MANDORLA after Paul Celan In mandorla , where Nothing reigns, What stands in mandorla? Two almond-shaped eyes, Royal blue. And in eyes, what stands in these eyes? A tear, a tear with dead shine inside. And this shine, what reflects this shine? The sky, the sky full of ashes and soot. Black, charred almonds, Empty, almond-shaped eyes What stands in mandorla? A royal tear, which it isn` t there
Herkersdorfer1, you need a new pair of glasses, my friend. That is indeed Rostropovich conducting the main orchestra, with Richard Hickox conducting the Chamber Orch.
Brahms . . . pfft. This is on the same level as Verdi! Fantastic performance.

And this Britten had the guts to say Brahm's music is bad?! Brahms composed music, this is noise.

I apologise. You're quite right. I hadn't got to the end of the clip. It is Hickox.

It looks like Richard Hickox conducting at 5:16

I'm pretty sure it is. Rostropovich conducted the full orchestra and chorus, and Hickox conducted the chamber orchestra and male solists it seems.
