@percussivepurcell Lol, I'm pretty sure this is the same guy. And I think he's also amazngdrummr27 and only did it to make fun of the people who think they're good. lol
@LAKings0101....I think people listen to like 30 secs. of this solo think omg so innapropriate, but it makes sense when he does thumbs rolls on the head.
Very nice... I've seen a LOT of tenor solos. I went to my first I & E in 96. And it's really cool to see somethings I've never seen before. The middle section.. very creative. The claw across the drums. And the underhand flip into trad. I'm totally stealing that!
And, Eric hit A LOT less rims than the guy who placed ahead of him. I'm just sayin'.
Maybe he got penalized for such an unfortunate title.
I don't think anybody gets credit for demand if they don't execute it. Rims to me equal non-execution. It's not as though Eric's solo was all that simple.
I am aware that the Devs guy who won had a more demanding solo, but he has to be in the ballpark execution-wise to finish above a solo like this, where the demand was still box 5 (albeit a low box 5), and the execution was much higher.
Well, while I do agree with you for the most part, Nick's style is a lot more... jazzy than most. For lack of a better word. And just the way he writes solos, he uses the rims and the drum base as instruments and it works. I'm not going to say he had an absolutely perfect performance, because he did not. But neither did Eric. I think they both did a great job and honestly, I think it really did come down to demand, and Nick had the demand that this guy didn't.
awhl man, eric techs my drumline at deptford high. hes the man. he taught me everything i know about snare!! haha he also says poop reallylllyyy fuunny!
It goes to show that just because a corp isn't in the top 12 they can still have amazingly talented corp members. For most people it's all about location. And this guy, has some of the best Single stroke rolls I've ever seen. Awesome.
lol yeah he techs my pit at pitman high school in south jersey. hes not just good at tenors, also really good at keyboard percussion and snare. so funny as well.

i think he loses points for having an immature title.

haha

@LAKings0101
itz not immature he's actually "stroking the head"
instead of using his tenors as just drums he found a more musical/instrumental way to provide sound by "stroking the head" differently

I'm not saying this solo is in any way bad because it's awesome, but Arce's solo kicked the shit out of this one.
yeahyeahyeahyeahya 2 years ago
I wouldn't say he lost points. Just didn't get more for not having as risky a solo as Nick's
