  • Peggy has an ego problem - her grammar lessons explain how she is better than others. lol

  • @tootlefly1 haha. Thanks for commenting on my egoism! :D

  • Ok question. Is it ok to say: "我比你快“ instead of ”我比你較快“ as a short, quick way of responding? I am certain when I lived in Taiwan I would often hear people using comparatives in this way. What do you think? Thanks so much for the vids btw. You really do a great job of explaining the grammer. This is how I learn best. I subscribed:-)

  • @PeggyTeachesChinese zhende, nide zhongwen ke rang wode zhuyili. jiayou Peggy!

  • 你好 Peggy

Great lesson, but I have one doubt. At 2:09 In "Peggy shi zui ke ai de5 zhong wen laoshi"

Whilst I obviously agree with the sentence, I don't know what the word "de5" means here. It's not the first time that 的 has confused me!

    ;)

  • @Nilguiri

"de5" can be confusing. Most helpful study material? purchase "Cheng& Tsui Chinese-PinYin-English Dictionary for Learners". Its an invaluable tool. "de" can almost be used like english apostrophy - denoting something "can be described as"; or somthing that "belongs to", or even something "can be characterized by".

ENG: a beautiful car - the cars's beauty - the beauty of the car

Lit: Peggy is [a] (chinese lang. teacher {who "has", "described as", "characterized by"} most cute)

  • @mikewinburn

I think that makes sense; that's very helpful.

I'm sure if I hear it in several sentences, by hearing the context it'll all fall into place completely.

    Thanks Mike.

  • @Nilguiri

I agree, hearing it helps learning because it makes the sentence flow smoothly; and without it, the sentence seems like something's missing :)

eg: "peggy is my favorite teacher" - peggy shi wo zui hao DE lao shi, versus peggy shi wo zui hao lao shi

learning mandarin helps me appreciate bilingual speakers courage all the more! :)

  • Ni Hao Peggy wo jiao Ricardo,

Wo zui Xi huan Peggy lao shi de zhen hao ji la!

Wo Zui xi huan Leehom and Coco Lee Yin Yue!!!!

(how do I say the word and in mandarin ???)

  • @eph615 , what word do you wish to say in mandarin? "and"? perhaps? couldn't really tell from your post

  • @eph615 , what word do you wish to say in mandarin? "and"? perhaps? couldn't really tell from your post

"he3" might be what you're looking for

  • I learned to use 比 and 比 较 but i didn't learn to use 较 near the end of the sentence.

    for example

他比我高 he is more taller than me

他比我高一点儿。 he is a little taller than me

他比我高多。 he is much more taller than me

他不比我高。 he is not more taller than me

  • Too much grammar focus will scare people away....some people just wanna know how to say it..

  • @dargardargar You are right but this is intermediate level. Please have a look at my basic Mandarin playlist in which I teach fixed phrases and expressions. :)

  • @dargardargar Actually you are wrong. If you learn this one structure and know a few nouns and verbs you can now speak 100 sentences.

  • @dargardargar I agree at the start of learning these videos would be scary and off putting lol, but Many of us asked Teacher Peggy to do these more advanced lessons focusing on grammar aspects as our Chinese levels have already surpassed the beginners videos and we now want to focus on the harder grammar aspects. And she rose to the challenge brilliantly! They are a god send for me as I'm starting university to study Chinese for 4 years in September!

  • this isn't intermediate level chinese... dduuhhh... it's pretty much beginner stuff and should at the highest be classified as elementary level material.

  • @dkmo It depends on who you are; as an American with no teacher and less-than-ideal internet time, this stuff would be classified as "advanced" ... hahaha!

  • @MarcellusTheGreen hi! no, it doesn't depend on who you are. get any elementary or even beginner academic textbook on chinese and ill guarantee you ll find it in there... but, i know what you mean! keep trying!

  • Yes you are very Beautiful

  • @shengchenfan Thank you. :)

  • wo3 zui4 xi3 huan1 Peggy de zhong1 wen2 ke4.

  • @techn0scho0lbus Xie xie ni.... :)

  • @techn0scho0lbus weishenme zui xi huan??? ha ha.....!!!! wo kaiwanxiao!!! wo ye xihuan Peggy de guoyu ke!!

  • @spidathiania 不客氣~~

  • Another excellent lesson!

