  • I think the video is important and as important as other videos regarding negative effects of globalized and unsustainable economy...

  • I don´t like this video because it only shows the poorest parts of CR, this is why americans leave the plain they wonder why we have buildings, roads or cars.

  • @jbcs97 Well of course they're going to show the rural parts and the "campesinos," because that's where the pineapple industry causes the most problems. It wouldn't make much sense for them to show downtown San Jose, for example, because that's not where the issue is. I don't think it had anything to do with trying to portray the country a certain way, it just happens to be the area that's relevant to the issue. And let's be realistic, not too many americans are going to watch this anyway.

  • @akathasamurai

Costa Ricans are Americans. I'm from the USA and I watched this video. But their aren't too many Americans that will watch this. Of that you are 100% correct.

  • @rapskallion I hate it when I do something like use 'their' for 'there' - tired and didn't proofread. I wanted to mention three things that surprised me in this video. 1. There are much more chemicals going on those pineapples than I would have guessed. 2. The wage for 2 weeks was £149. 2. Nicaraguan migrants are doing much of the work. I'm not trying to make a point with this. I thought it might interest some reader to know what surprised me. (Greedy corporations do not surprise me.)

  • So! tell the world something that we dont know! CR pineapples issues so what!imigrants are always gonna get the worst slice, in CR,Europe or USA the europeans designer pants you wear are most likely made on a sweatshop, furcoat you wear many animals kiiled to make it for you, USA destroys cities to give its citizens a better well being. BY Costarican law there is a minimun wage and most have insurance so if anyone is not getting paid properly he can easily complain to the department of labor

    Gracias.

  • Fuck, this is my country, why is nobody taking care of this massacre? Money involved? As usual, it's nothing new for us. Rest of the world, please, PLEASE DON'T buy this pineapple ever! You can help stop this.

  • @MelonCiego

    Done. I'll spread the word.

  • check out Fyffes website - not a word about this.. and why should the compagny care since a lot of consumers are ready to close thie eyes and just think about themselves when they are buying fruit..?

  • So, the issue is not plant, the workers or the country, but the Europeans?

  • Sexual exploitation of minor children is responsible for 90% of "costa rica's" Gross Domestic Product (GDP). "costa rica's" Booming sexual economy is exploding and turning the country into a favorite destination for pedophiles and sexual predators. Its no wonder "costa rica" was named "The happiest country in the World."

  • @immigrantnation That is simply ridiculous. Visit and then judge.

  • @immigrantnation I live in CR and Ive never seen a minor selling his or her ass for money,Ive seen tourist picking up hookers in the capital at night just like everywhere else in the world. Minor explotation happens very secretly and foreigners are involve on this bizzarre crime so before you talk shit why dont you pay a visit and see for yourself or is it maybe that Im not a loser and I dont pay to get laid?

  • it is so, so unfair.

  • Yeah.... Jesus Christ.

  • Not a surprise - Costa Rica touts itself as an eco-tourism destination, when in fact it has many problems with it's own sustainability issues. Just ask the Chinese who are systematically raping the ocean with the blessing of the CR government.

The Chemicals they use here are brutal.
