When importers raise their prices due to a weaker dollar, their domestic competitors will raise their prices to just below that of their foreign competitors. @dryque2006 The problem doesn't come directly from Fed. It's the usage of fiat currency, which make the presence of Fed vital. Therefore, abolish fiat currency will make more sense. And btw, does Ron make a good president? I doubt that. He may sound intelligent to some due to his long winded questions, but he definitely is not a economy-wise enough, someone like bill clinton. Good presidents often speak rather short and precise.

It's amazing to me that of all the Republican candidates for President, the only one that has a lot of experience and high poll numbers is the only one that is discounted right off the bat. Don't people (especially the media) realize that by saying over and over ad nauseam that Ron Paul has no chance to win, they are influencing people not to vote for him, because they think they'll be the only one and will have wasted their vote: i.e., it is a self-fulfilling prophesy.
