thing. It's exciting to consider what he may become but for now he is only potential.
Aite guys I agree with the fact tht thi guy is insane BUT u hav to put add the fact tht most MLB players are there for there hitting and if u rly look the pitches are either down the middle or outta the zone and his curveball is dirty but he needs more experience to b succesfull in the bigs great stuff tho
Great production and nice song choice...didn't know who it was but went perfect with the split third screen shots. Nice K counter too. Strasburg is going to be fun to watch in seasons to come.
No he won't theres only one randy johnson and theres only one nolan ryan. Strasburg all he is now is potential. Im so sick of everyone putting labels on these prospects oh "hes the next George Brett" "he's the next Wade Boggs" and they usually never end up living up to their hype because people put too much pressure on them. These prospects will create their own idendity but we can't compare them to hall of famers even if they haven't even played in the bigs yet!
@redsoxking10 I'm with ya man; i hate the way everyone rides on this kid's cock when he hasn't even played one major league game yet. 23 strikeouts is insane but look at who he did it against, Utah okay, when he pulls that off against an MLB team then I'll ride his cock like everyone else but until then he's just a college kid who is nothing but potential.
Yeah I'm hoping that he's not like the rest who came before him, that he's the chosen one. It would be great for baseball. But I think he will he been very mature about all this hype and he's not overconfident.
this guy doesnt seem so great now that im watching this video although it is a terrible video but he doesnt mess around with his speed and everything seems to be out of his control and alot of it is right down the middle the pro's will tear this guy apart, he needs to strategize and gain control if he does that he can have a bright future
@FriskyMagic im sure you can throw 23 ks in a game... the kid is the second coming of nolan ryan... keep your useless sports knowledge outta here.... he clearly paints the zone and theres only up from here for him.... he'll be more than great

@MrSportsFellow yep, and now Strasburg is out for a year because of his stupid throwing motion, and you have Zimmerman, Dunn and a bunch of washups and prospects that won't perform. Yayayayay.
Nah , Sanchez has pressure problems and comand problems. He's pitching today against the D-bags. Bumgarner has PERFECT command but his arm just died all of a sudden but its common for a minor leaguer. Sanchez DOES have deadly stuff but as a Giants Fan , I can't rely on him. Cain just threw batting practice yesterday and the D-bags got 7 runs off him so Cain is tired and Lincecum is tired too. I would trade Sanchez for a power bat.
Yeah, But I still wouldn't put Bumgarner in. If there were to trade Sanchez, they would just need to re-sign Penny. Yes he had one bad outing but besides that he has been solid. It's better to keep Bumgarner in the bullpen so he can get more experience.

ok sure genius, in the time i've been alive the yankees have won 4 championships and the red sox won two. there's your proof, the red sox are HALF as good as good as the yankees.
holly shit!! so much has been said about him so i decided to look him up and see what he gots and all i gotta say is..holly shit!! unbelievable stuff...one day he will be a yankee!
nationals would still suck cause they won't be willing to get anyone else... sucks for stephen cause he's amazing. im just happy the yanks wont have to face him
couldn't strike out all 27. no I'm kidding he's the next great pitcher. He and Tommy Hanson, my hometown pitcher, are the next great pitchers. I wish him luck, and hope he brings the Nationals into the contest of our sorry division.
ok anyone can hit a 95 mph fastball after u see it a cupple times so all u ppl who think there so good cuz they can hit a 95 mph fastball u not considered good if u think ur good go try to hit a 95 mph fastball and then have someone throw u a curve ball or change up at 70- well good luck =]
Guys i now hes an amazing pitcher but he still must become better to become this legend everyone believes he will become, dont take me wrong hes great but college and the majors r alot different. The fastball and curveball he throws are great but in the majors they see that everyday and they r acourse much better than your everyday college player.

the way the sox r playing boy i dont think theyre gonna even make the playoffs
the yanks up 7 games... dayum thats gotta hurt red sox fans
yanks have the best record and we all know the way theyre playin nobody can beat them...
and u wont b able to say got rings lately? cuz the yanks are gonna win this year
and umm the sox dont even half of the rings the yankees have
scoreboard24 2 years ago
lol whoever spends the most gets the best team these days I suppose. Baseball won't be serious until theres a cap.
VmanAK47 2 years ago
uh yeah, we got one this decade and are about to get another. also, if we suck and we're 8 games ahead of the sox, what does that say about them?

sox suck

Got 26 championships? oh yeah, you don't.

And u were born 4 zero
hardyboyzredsoxfan33 2 years ago
ok sure genius, in the time i've been alive the yankees have won 4 championships and the red sox won two. there's your proof, the red sox are HALF as good as good as the yankees.

His fastball and curveball remind me of a young Doc Gooden.Hopefully he doesn't ruin his career and waste away his talents like Doc did either.

WTF! This guy has a playstation-esque slider! UNreal the way it has a swooping action, the bottom falls out!
Boras wants 6yrs and 50 mill i believe which is WRONG for a unproven player.
much can go wrong and some MLB team could be sattled with his contract that will cripple their franchise. (nationals)
He's worth it after a 3yr-18mill type of rookie contract to me.

this is cool but this video fuckin sucks, it's too small and you make it really boring. typical of SDSU
asdfguy 2 years ago
this guy has STUFF...
98-103 MPH blazing 4 seamer
94-98 MPH dirty 2 seamer
87-91 MPH absolutely nasty slider
thats the makings of a great major league pitcher if he has consistency and doesnt blow his arm out

couldn't strike out all 27. no I'm kidding he's the next great pitcher. He and Tommy Hanson, my hometown pitcher, are the next great pitchers. I wish him luck, and hope he brings the Nationals into the contest of our sorry division.

mattsab52 2 years ago
yeah, and i can hit 103 but i don't know about 113. whatever!
goingyard03 2 years ago
I can hit pitchers throwing 93....but i don't know about 103....
thenjr99 2 years ago
Guys i now hes an amazing pitcher but he still must become better to become this legend everyone believes he will become, dont take me wrong hes great but college and the majors r alot different. The fastball and curveball he throws are great but in the majors they see that everyday and they r acourse much better than your everyday college player.
