Phoebe Snow was noted tonight during the 54th Grammy Awards ceremony. I felt obligated to watch a performance of hers somehow. Thanks for supplying this, a really unique and heartfelt rendition.
What a beautiful, beautiful voice. I am so sad this lovely lady is no longer with us. God bless her. I agree. No glitz, no glam, Just pure talent Love you, Miss Phoebe.
I also love that certain unique tone in her voice that I've never heard in any other vocalist- you can even hear it in her speaking voice at the end, when she introduces the band. I couldn't agree with OPIECT more, and there are other great examples here! She should have been MUCH more famous!
@JoeSzilagy Phoebe was well known at her time. Now a days with UTube, internet and all the others that help an artist (and even nonartist) come up to the front line. If all this had been around when Phoebe was, it would have been a different world!
Saw her with the Ny Rock and Soul Revue. She brought down the house with this song. People stood up and cheered in the middle of the song because sje was just nailing it. Phoebe was very happy and grateful. At the end of the ovation she yelled "I Love Indianapolis!" It was a shared magical moment. With this one song, she had us astounded and spellbound.
Phoebe Snow, no glizt, glam, a singer with real soul.
Beyonce, Jenifer Lopez, and Rhianna, etc the newly proclaimed "Divas" they don't hold a matchstick let alone a candle to Phoebe Snow. a great singer, woman, and mom to her daughter! You are missed Phoebe.
Larry was my closest and dearest friend. We played in bands together and shared a house for years. I was with him the night he died. I will never forget him and the sting of his loss hasn't gone away. He was a riot to be around.
@LoudGuitr the love for a musician and singer is unlike any other...cherish your bonds and memories...they live on by sharing this electrifying union with dear Phoebe. They're winking at us now. Thank you.
I never had the privilege of meeting Phoebe personally , but my cousin ,Larry DeBari who had played the Guitar for and with her on several occasions ,thought a lot of Phoebe , anyone who knew Larry, knew that he had an incredible sense of humor ,he had died of brain cancer in the late 90's ,I will see you again , Steve
RIP, Phoebe... you make me cry...

@OPIECT Amen baby. I was just playing Etta James today. She sings a version of Hound Dog in the same style of it's author Big Mama Thornton.
