  • ...KAI TAK DRIFT!!! =D

  • Just a stupid pilot. Do go-around.

  • @mifty744 NOt at all the pilot was incredible skillful. It's call a cross wind landing.

  • There is not much of a crosswind there. Windsock indicates less than 6 knots (which is like, pretty calm for even a Cessna). More likely than not, the pilot screwed up his standard 47 degree right turn (the approach into old hong kong Runway 13) by turning too shallow, and during the last few miles when his heavy 747 drifted too far left of the runway from the momentum, he aggressively tried to save the approach. Just looking at the direction of the plane's shadow, the approach is messed up.

  • the left main landing gear got pwned lol!

  • @skillerboy3 The weight of the aircraft was still supported by the wings when the left main landing gear touched the ground. You could tell by the wing flex.

  • what do you mean infamous kai tak airport? This airport was FAMOUS!!!

  • @SleekDan97 'Infamous' does not mean 'not famous', it means famous for something negative.

  • @dkamm65 You're definitely right if it's looked at that way, but somehow when I typed the comment I was thinking it was famous because of the spectacular views the approach offered to people watching.

  • Is there anything, Asians can't?

  • the original vid had 300 million views

  • Textbook crosswind , cessna or 747, dos nt matter same principal.good job

  • like a boss

  • It's like a GTA landing

  • WOW! God bless you, the pilot, and the landing gear!

  • Oops!!! Korean Air is ALMOST crash due the touch the runway ground by the engines!!! I maybe your old video was taken in long time ago since 1995....

However, Hong Kong, China was bad neighborhood and dirty places since 1975 thru 2005; now there has been fixed the problem during remodel all the buildings under construction due the many tallest cranes... and now good neighborhood and clean place since 2005 thru present...

  • That pilot is incredible. He literally saved all of those peoples lives with nothing but utter skill. Anyone watching this video knows that plane should have crashed. Kudos!!! Thanks for posting this excellent video!

  • Actually This is one very excellent landing.

I see some stupid dumbs who think its shitty and stupid

You guys doesn't know anything about the plane.

  • tenes que tener los huevos en la garganta para hacer eso

  • I'm not sure if he HAD to land like that. Look at the air sock at :4. It's blowing, but not that hard

In fact, look at the tire smoke just as he lands. They don't get blown in the wind at all.

I think this just a case of a shitty pilot scaring the living crap out of the passengers.

  • @saeidmomtahan a ''shitty'' pilot? i would love for you to try landing a 747 in crosswinds, it just proves you know nothing about aviation and what skill is involved.

  • @mrgrimezHD

R u saying there is heavy cross wind?? I don't see it

  • I'm not sure if he HAD to land like that. Look at the air sock at :4. It's blowing, but not that hard

  • typical korean :D

  • wasn't extreme landing, was a great landing

  • Continuation.....caused by pilot error and/or shoddy maintance practices by U.S. carriers?? Remember the AA DC-10 disaster at ORD in 1979??What about the Northwest MD80 disaster at DTW in 1988 cuased by the pilots not setting the flaps on takeoff?? Or, the AA crash at Little Rock in the late 90's caused by the pilots attmpting a landing below minimums instead of doing a go around??By your logic, almost every U.S. and foreign carrier operating in U.S. airspace should be banned......

  • those poor people who flew for the first time haha

  • bar2v. you are right. they don't know how to fly. don't know how they are still in business

  • For anyone that thinks this is a great landing, first think about how korean airlines almost lost their right to fly in US airspace cause of how unsafe they are. Too many crashes in our airspace. Just FYI for all you wanna be pilot fucks out there who think you know everything about flying just cause you play FSX...you don't so shut the fuck up. If you're not a pilot then you have no room to talk.

  • @bar2v Oh bullshit. Go fly your plane hotshot.

  • Don't worry i will. And just remember, when you fly I am to hotshot taking you to your destination! have a nice flight!

  • @bar2v Name 1 crash that Korean Air has had in U.S. airspace. I'll buy you a delicious chicken dinner if you can just name one.

