  • You can connect a DVD having an HDMI output to a TV having an HDMI input with an HDMI cable. Or you can use a component cable. In either case it will work. In this video we were just trying to show a common component video connection. We have a few other video posts showing other connection options. Thanks for asking and feel free to post more questions.

  • An HDMI cable and a Component cable (component cabling having 5 RCA connectors on both ends of the wires as opposed to only 3 RCA connectors) perform the same function. HDMI is digital. Component is analog yet both can transmit a resolution up to High Definition resolution so long as both the DVD is a HighDef DVD/Blur-Ray and so long as the TV is also a HighDef TV

  • What about the HDMI cable. Is the HDMI cable just necessary to receive the cable signal, or do we have to connect it to play a movie on the DVD player ?
