  • Fricken awesome how i ended up here! watching the keys is pretty cool and it sounds great to me and i know nothing about keyboards LOL!

  • maybe i already posted this, but you oughta hear my Pro One Patch for this instrument. Sounds really cool. Nice one there, too. Cheers

  • You inpsired me so much that I'm gonna keep a old DX7 that needs restored & just keep it!

  • Muito bom,

  • I'm ready to party lol... Good Job

  • i prefer the Prophet to emulate the lead synth in ' Dont Go '. I have some good presets for it. sounding good though, and nice playing.

  • Have you got an 808 tucked away somewhere???

  • try : toto - africa, toto - stop loving you

  • I can't really dig/appreciate the JP8000 in this cover. I think a lot of your other equipment could have done the job in a better way.

  • @Keybern I am agree, key. This was more a "playing approach" video than "sound approach" itself. Anyway, the Pro One sound is not easy to recreate with my other tools

  • @Keybern maybe the JX8P!

  • @DX5 well, I thought the same. I have the Jx8p as well, so I will give it an attempt myself ;-)

  • How you take the arpeggio ( of wich synth ? )

  • I love the sound!!

    Gegards from Germany

  • This guy plays the boards like a god

  • you send me the midi?

  • hello, I love your videos I am fan of vince, which are running the midi? forgive the English

  • Hi, great cover...is there any possibility of a midi file of the bass line? Please please please..

  • quels sonorités avec ces instruments!ça me rappelle la bonne musique des années 80.c'est super

  • Good enough for Alison to sing to. Love all your videos, some cool playing.

  • I've watched this dozens of times, its fantastic! :)

    ~Peace.

  • Very impressive.

  • You make it look easy, I have a CZ 3000, maybe someday I'll get motivated and mess with it. I used to be able to do Van Halen 1984 and Jump

    Thanks for your video.

  • AKG headphones?

  • I have used a Prophet for the lead sound of this song and it sounds quite good. more wavy attack on the filter and such. nice job too btw

  • Super job ! Thanks !!!!!!!!!

  • where's the bass synth coming from?

  • U are gay ;)

  • Good.

  • Very cool! hehehe!

  • Double You - Run TO me =D

  • Even at only 360p I can't believe the dust on the roland jp-8000!

    Nice job man.!:-]

  • @NEILVANCE Not rust, but weared painting :) If you see it live, it doesn't seem to be so rusty :)

  • @NEILVANCE Roland's are the best & were certainly Vince Clark's favorite.

I agree!!! You have to try that situation cover!!

    Great job!

  • Man, you should do a cover of "situation", I bet that would be amazing!

  • very well played

  • nice.

  • I love the 12" of "Situation" i have most of the 80s stuff on 12" :)) have a listen to it J ? ;)

  • *GASP*!!!!

    I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!

    =3

  • EMAX brutal!

  • Nicely done. Try finding a sequential Pro One. It will give u the right sound for Don't Go

    Cheers

  • Bravo!

  • Vince Clark genis!

  • VERY GOOD!!!!

  • VERY GOOD!

  • superb!

  • what is the synth at the top used for the synthertic toms?

  • brillant n wonderful

  • flowers are well...irrelevant,,,and it's "interior" :) . Nice work DX5... enjoyed seeing the EMAX being used too. I was turned off by the JP8000 after watching "Rock Star Apprentice" a couple of years ago. I thought it sounded pretty good here.

  • Love your clips. i just bought a Yamaha dx7 and will start to learn keyboards.

In your clip "don't go" when you aren't playing on the keyboards im hearing a sound that i'm trying to replicate. a lot of rnb songs had similar sounds, i think they call it bass synth. can the dx7 produce similar sounds, if so do you know how? id like to play "the message" by grandmasterflash, "ill be good" by renee and angela, love come down, west end girls etc, i hope you can help

  • yes encore une fois !!

  • WOW! Awesome job.

  • ARGH I LOVE YOU!

  • All the songs choices are excellent!!! I can't stop listening. When are you going on tour. lol

    thanks

    :)

  • Awesome

  • I've listened to a lot of your stuff now, and you're excellent. Now all you need to add is vocals

  • YYYYEEEEAAAAHHHH!!!!!

