Great to see two icons of speed going head to head. While they are both fast, they definitely do it differently. I currently own both a B-King and a Vmax. Honestly, I love them both and wouldn't sell either one.
You completely missed my point. My father owns a Hayabusa, it's cool, it's fun, some people own Vmax's, I don't care! I know first hand when racing him on my 750, I get my doors blown off! When we get to the corners, the playing field changes, which is why I drive one. My point was each bike accelerates differently at different rpm's, which is why people choose either - or! It's not about standing mile!
@flattrackmile Bullshit. You're spreading lies. The reason the Vmax needsw a slick is because of the almost 200 horsepower...Ain't no dreaming. I recently talked to an "old pro" who races gsxr's...and he flat out told me they got nothing on the new Vmax. So stop posting lies and go for a ride with all your buddies bikes that look just like yours...GSXR what? Hyabusa who? Hmmm...they look the same to me. Like a dog fucking a football.
Dude, that was the ugliest V-max I've seen. Who in their right mind would fit one with the front-end from an old Ducati 916?? It's a beautiful bike sure, but this was just wrong...
V-Max is like a little less slower then a B-King, but the V-Max has A-LOT more acceleration from 0-120 the V-max will knock your block off, don't forget the tech from V-Max. Can't tell you how much. It's endless lol.
people seem to forget that the v-max was designed in 1985 !!! thats 26 years ago ! , and it still has that special look about it. and its still a fun crazy bike, i love them.
Sorry you are incorrect. The 1998 Kawasaki ZX9R was the first factory stock motorcycle to hit the 9 second quarter mile. (9.99) Research it for yourself.
The Vmax is not the quickest bike, but it was once king back in the day and to this day STILL turns heads as being a unique bike. Seen one GSXR/ZX10 you seen em all-same body work different color. I own both the 85 Vmax AND the 05 ZX10-both are equally fun.
@stimeeee I own a 1300 Yamaha v-star because I am a pusssssssssssssss I have rode one v-max in my life and it took 3 days to get my balls out of my ass. The Busa? Fuck that just to hear one of them run is impresive. There are a lot of ways to die. I would prefer some chick sitting on my face.
I disagree do your research on the Busa and you will see it is just as ICONIC as your VMAX they are both nice bikes. I think it is just a matter of preferance. Bottom line is when we see each other on the road me in my Busa and you in your VMAX i will wave at you and you will wave at me.
AND AT THE END OF THE DAY OWNING A VMAX WILL ALWAYS BE MORE ICONIC THAN ANY GSXR, ZXR, VTR, VFR, CBR, IM GLAD I OWN ONE, THESE BIKES WILL BE WORTH GOOD MONEY VERY SOON.
you guys forget the v max is a heavy ass bike with street suspension weighnin at almost 700 pounds vs a ninja that around 550 big difference just by the bike keeping up says alot
@maxbg Do you really thing the aerodynamics play a great roll in a 1/4 mile run?
I bet if you took the fairings off the Busa..the outcome would be the same.
As for modding the engine in the VMAX...ok....how about turning the 1300 into a 1500 Busa which is easy enough.....mod for mod..the Busa will always be faster
Dont get me wrong I appreciate a VMAX...its awesome in its own right.

@federalbigfoot a motorcycle's acceleration ( obviously not the small bikes) will always beat any other viechle's or animal's acceleration on this planet, including jets. It is a proven fact.
The vmax is 1985 technology, how can you even compare it to a modern busa, just by doing that you are acknowledging Yamaha's superior engineering design. Put a vmax motor on an r1 frame with chain drive and theres no bike out there that can compare with it in the 1/4 much less the 1/8 mile. Gratz suzuki you can beat a 25 year old design.
I am absolutely amazed at seeing these times! My K5 SV650S ran a 11.90 at 109 mph on the 1/4 mile. I thought The Liter bikes ran ALOT quicker, I guess my little v-twin is tuned pretty well.
To disagree a little bit. Acceleration times are 0-60 and the 60 ft time for drag racing. The V-Max is one of the quickest if not the quickest in this area because of the torque advantage. The Busa and other bikes get it on the top end not because of power but because of aerodynamics, meaning top speed not acceleration.
Don't forget that the Vmax does not have the aerodynamic advantage of the sportsbikes. Getting into the 9's with just pipes and slicks is quite an achievement. Imagine when the engine is modded.
@maxbg Do you really think the aerodynamics play a great roll in a 1/4 mile run?

