  • I guess the split MSLs would be the signature truck of SF eh? They are pretty cool to watch when they can empty 2 bins of any waste stream at the same time. Very nice design by Labrie, very effective system. I don't really remember, but did the Lodals operate in the same way with the adjustable dividers? Nice array of media at 5:30! Funny seeing a cart hanging off the front at 7:14, too bad if it falls off... CRUNCH! Awesome footage and mad shot of the hopper!

  • @MitchellM15 Yes they run everywhere in Frisco!! Pretty much unique to the city and its circumstances...because most places having split body trucks is basically pointless (doesn't save fuel, just requires more trucks), but here with all the hills and stuff it's just better for one truck to take the pain ONE time per week and get both garbage and recycling in a pass. Organics obviously is separate truck.

Yes they are still buying some Lodals, and they do operate very similarly. Thanks :D

  • @Trashman242 Yeh the hills are definitely a tick for these split trucks... lots of places I can think of where they'd be suitable. I feel sorry for the trucks when they get forced up a hill, not like anyone asks if they want to make the climb or anything :P Oh so they're still buying Lodals! Good to hear, because I thought they ditched them for the Labries and Heils.

  • @MitchellM15 Well lately they've pretty much ditched buying Labries (like this one) which is a shame, but yeah still getting Lodals here and there. and DAMN do those new Lodals look nice.........all decked out with hoses and everything all over the place, super clean and everything.

  • So, THIS would be why almost ALL labries have these tippers. I like them a lot! I have only seen 2 in my life, and they were comb lifters.

  • Come down and gimme a visit next time you're in SF

  • Does Autocar still make the WXLL and WX product lines?

  • @RecologySMCKid That's a good question...I'm really not sure. I heard the answer once but can't remember if they do.

  • @Trashman242 I just saw where you heard the answer on flickr: /photos/recologygoldengate/4779410752/in/photostream

    I hope they still make them,they're cool trucks,but i don't know.

  • @RecologySMCKid haha you're right, thanks lol :D Answers both our questions

  • I love this video and the truck. I am familiar with the company Recology and their new truck. I am glad that they only use 2 types of trucks for 3 bins. The truck is also unique because of the 3D graphics on the truck. The Labrie trucks are very unique. I would also like to see more vidoes on these trucks.

  • @thelyokofannumber1 Check out videos from youtube user r6man2, he has some more video from San Francisco if you're interested :)

  • Nice! I dont see how he fits all of that in there cuz it is 2 stream of trash/recycle and such a little truck!!

  • I agree Scott...the Expert 2000 Split MSL's are the best trucks Labrie has ever made! They are so versatile and come in so many different configs. The hydraulic hopper chutes were invented and are patented by Labrie. The lifter is also the best for this application. These are my favorite trucks of all time! Great job getting the footage! It's also nice to see that they recycle so much in SF that they can use a 50/50 split :-)

  • @mcbombtings Thanks for the words--never knew that was Labrie's own patent! Glad you liked this truck, it does seem to be a REALLY good design for the city's demands, and the cardboard cage I'm sure is also nice when you've got a split body.

  • @mcbombtings It's a 60/40 split. They loaned some of them to our division on the Peninsula. They're great trucks, but they're not automated.

  • @DontKillTheTrashman Look at the tailgate @5:53...that definitely looks 50/50 to me. I've driven plenty of 60/40s and this doesn't look like one. You would have to agree that it would be pretty tough to service this area with an automated truck though.

  • great video!

i really liked that design on the side..

my favorite part was watching those two 32 gals gettin' dumped @ 3:33

of course u couldnt go w/o a hoppershot! LOL

  • @garbagekid1 Yeah most of the trucks there have that now!

Yeah 3:33 was cool then seeing the lidflip on one. Thanks for the comment, just seemed like a good driver so I asked him for it :)

  • Thats is the best tipper that i evar saw, great vid!

  • Why did he have 2 recycle carts on at once ? since this truck is a split body its like they are throwing recycling away.

  • @lawnboy1010 These ones have movable chutes, watch closely as the dude re- arranges the slides.

  • @lawnboy1010 Both chutes are moved so that both carts empty into the recycling side of the body.

  • I wish the one i used was a 70/30. I guess Labrie does make them in custom configs

  • your welcome lol

  • that tipper is awesome!

  • You know, now that I can examine one closely, it looks like these new units are no longer 60/40 but 50/50. Good job to San Francisco!

  • @ACX009 haha yes this one was 50/50 as far as I could tell--definitely the inspiration for the rest of the freaking state....Were you guys the first to implement food scraps collection with the greens?

  • @Trashman242 That seems to be true. We never had three-sort collection before the bins were rolled out. It used to be Garbage or Recycling. The only greens collection we ever had before were bagged yard waste set out on a neighborhood bulk item collection day.. which was once per year... The compost containers marked a new chapter in organics recycling for us.

