Jeff owns the copyright still - He sold them the rights to film a version of the film as war of the worlds, but he kept the "The" and was very specific about the importance of it at the time. As he wanted to still release his THE war of the worlds later. He could have got more money if they had been allowed just that extra word.

Not sure mate, I would think around 2010.. The film will be set in a victorian England setting and also feature the thunder child and the original jeff wayne musical score...

I think even later, in an inteview Jeff Wayne said that most of the time is taken up by the live shows. The first date was 2007 and I believe, well we are past that now. But I think 2010 is a bit early, especially becouse there is another Live Tour coming up next year... But still I hope the movie will be cool, but I just don't think that Jeff Wayne's music (wich is a masterpiece) will fit inside a real movie...But knowing Jeff Wayne, I doubt he will release it when he is nog a 100% satisfied...

The easiest way to see the latest cgi footage is to buy the live dvd concert of Jeff Wayne's 'The War Of The Worlds'. The concert was filmed in 2006 in London and features a huge screen at the rear of the stage showing almost 2 hours of cgi footage. However, as for the so-called-film-version we keep being promised by Jeff Wayne, personally, I dont think we will ever see it. He doesn't own right's to make a film, Paramount pictures do. He has rights to a musical version based on the 1898 novel.

Except the dvd is not available in region 1 (USA) so unless you have a multi-region dvd player, you are SOL in the colonies.

I've been trying to get a region 1 dved for 6 months, I get shipped region 7 or some other incompatiable disc.

Obviously the theme is about pretty girls smokey eyes and not just about rehashing tripods on the back of an already successful hollywood movie, stage show and upcoming animated film.

Third grade version. This is so gimmicky.

It tries to mix the original with a low grade beat (obviously ripping off the excellent Hybrid mix from UllaDubulla remixes) and doing what Vanessa Mae did in the early 90s with Toccata and Fugue. Frankly, this sounds more dated than the original.

I take it you are referring too the 2005 Spielberg/Cruise film. That film is NOT the WOTW, not in the H.G.Wells sense anyway. Jeff Wayne's is (so far) the only adaptation which is close to the original 1898 H.G.Wells novel. Spielbergs WOTW is good as a stand aloan sci-fi movie, but it's certainly NOT the WOTW. It's a anti-terrorist movie, with the terrorists being the aliens themselves in light of the terrorist attacks such as 9/11.

It was a shame this was never actually released as a proper single, but I believe this was down to the Tom Middleton 'The Eve Of The War' remix. Would have been like a clash of the remixes. In a way I prefere this version as it contains more original sampled excerpts than the Tom Middleton version.