If you think that was disappointing you should see how bad the 09' does. Its nearly 100lbs over the old one. I wonder if they will have the same transmission failures the original had. I have one apart as I write this in my shop. Yamaha is making poser bikes rather then power bikes. The B-King is so much lighter and less expensive having everything this new Max should have, including chain drive and a 6 speed, inverted forks and a decent fuel capacity. Yamaha you fail miserably. Get with it!!
well i guess yamaha had the v-max market already to update, so they knew they had a market already. They will probably release a naked street bike with a de-tuned v-max engine in it at some point.
Thats the idea of racing its the rider! Just cos no cornmers doesnt mean drag racing is easy! Its just as hard as any motorsport and if you are not good at it you will lose even if you slap a turbo on that busa ;)
But thats why we love racing...its never a sure thing ;)
ok i sorta agree, alot of it is the riders skill and such, but you can't honestly tell me that the top drag racers ( i can't name any ) have as much skill as a Valentino Rossi or a Troy Bayliss. if so then i think you got your head screwed on wrong. my opinion though i guess.
Im a diehard roadracing fan fan but i have to disagree. Look up Ricky gadson on youtube and tell me that does not require skill! Its just another kind of skill
Can't be bothered looking him up sorry, evan for arguments sake, but i mean roadracing for example, the skill that goes into every corner on every lap, the accelarating, drafting, changing gears, braking, hitting the apex and so on.. theirs evan an element of drag racing off the start line, i just think theirs more involved with that sort of racing than this, i'm not saying it's a peace of piss, otherwise i'd be out there on my 4stroke 125 :D just saying theirs more skill in other areas.
it was late, i was tired. go figure. i don't have to watch HIM to be "educated" thank you. i was saying in the sport.. you do less.. and what you do, do.. i.e. change gear so do PROPER racers. fuck you.
whos to say you are educated dick head. have people forgoten that u have to pull of the same way in road race as a drag strip... dun dun dun nothing changes dick wads.. learn to take corners and enjoy riding or be bored staring up a straight all day... i dont mind either way i will smoke u faggot hoes..
whilst im not really a fan of drag, i see the merit. I mean you are contending on a level field, everyone has to drag down the straight, so if you can't shift you're screwed. Also, don't forget the skill needed to tune the bike in the first place. Unless you get a shop to do it ;)
i have seen evenly matched riders racing vmax and busa for years and the outcome is always different! vmax is a damn fast bike but it doesn't have the top end of the busa! but i have seen several vmax's smoke busa's in the quarter and i have seen several busa's smoke vmax's! its all about the rider and the launch!
Its street racing and the Vmax lost end of story. And busas are beautiful and yes I have one turbo'd to over 600 hp on methanol and 20% nitromethane. On race gas it has over 500 hp.
That race meant diddley. All it proved was one rider was better at launching out of the hole... and they both sucked at that. Get two equal riders racing and then maybe, that will say something about the bikes.
reguardless of either bike's pros and cons, the riders are not very good racers... hope this was practice... they need to learn how to get going at that green!!!
stop typing bullshits!!!! those are 2 diferents bikes, a cruiser and a sportbike, you cannot compare it, one its faster but not very comfortable, another its not so quick but its more comfortable and its feels great in long rides!!! (sorry for my english)
lol. Again dear missunderstanders. the V-max2 is designed for unbeatable acceleration from 0 to very fucking fast and it won that by far. Now, as for once reaching fucking fast to then go a little faster, it is obvious that the v-max2 unfavorable aerodynamical design lacks, allowing other sports bikes (including the ones from the 80s, doesn't need to be a hayabusa) to be faster. Vmax2 beats every motorcycle in acceleration for probably the next 2-3 years, doh, it was made just for that.
i agree that vmax has "unbeatable" acceleration, but there's a lot of videos arround that shows how vmax loses it's zero- to-higher speed acceleration to modern sportbikes. try checking it out. cheers
then the people using the vmax2 on those movies don't know what they are doing frankly put. When I bought the vmax2 they sent me a dvd before the bike comes (it still did not arrive) and it used the motorcycle on different race tracks to test acceleration in detail and it beat every other motorcycle and the ones that rode it were pros. As I and the dvd and experts in it state, but I mean the real experts and not the regular Joe. It is the fastest in acceleration for 2-3 more years.
Here's the deal, you can't see who won, it is obviously close. If it is that close, don't brag or knock the other guy, both bikes are really great. Just enjoy the vid.
Well give me a break the guy missed a shift. That sure sounds like something other than a v-four like a V-Max has. It sounds like a single to me. Man! Busa's were ugly when they came out, they keep getting uglier.
Great to see two icons of speed going head to head. While they are both fast, they definitely do it differently. I currently own both a B-King and a Vmax. Honestly, I love them both and wouldn't sell either one.

V-Max is definitely not a good starter bike.
But, if you're uncareful and reckless, you can get injured on any bike.
My first bike was an old Yamaha FJ1200 with 120 HP. Absolutely not a "starter-bike".
But because i was aware of the weight and power, i drove it careful and with respect.
Also, the power came in smoothly and the handling was good.
One of my friends even started on a 6-cylinder CBX

That race meant diddley. All it proved was one rider was better at launching out of the hole... and they both sucked at that. Get two equal riders racing and then maybe, that will say something about the bikes.

they had a good a launch
Neilstr1990 3 years ago
with equal riders, busa would most likely win because of the way higher weight of the vmax, even if the new one has a little more hp.

Who the hell paints a Vmax 2 yellow? That's just wrong man.

reguardless of either bike's pros and cons, the riders are not very good racers... hope this was practice... they need to learn how to get going at that green!!!

stop typing bullshits!!!! those are 2 diferents bikes, a cruiser and a sportbike, you cannot compare it, one its faster but not very comfortable, another its not so quick but its more comfortable and its feels great in long rides!!! (sorry for my english)

if you take a look on the end of the video, the competition wasn't even close. busa left the vmax way behind him

Vmax2 beats every motorcycle in acceleration for probably the next 2-3 years, doh, it was made just for that.
phili878 3 years ago
i agree that vmax has "unbeatable" acceleration, but there's a lot of videos arround that shows how vmax loses it's zero- to-higher speed acceleration to modern sportbikes. try checking it out. cheers
yukikaze8721 3 years ago
hello,
then the people using the vmax2 on those movies don't know what they are doing frankly put.

Just enjoy the vid.

you need some glasses. the vmax2 began with 1 foot lead, than loses with tons of meters!

No thats a vmax alright and nobody missed any shifts
09AK 4 years ago
Well give me a break the guy missed a shift. That sure sounds like something other than a v-four like a V-Max has. It sounds like a single to me. Man! Busa's were ugly when they came out, they keep getting uglier.
flattrackmile 4 years ago
it does sound like a single!
BIZNAILEY 3 years ago
it's a V4

it sounds like a single!

"Busa's were ugly when they came out, they keep getting uglier."
Performance > Design
The Busa looks like it does for aerodynamics, not to make you go "OMG, PURDY!". Maybe you should ride Harley's.
