i just got back from bigstuf today and they bwerent able to come either...:( everyone wrote letters to their country saying how not cool it was to not let them go... i still had an amazing time! we did get to skype josephine from the daraja choir though:)
In Daytona? I was at that one too. It makes me sad that such talented children couldn't come. lol at the end of my letter (I was in a bit of a bad mood) I told them that they need god in their hearts, because if they had that, they wouldn't keep these people to them selves and that I would pray for them. And I have :)
i went this year (2011) and they werent able to come every1 was devastated no one was happy they truely are amazing i just wish that we could of had the chance to see them =)
I love these kids. :-) Haven't been able to sponsor a child yet, but I'm working on getting the money to make a difference... Because these kids made a difference in my life.
They came to my church this past Sunday and they were awesome. They were so sweet I got hugs without even asking...they just came up to me and hugged me. Too bad American can't be as humble as those children. They are not ashamed of where they come from and they appreciate everything they have.
They were amazing this year and one of them was named Vivian too! its crazy to know that children like them are mostly orphans and in the village, they hav 2 go down a hill and walk 4 miles just to get water, which isn't safe to drink. Vivian is 10 years old and has to take 8 trips PER DAY to get water for her grandmother and siblings because she's never met her father before, her mother passed away and her grandmother can't go herself. Every child in the chior has been sponsered! Yay, Vivian!
do you have any idea what this kids have been through?
god is their only hope and escape, and their love for god is what brought them to the US and they spread his word more than any missionary i have every met
dude i loved meeting people from a totally different world i loved the feeling when i started sponsering one i was awesome thanks for an awesome summer ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
this was my favorite song that they did. we got to learn the motions and a few of my friends and i still do them when we play this song at church. they are truly amazing(:
i saw them at big stuf and i loved them, and they came to my church last night and i told my family "I have to go." i love listening to them sing and joining them in worship.
they were supposed to come to the camp that i was at last year, & had a problem getting here in time. so when they got to come this year i was SUPER excited! i cried basically the whole entire time with my best friend. hopefully i'll get to see them again
What's amazing is that they dont do it to put on a show for us... its truely ALL for God's glory. And for us who go to BigStuf as campers, who have it so much better than them, dont worship nearly as hard or with as much passion as they do.
I am forever inspired by the Daraja Children's Choir!
wow, they still give me chills. that was an amazing week. they are truly what made me decide to sponsor a child. to see their faces and personalities made it so much more real.
i just went this week with centenary, and god revealed himself to me through all of everyone's efforts to help us through tragedy. thank you so much. my life is changed forever.
I went to the Big Stuf Camps in '99 and '00. I bet it has changed a lot since I've been there. I wish we had the African kids back then! My sister just served as an Namibian missionary for 14 months. Amazing! Can anyone tell me if one guest is still chosen each week to come to camp for free? I was unable to go in '02 and wrote Lanny a letter recommending someone I knew. I have no idea if he ever received it though.
yah i was there to