  • More advanced lessons like this one! Thanks, Peggy!

  • thank,s teacher

  • Thank You Peggy,

  • Peggy 是最可爱的中文老师,还有最聪明^_^

  • @Xieerqi 謝謝你唷~ 你的嘴巴最甜了! :*)

  • peggy... my chinese teacher taught me 比 is a bad word..meaning the female genital

  • @zanetusken hahaha no bi (3rd tone) is used in comparisons, bi (1ist tone) means vagina :)

  • li sea peggy aw boo how : ( . do you know cantonese. Peggy lee puow ng pu leng what you think. I bet you don't know whats hor ouy mean. ok seeya where you now china hk?

  • Thanks Peggy,

I will be going to China soon. This is a good review for me.

  • peggy how do you use 的? like in your sentence

peggy 老师的中文 i dont underestand the reason for de?

  • @GrantAustin1985 的means "of" and is used like the English "..'s". For example, the above sentence reads as "the teacher's chinese" meaning the chinese which belongs to the teacher.

  • @ledgohan 谢谢, ledgohan. i understand a little better now.

  • Peggy bu zui qiān xùn (haha), ke shi zhe ke hen hao le.

wo ai xix xie ni zai jian

  • 妹妹 妳教得真好 :-)

  • wo zui xi huan Peggy de 乳房 ke

  • Oh - Peggy, which level is this? For me this is much too fast.

Your video have a great value for me ( and your other students) but if you could speak a little bit slower it would be even a bit better for beginners.

Thank you and congratulations to your helpful lessons.

  • 我觉得啤酒比白酒好的多!

  • i cant stop watching her boobs jiggle.... 最性感的。。

  • @zanetusken Pay attention!!!!!!

  • @zanetusken dunno how i found this, but i agree... i think i see おっぱい on her right side

  • i like your hair peggy, it suit you

  • I wonder how Chinese music is sung when considering the tones. Surely the tones are included with the melody right? Idk, someone enlighten me please.

  • @lslewis As my mandarin teacher told me tones of the words are secondary to the tune of the music. It kind of gets blended together, but the main thing is to keep the melody sounding good not whether every tone is exactly right.

She also told me the same is true in conversation, and that not all Chinese pronounce all tones perfectly and there can even be regional differences, but as long as you don't mess it up too much, context fills in the gaps.

At least that's how I understood it ^^

  • Great video! I love your grammar lessons! I am having a very hard time with the grammar right now and the compartives was throwing me for a loop. This was great! Thanks!

  • 最好!

  • 哎呀 臭美! 哈哈

  • You should add the simplified characters to your videos.

  • 謝謝老師!

  • Very good lesson. I'm glad to see more lessons that are a little more advanced.

  • Peggy definitely is the cutest and smartest teacher of Mandarin.

  • Peggy没有其他的中文老师漂亮。Peggy一般般的。 Haha, just so people can learn the opposite too. ;-)

  • Love watching your videos but you should try to make the sound better.

    For sure the prettiest!

  • 你比一般的台灣老師開放 哈哈!恭喜你!

  • You are the cutest ;)

  • Jia your Laoshi

  • 我的中文老师比Peggy漂亮。

    她是我女朋友!

She also has a really effektive system to reward me for right answers 哈哈哈

  • @Jackpower1989

    你应该学英文以前你学中文, 你的英文很不好,effektive ? ?? ? ?

    大傻瓜,peggy很漂亮,真的 :D

    Peggy, 这节课很好! 你帮我的中文好多了啊 :D

  • @Memphissound901

Hello my dear friend. Of course I can also speak and write a proper English, and unlike you I am also proficient in the english grammar.

Apparently I have to explain you the meaning of comparative clauses.

A is better than B in sth. This doesn't say anything about the individual skill, just relates the skill of A to the one of B.

You know how we people like you call in Germany? Grammar Nazis.

effektive is the german version of effective, is your abstract thinking that bad?

  • @Jackpower1989

    我们不是朋友,你越来越看起来像一个大傻瓜

  • @Memphissound901

I block you now, so there is no need for you to answer me back. Shame on me, that I answer on a troll like you. You are obviously only here for insulting other people.

  • nice~~

  • nice and comprehensible lesson!

  • she is the cutest mandarin teacher! : )
