  • I miss old school SMAW!!! That's what built America! But the FCAW is more economical and just as strong as stick!

  • I love fcaw and hard word u don't have to Chang out the rod everytime MIG and fcaw r faster

  • I agree with mosses

  • We no longer need to use welding machines -all we have to do now is spray on some jet fuel and light a match, presto weld complete.

  • i hate the gmaw saying when you think about it all envolves some kind of shielding gas and metal the only onethat is suitably described is gtaw or tig because it is using tungston

  • did anyone notice or was it just me? That construction guy was doing some serious number crunching off the top of his head! WOW what a genius!

  • ghad

  • i like stick welding myself.. havnt tried the others.. were jsut starting to weld in Agricultural science. but its getting to be a blast... although some idiots accidentally strike arks when noone has their helmets down....

  • anyone thats welded FCAW should try CORE-ex (metal core) wire! its as hot (penitration) as FCAW but has no slag, so less chance of inclusion. bad ass.

  • The SMAW welding is the best

  • the SMAW welding is the best.

  • The SMAW welding is the best.

  • Love Flux Cored!!!! Do they Back Gouge those welds and make 100 % welds?

  • depends, they could use backing bars or backing welds, but more than likely back gouge. any main supporting structural weld on a building is full pen.these are splices basically, so yeah full pen. 100% NDT UT

  • those guys are the real welders god bless them!

  • somthing fascinates me about this.

  • flux core is crazy i like stick welding and gmaw and gtaw.

  • flux core runs hot as hell. 90 tons of weld wire? That's nuts.

  • NR 232

  • flux core is wack

  • I second that notion.

  • I love Modern Marvels!!

  • i had my overalls catch fire twice from that :(

  • T-11 :) i was doing that today in college... my coveralls completely ignited and combusted on me from the heat coming off of that...

  • @Gobnobber i think this was t-9 wire being used. it has that purple flash to it. plus t-9 has seismic properties in the wire.

  • well i never welded that high but if could

    talk about geting high

  • im a ticketed welder and i love welding but the only thing i can think of is how much poison 90 tons of luxcore puts into the air

  • LMFAO im a retard i put luxcore not fluxcore XD

  • lWLocal, no problem heights don't bother me bro and if Iam a kid you must be an old timer.

  • What certification should I pursue in order to get into this kind of welding? Which welder gets paid better. Pipewelder/Fitter or this type?

  • for this kind of job you need plate cert. the better paid is pipewelder

  • i've heard of an outage at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (Songs) that needed certified inconel welders. it was a seven/twelve job for fifteen weeks and these welders were getting ten dollars more on top of their scale. millwrights get paid more than pipefitters here in los angeles. i know because i was one.

  • @msanchez007 be the 1/8th in and up plate cert. aws D1.1 or something i beleive. you do the test in dual sheild though, but it covers flux also. test is a double bevel V-groove 1 inch thick, overhead and vertical.

  • Let's see how you do a few hundred feet in the air hanging by your nuts, kid...

    ;)

  • flux core is FCAW.

  • I hope they are not teaching you that flux core is a GMAW process. FCAW is Flux Cored Arc Welding, GMAW is Gas Metal Arc Welding (hard wire). ;-)

  • FCAW can be (and is according to D1.1) classified as M.I.G (metal inert gas) your 100% right, this form of FCAW is just that FCAW, M.I.G that uses flux is called outer-shield and is used indoors in structural companies shops. the certification WPS although, will classify this outer-shield M.I.G welding as FCAW .. wrap your brain around that lol .

  • Shit, I thouht my 2 inch weld (16 pass) was alot.

  • Great Videos , well done dude specially for us Structural Detailers.
