  • I think it was the Silencers, Scottish band, who were especially commissioned to do the song for the ad. Song is Wild Mountain Thyme - and old Scottish/Irish folk song.

  • I have been searching for this for around 18 years, can somebody please tell me - both the exact artist and song from this incredible advert. Thanks so much for uploading..

  • @Blackuyuyi. As far as I'm aware it's "Wild Mountain Thyme", also known as "Purple Heather" and "Will You Go Lassie, Go", is an ***IRISH*** folk song, written by Francis McPeake, a native of Belfast.

Often mistakenly believed to be a traditional song, but the copyright is held by 'English Folk Dance and Song Society Publications', who published it for McPeake.[1] It was first recorded by Francis McPeake in 1957 [2] and has since been covered by numerous artists. Including THE SILENCERS.
