Like in Prime when she first saw Meta Ridley as he was escaping, he flew away and Samus was like "oh crap, he got away again". She was adopted by the Chozo, who made her power armor for her to help her survive on the harsh climate of their planet. Once Samus came of age, she enlisted in the Galactic Federation to rid the galaxy of the space pirates, among other menaces, so as to prevent others going through her predicament. Like Batman.