  • Comment removed

  • Go to wikipedia and search Korean Air Accidents and Incidents and this is why they almost lost their certificate to fly in US airspace because of their negligence to safety. Oh and make sure you look closely at Dec 23, 1983. Then there's multiple runway incursions check out Korean Air flight 36 at O'Hare, that's US airspace, jsut an FYI..do I need to keep going? And i'll take a baked potato and green beans with my chicken dinner. Thanks

  • @bar2v You, sir, are an idiot and will not get a delicious chicken dinner. First of all,it's common knowledge that the KAL plane shot down over the USSR was acting on a covert spy mission by the US to get pictures of Soviet air bases. The U.S. was experimenting using civilian aircraft under the assumption that civilian aircraft would be less suspect. Secondly...How many incursions happen on a yearly basis by American carriers at U.S. airports, plus the numerous disasters on U.S. soil cuased

  • @diapermanful Check out KAL flight 007 black box transcripts from the NTSB. It was not a spy plane. I'll bet you are one of these idiots who plays flight sim which makes you a god and know everything about flying. Do your research before you make yourself look like a complete dumbass. You really make me laugh, and yes I know about the runway incursions, I read about them all the time. But like I said, check out wikipedia, KAL Accidents and Incidents and for 20 years it was horrible

  • @bar2v What does flight sim have to do with the fact that almost every major U.S. and international carrier has had numerous incursions and crashes due to pilot error and/or maintanance and/or training issues.?Why do you have such a stick up your arse about KAL when *every* other major U.S. and foreign carrier has done equally if not worse than KAL and you're not asking for equal sanctions for equal cases??I think you're just an internet sucka with an axe to grind.....

  • Continue.. I hope all you bitch about this but you know I am right. Fight Sim doesn't make you a pilot nor qualifies you to judge REAL pilots. Have a nice day you fucks.

  • It wasn't a great landing, want to know why? Pause at 3 seconds and look at the windsock, its indicating 10-15kts xwind. Thats comfortably within a Cessnas limitations.

  • Madness!

  • WOW!! Seriously nice landing!

  • That wasn't a trick it was ascrew up

  • I bet everyone on that plane was sweating like hell!

  • Flaming Dwagon ! .......BOOONG

  • @kikpik1 yeh, im "reatrded" what the fuck is that you joke? right since you're obviously 12 and have learning difficulties I'll say it plain and clear for you. The PLANE...that thing with wheels, wings, and is in the air, is a Korean Air aeroplane. They have a websie, and are a big company if you didn't know! If you could read, and properly read my post, you would see that i said the planes bank right, over hong kong. i never said this was a korean airport. so who now looks like the dumbass.dick

  • @Lukefarnin25 oooo i get it now. Lmao. Good job for wasting ur time for writing a paragrpah, when i dnt even giving a shit Lmao

  • Fuck me.

    They're like sky ninjas.

  • landing gear stress... DONT BREAK!!! phew.

  • I woulda shit myself

  • piece of cake

  • All the people with negative commenting on here are clearly emboldened by their successful landings on ms flight sim. Do us all a favour and shut up, since you know absolutely nothing. After the plans have banked right for their approach over hong kong, they only had 300ft to correct their turn and straighten up, so landings like this were common. As a result, accidents were relatively frequent also. And the airport got shut down, as you should know. And @kikpik1, you dumb, blind little idiot,

  • @Lukefarnin25 ur reatrded shut da fuck up

  • @Lukefarnin25 wow dont u feel stupid. If you were smart, you will know dis is hong kong airport. dumass -__-

  • That was Korean Air form South Korea. Not North Korea. They don't even have airline.

  • KIM JONG IL MAD! VERY MADDD!

  • Haven't you heard of the 'Handbreak landing'? It's fun to do in a bad cross-wind when you want to have a bit of a laugh.. ;)

Nah, seriously, top marks, that was a superb peice of flying.

  • LMFAO this aint korea, its japan. Somebody should sue the owner for copyright

  • @kikpik1 no isnt is hong kong, china.

  • @Kpj7466 yeah that too...lmfao !

  • LOL its Korean air you blind fag

  • @sangyuni96 Its hong kong dum ass -__-

  • Top half blue painting, korean flag in the tail, Korean air bro. fucking kook

  • @sangyuni96 u pussy

  • oh thats all you could come up with, good job kid I'm proud of you, maybe someday you'll make something out of yourself

  • @sangyuni96 Pussy

  • somebody give the pilot a beer he deserves it.

