@ENGL555 the Nitro does have a cleaner gain, but it can be hard to coax a lot of sizzle out of one. The Recto has a distinct grind to it, plus that topend, that seems to work really well on recordings. The Nitro can sound a bit dark on recordings. I love both amps live though, both can cut like a knife if eq'd for it.
wow, could you give the settings ? I mean bass, treble and so on. your amp sounds so tidy and sharp. just great. Did you put the mic straight into the cone ?
@Titomansane1 thanks man. it's been a while, but nothing too out of the ordinary. Besides what's listed at the top for switch settings, everything was around 1:00-2:00, with bass around 10:00-11:00, ch vol around 10:00, and loop/solo off. Personally, I think there is a difference with these new rectos. They seem easier to EQ IMO, where the presence is more usable without making it a kazoo, the lowend is tighter, and it seems brighter overall. The SM57 was straight into the cone.
hey bud you should do one with just the guitar and amp to show people what this thing sounds like ! every other demo of it on here is crappy except yours.
@munchy040 thanks man, appreciate the kind words, but there are way better vids of this amp than I could do. This vid is actually all raw tracks though, it's basically what you would hear slapping a mic up in front of the cab. I think it could sound a lot better if it had someone mastering the individual tracks.
@bozzi90 thanks man, yeah, no eq or compression other than what youtube does to the file. I went straight in with a boost, then double tracked. hard left, hard right, and what you see is the middle track. Rectos just lend themselves very well to recording IMO. You can tell this sounds pretty raw though, there are a lot of things post mastering could do to make it sound enormous and polished.
@dusted04 IMO, I wouldn't use it in the loop. The benefit out of using something like an 808 or TS9, with a high gainer like a Recto, is smacking the front end of the preamp so its a different cut and feel. For boosting, you want to take the level on the pedal up higher, and the actual OD/dirt on the pedal lower. This way it tries to act like a clean boost rather than an OD, just juicing the preamp rather than adding a lot of dirt.
i think the splawn blows this away,more clen and defined..the nitro cuts like a knife..imo..

@hevechvy haha, I wouldn't say that personally. They both sound great to me for different reasons. Still have the Nitro and Recto

That sounds pretty tight. People complain that Rectos are flubby. This one sounds great.

@Erock503 Really? no EQ or Compressors??? it sounds killer! is this double recorded (guitarwise) or quad?
thanks

@Erock503 hey mate
probably a stupid question
but would you recomend running a maxon od 808 in the loop of on e of these amps
or should you put it between the guitar and amp
im thinking of getting a 2010 dual rec and want to run the od in the loop so there is less switching to do when changing to clean sounds ?
