I didn't realise that Hootie & The Blowfish's version have the lyrics incorrect from the original. That being "...higher and higher", which should be "...high and higher". Guess that's why some people at 54-40's concerts sing the incorrect version based on H&TBF's version based more radio-play..

used to see them a couple times a month in college, back before everyone knew who they were in the early 90's. They are an awesome group live and really cool guys off the stage as well. And yes even before they were "famous" they were quite popular with the ladies, but they also really enjoyed just hanging out and having fun outside the stage. The Bass player you referenced (Dean) he is a super nice guy, more quiet than the others, but has a great voice, even though you didn't hear it a lot

They do a great job but the band who actually wrote this song are better. 54-40 is one of the most underappreciated bands in Pacific Northwest history. If you live anywhere in the US (or abroad), you should check out this great band from BC.

It was huge enough for us to paint. It took about three weeks to finish it all. (Trim, Etc.) He is just South of Columbia, But I wont tell exactly =)X