  • @ACX009 when there split 60/40 recycle goes in the 60 side and trash in the 40 side

  • @caltrain2 This was the case for some of the Labrie Fleet. All the first generation units from about 2000-2002/3 were all split 60/40. However, most like 90% or so of the units used 60 for garbage and recycle in the 40. These trucks are route specific so yeah there are a few that use 60 for recycling primarily in one isolated area with a lot of schools where the residential trucks did the recycling bins instead of sending a commercial rear-load. This isn't much of the case anymore.

  • @ACX009 well in s.f if the truck is split 60/40 the larger side is always for recycle which is great.

  • These labries are becoming more and more common

  • @internationalRLfan You said it!

  • o fuck yeah. nice one scott

  • @lahluv lol thx

  • I like those colors for the carts!

    Dual tipper awesome!

    Were these guys cool?

  • @trashmaster684 Yes very friendly drivers, glad I could show you it all :)

  • nice footage! always newt to soo San Fransisco collections. I really like the green they use for there toters

  • @3amrepmike3 Yeah all their carts/equipment in general is really kept up in good shape, and for the time being all they're getting in Frisco is EVRI's so that's all you see everywhere! Viva EVR I!!! haha

  • @Trashman242 We also have some EVR I automated and I am certain I saw Recology EVR II's the other day.

  • @ACX009 Well I know EVR IIs exist further south and in other locations serviced by Recology

  • Awesome footage! Definitely can't go wrong without hopper footage! Great job! Hope you can get more footage in the future!

  • @KennysTrucks haha one day...yeah definitely will go back eventually and try filming their trucks if I get the chance. I was delighted he was willing to let me get a hopper shot :D

  • @Trashman242 Awesome! Yeah, that was nice of him!

  • great series, are those la bins the logo looks fimilier

  • @rempledisposal No they are all owned by Recology. You would have seen the same logo in my earlier-posted videos of another branch of the company near Sacramento...

    Similar logos but different companies/municipalities

  • very nice! cant wait 2 c what else u brought back

  • Very nice vid! Hope to see some more from you soon!!!! I love those cans!

  • Very nice indeed!

  • Holy Moly, are the two pics following the vid showing one with double sided tippers mounted on and Autocar ACX?

Awesome find! Never seen one of them before.

  • @ACX009 YES actually there are double tippers on the street side, I have a short few clips of that truck (notice it didn't have any image on the side also) tipping bins and you also can see them from the street side in one clip. Going to upload these in a separate video.

  • @Trashman242 can't wait, I might be able to hunt it down for more footage over the summer if I recognize the location :D

  • fantastic!

  • @tharealsteven Thnx!!

  • Was this Golden Gate Disposal territory? It would explain the truck-route numbering and the unusual two man crew.

As for public bins, it isn't that strange to see a residential truck pick up. Since it's already in the neighborhood, it might as well. Easier than sending a Retriever or Lodal after it all.

Good work and these guys see to keep their truck in very good condition. I have to say those lifters are very good but seemed dampened a bit. The older ones ripped the lids off my Toters! =D

  • @ACX009 Well I couldn't tell you what 'territory' it was, but look at my response to r6man for the intersection he was nearby to see for yourself.

haha well it flipped a lid here, right? You did see that?! haha I want to see one of the single versions in action (on video here or something). They don't have any on any trucks currently, do they?

  • @Trashman242 Nope but consolidateddisposal might be able to help you out with the single. There's one video he has where the Green Waste Condor Expert 2000 emptied a recycling container using one of the singles tippers on the left side of the truck.

The single tippers on the Labries here are identical to the one on mcbombtings truck. They're pretty brutal and I've seen them launch cans into/ out of the hopper before.

  • Nice vid, Labrie truly does make quality stuff. We have a 37yd 60/40 split body Labrie Automizer at my site and once you get used to not throwing away peoples extra large cardboard, since that would jam up the 40 side, it's actually pretty cool collecting both trash and recycle at the same time.

  • @KFCOrBust Yep, I recently saw one or two of your vids and it looks like you do an exceptional job on them--so I really can't wait till I get a chance (the time) to watch the rest of yours! If you noticed there's a cardboard cage right behind the cab on this truck for that very reason :D (obviously I know your Automizer is different and wouldn't have that since it's not an ASL, but I'm just pointing that feature out).

  • Awesome job! What time was this + where? Woah they were doing public bins? That's strange to see... Weird to see 2 guys on this kind of route... looks like it could be more of a volvo leach split route. Awesome job Scott!

  • @r6man2 Thursday around 7 AM, around intersection of Pierce/Chesnut streets. Yeah two guys on a MSL was weird for me to see, at least in Frisco..wouldn't have expected that. Yeah and they did all the public bins along the route too. Thanks for the comment!

  • @Trashman242 Yes, that makes sense. This was indeed the sector done by Golden Gate Disposal. As you can see, The area has a large commercial market and large residential set outs with multiple bins so most crew are of two guys. I guess it takes some stress off the collectors.

  • Awesome job. The truck sure has a nice design on the side of the body! Pretty cool this truck is a split!