  • Great job man! Love the phat bass :)

  • Nice!

  • Very good. I bet 5 hours in that room flies past like 10 minutes!

  • Great work

    really nice sound!!!!!!

  • you are ******* brilliant!!!!!

  • You are awsome. You should hit me up!

  • great, and the blue monday one, also flawless.

  • fantastic! Can we see a video of how you have connected the synths/Emax to the PC?

  • Kick ass!!!! Don't listen to these haters. My Korg M1 is in my house and I play it all the time!!! Jealous posers who have nothing to do but to hate on others!!!

  • i am so totally JEALOUS!!! I WANT THAT SETUP!

and i'll bet he lives with his wife, or girlfriend, and they have no kids..and he has a good job..thats the only other explination other than living with mum and dad to have a setup like that!

  • It doesn't cost that much to get a setup like that. Ask yourself whether you waste money on cars, credit cards, fashion, cable channels, football, clubbing, drinking or smoking instead of having something to show for yourself? What you see in that vid would only cost about £2.5k max and the equipment actually being used here £700? The Jp8000 is only £300, use software synths and its even cheaper.

  • @jeimikaze "i am so totally JEALOUS!!! I WANT THAT SETUP!"

Then get a job and buy it. None of that gear is expensive.

  • Envidio tu soltura! A ver si yo cojo la misma!

  • im impressed with all your backing tracks they all sound really good allmost like how they would sound as for real.you could be making your own karaokes next

  • sweet

  • wow you make it lot easy....nice

  • great man

  • Nicely done!

  • The flower-interieur doesn't fit with the synths and the t-shirt

  • I agree :)

  • damn that's a FAT baseline coming out of that JX8P!!! Very powerful...

  • are you sure thats the jx-8p?

  • yea, in his other video that describes how he made the cover, the baseline is performed on his jx8p

  • He only performed it on the JX-8P to get the note information (could have been done on any MIDI keyboard), the bass sound does not come from the JX-8P itself, it was from Reason Subtractor on his Mac.

  • @DX5 me caes bien cabron! eres un chavo a toda madre!

  • when you spend that much on keyboards you have to live with mom,,,, lol

  • @folkermitf

this is real Oldschool lookin maan! ^^

  • amazing!

  • wooooooooooooow amazing i knew it would be fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sounds amazing! Good job man. Very impressive. Makes me wanna dust off my keyboard.

  • Amazing again. 5*****

  • Love this song. I'm blown away, great job!!

  • good job. 5 stars.

  • Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! +5

    Salu2 genio!

  • I am speechless. Outstanding work, once again.

  • this is what I was waiting for!!! you rock man

  • Genius.

  • Fantastico, 5*

  • The sounds could really use some tweaking - lose the flat acoustic drums as they don't help. Sounds like General Midi file.

  • That's pretty much true, but if you listen to Vince performing this one live back in the 80s you'll notice that also there the sounds are much cheesier than on the studio LP.

I guess 99% of the drum sounds on the album were triggered from some huge analogue modular synth (typical Daniel Miller style). No drum machine can be that punchy and rich-sounding!

An idea could be to sample the drum sounds - for example from the hyper-cool "Lucky Bastard" CD by Vince.

  • Agree with djcrudo. But it would be so easy to sample the original drums.

What I look for is to get an approaching to the sounds with my own tools.

Not agree with calyx, unless you think that an original Emu SP-12 snare sample sounds GM. That's the only acoustic drum. Other drum samples are Simmons SDS 8.

The only things I didn't add were reverbs or delays.

  • Great !!! :)

  • sssssssooooooo RETRO !!!! CCCCCCOOOLLL ):o)

  • Nice one!

  • Great (as always)

    :)

  • Love it! Could you do a cover of Yazoo's "Situation" as well?

  • omg you rock ! please do Situations too !!

  • God you did it, it's great, you've got the sound ! Very nice ,man !

  • Yesss !

  • Great!

  • one of my fav 80`s tracks ever!

Vince Clarke used the SCI Pro-One in the original track

    very good work!

    5*

  • yazoo, lol niceee, "situations" is my jam tho!!

  • You make it look easy.. now we know the work involved. : )