  • Holy shit, I thought he was going to start drifting.

  • how can avoid and be survive in any accident? how can be survive in any crime disaster? see energihaq dot kom to get easy way and permanent protection with YOUR "God's secret" in your Body. Generate by Simple Traditional Way

  • Jesus... I wonder how the hell the number 1 main landing gear is still intact after that landing.

  • it was chuck norris

  • holy cow

  • Pretty nice move.

  • I would be so pissed off if I was on that flight hahaha enjoy your flight my ass!

  • hahaha....

  • well done sir. i take ma hat of to that sort of controll

  • For all you armchair pilots - check the windsock..... it would be a 30kt windsock and being half erect (insert all you 14 year old flight simers giggling here) it is indicating 15kts - well within a 172s crosswind envelope. It isn't a good landing its a buggered up approach and he paid for it over the runway threshold.

  • lol this is like me trying to land on flight simulator.

  • this is not a crosswind landing, it's juz turning not enough at the final. Check the wind condition at 0:03~0:05 and u will know

  • They fly just like they drive, Like shit. jk lol

  • OmG Pr0 PiLOT

  • the pilot is probably shitting it :P

  • too bad !

  • um anyone notice that the wind sock is kinda drooping. Just an observation.

  • Great skill

  • You gotta be shittin' me. Unbelieveable! Mad props to that pilot.

  • wowzers and trousers

  • Apparently they use this vid for aero engineers to show how one 747 wheel can support the whole fucking plane on a heavy landing. Good work pilot.

  • a couple of highly skilled pilots making one of most legendary crosswind landing at this notorious Kai Tak Airport.... :D

  • not the best landing. Clearly there was some cross wind but along with that some more pilot error too.

  • @TejasM14 , err for the conditions it was an extremely good landing actually

  • nice pilot!!

  • Amazing skill. Outstanding landing, in some very trying circumstances. After seeing this, it would be my honor to fly aboard a Korean aircraft.

  • Could you imagine what must have been going though the minds of the passengers in the left hand side of the plane when you get a better view of the runway than the pilot!

  • oak leaves diamonds & swords!!!!!

  • heyschnüffel gibts den keinen hier der mit mir chatten mag bin so gelangweilt

  • That was solid landing! KAL pilots pull it out!

  • At 10 sec. passengers must of been $h!tting their pants Lol. Had it been an emergency landing I would put him right up there with Capt. Scully, I have a mere 300 hours in a cessna and have not flown in 20 years, and I thought, yea he's got skills, and pulled it.......,but my first reaction was that this guy should be fired!

He probably requested a "fly-by" on final approach like in Top Gun Lol

  • that's called a crosswind landing if you dont know

  • this pilot have an ass in his trousers :D

  • @TheTxxxnator of course he did!

  • Most incredible landing I've ever seen. The plane was 45 degrees to the runway seconds before touchdown.

  • what does it mean when an aircraft is banking small amounts rapidly left and right at cruise rapidly? it was banking left and right continuosly quite quickly i noticed this when on a flight to houston and i no they get quite rough weather in that area. could it be the aircraft correcting for a strong xwind at cruise. I thought normally a aircraft flies a specific heading to maintain a desired track. are aircraft ever banked constantly to maintain a desired track even if only a single degree

  • wondered how tht happened. crosswinds dont do tht kinda thing. he probaly had the wrong angle

  • I think he overshot the turn which turned it into a landing that brings millions of views.

  • korea always suck

  • Look how close engine number one comes to the runway.

  • the reason why this landing is looked at the most is because the boeing landing gear testers were astonished by how much weight the far left main gear had withstood. if you look at it you can see that all the weight of the 747 was put on that one gear.

  • the wind condition was to bad for strait landing so he had to approache like that

  • Too bad some Asian airlines tail-skided their aircraft at this airport. I bet there's a few China Air passengers who would have wished they didn't (had they lived to tell).

  • It's the ego of the captain which made that plane land this way.

  • @MartinIrma ....i´d tell The captain´s SKILLS...cos there are NO 747´s pilots with less than 20 years of "fight"...if you got me

  • @MartinIrma NO its not you idiot..If you knew ANYTHING about aviation you wouldn't make a stupid comment like that.

  • @ToddHoon Well, if I'm mistaken, alright. But don't scold please.

