B.K.S.Iyengar in action. His asanas are superb and steady. And, he looks so concentrated and calm like he is meditating. I have found my in practicing yoga!
Iyengar is connecting to his soul through his body. For every asana he performs he has a clear mental direction; he decides where he wants to travel every little cell of his whole existence in the universe. Flexibilty and strength are the results of his body awareness and also, his dedication to find its limits. What I have learned from Iyengar is that our body is not seperated from our mind and soul. Its the whole within the wholeness - or it may become if we are willing to.
Iyengar is ofcourse good in ASANA. He is very flexible and strong. Doing asana in a nice way doesn't mean that he is a master of yoga. Yoga is not only asana, it's an integrated method of living. Which integrate philosophy which is essential for the mankind in order to go beyond the limits. Maybe Iyengar is able to go beyond the physical limit... but what about the mind ? Is he able to find the true connection of body - mind and soul.... OM
@chathappanok - That is for shri iyengar to know and find out. Yoga lets you do your inner connection with god on individual basis. May the joy be with you.
I don't think we'll see another great yogi than Iyengar in our lifetime, he's unique and will remain so for ages. Look at the flow of movements, the correct alignment and above all watch how the flesh, skin appear at rest even in the most strenuous poses, this is the sign that a yogi has reached his goal...body&mind are united. Many are called, few are chosen, this man was called and chosen in the yoga field.
Thanks Eddie! I was just watching Mr. Iyengar's 1938 practice, when he was 19 years old. I must say.... this one is BETTER! wow. I've never seen this one. thanks so much. OM.

Is anyone able to direct me to a video where Pathabi Jois is actually doing a yoga practice, not just telling others what to do?