  • This pilot was not on the centreline on his approach as he should have been. That is why this looks so dramatic. Whilst the last bit of flyiing was good the lead up was poor....and yes I am a pilot

  • @Aussiephil99 Well IF you are a Pilot its obvious you've never flewn into that particular airport because if you had you would know that was not the case. Stimpy You Idiot!!!! lol

  • @ToddHoon ...have you ever flown an aircraft in your life?

  • @Aussiephil99 Typed on a Citation 10 and XLS. and you? You must be a very proud captain of a Mooney Mite. lol

  • wow it landed on the left gear only thought it wuz gonna collapse =/

  • i bet it was the pilots fault to decide to land in such extreme condition but at the same time he last second decision saved alot of lives

  • passengers on the left side window have experience same as from pilots' perspective.

  • is that true..??

  • Korean air had so many accidents..? I never knew ethat before. Lol

  • Whos those idiots ranking it poor comments? the pilots are skilled to do something like that!

  • And how exactly is that?

  • @epix474 but also retarded.

  • This isn't a crosswind landing...look at the limp windsock and calm water...no wind.

He overdid it on the IGS (a bloody hard approach), and instead of going around as he shouldve, he tried to salvage a landing out of it...and the end result speaks for itself. Touchdown well short of the aiming point, using only half the available runway width, and probably less than a foot away from an outboard engine strike on the port side.

Poor judgement and airmanship...typical of KAL

  • Right you are....look at the smoke cloud from the wheel burn. It isn't blowing sideways. He came around the mountain to far left and had to slide over to the water's edge to line up. Almost scratched the paint on #1 engine.....LOL

  • @TheGTSR - Looks to me like the outboard port engine did strike the tarmac, for a fraction of a second. Replay the video and step through, you'll see a tiny bit of smoke/debris coming off the engine cowling.

  • DAMN good PILOTS !!

  • Comment removed

  • most korean 747s are old by today's stds. that pilot got it lucky there.

  • wrong. korea has some of the newer 747's (actually newer fleet regardless of manufacture or series). I've flown over 100,000 miles across both of the major Korean airlines (asiana and korean air) and compared to the US fleet and many others, they are much newer. Korea's fleet is on average 10 years old -vs for example all the major US airlines which are 15+ years old.

  • damn cool & quick minded & relax pilot

  • WOW! very skilled pilot.

  • is this at kai tak too??

wow really heavy crosswind thr... kudos to the pilot!!!

  • Skillz!

  • Absolutely brilliant flying. Kudos to that pilot. I'd like him for all my flights.

  • your comment was horrible... don't say shit

  • @JAvideoDesigns

that shit is hard to do

    is called "crosswind landing"

hes not horrible, but the contrary, hes excellent

  • Korean Air is nice airline i think.. liked their uniforms too

  • Good crosswind landing That was a good pilot who knew what he was doing.

  • makes me wonder if the pilot was thinking "holy shit" or "hey, watch this"

  • Cool!

  • how could such thing happen ?

  • By crossing the wings. (both right and left)

then the wing in the back.

  • omfg pro

  • doing that with a 747 must be hard lol

  • nice :)

  • i give the pilot a gold star =)

  • The nostalgic Kai Tak airport =D

  • sie mo skośne łocy to sie tak ląduje.

  • This is skills...

  • kudos !!

  • "REEEEROYYY JENNNNKINS!!!!"

  • Awesome job! Putting a big mama like that into a slip and then pulling out at the last second...Those passengers probably didn't like it, but truly marvelous job.

  • i remember the guy changed the title on this vid . it used to say "WORST LANDING EVER" but loads of people said it was a class landing which it was considering what the pilot had to put up with

  • That was a great landing by the pilot. kicked in rudder just in time and landed on the centerline.

  • ground speed has nothing to do with lift, its all air speed that creates lift through the air foil high / low pressure system on the wings. you can be floating like this with a huge head wind and maintain flight.

  • Exactly.

  • great wel done

  • hey, quit spamming, asshole.

  • won-der-ful!

  • The best way to land is to fly into the wind, which is exactly what they do as long as they can.

  • These Korean Air pilots are great with their unique way of tackling a crosswind landing.

  • pilots must be really capable

they have had hours and hours of silmulator....
