wow it's been three years since i've gone back to this video and people still argue my last comment lol. this cat here sent me some dirty mail but that's fine. i was just pointing out that you made a whole lot of work for an easy job. oh and yes you could have just one tonged that pipe with a rope but ofcourse you gotta let the worm get his hands dirty to figure it out
oh yeah and that slip and clamp deal. i can see your using that cuz you have heavy weights on. dont be a slacker us a pipe wrench do it right. a pipe wrench and a hammer my friend. lock it tight. i know doing that constantly sucks but you gotta do it. its heavy weights man. do not play russian roulet
GeauxTigersGeaux i'm glad i'm not paying the instpection and tool redress costs on your rig. and that slip and clamp thing is called a dog collar. my complements to the tool push and drillers that are training those floor hands, it was a joy to see one put on properly. using the air to clean the thread was also a very nice touch.
that slip and clamp deal is a wedding band my friend and no that is not heavy weight drill pipe. those are drill collars even the info says that. a pipe wrench is not the proper tool for it, it has a nut and threaded stud, we use an impact wrench and socket until we have to fish for the socket lol. they used a wedding band hammer wrench, which is exactly what it is designed to do. it just has to be tight not screaming and it was hit with a hammer. you are trying to correct something done right.
I thought you should know this because if you were on my rig, the toolpusher will read more safety cards on you. and you can get really hurt. lounging at the pipe when it was hung was a really really stupid idea
who ever is on lead tongs is doing a really poor job of watching his ass. dont hug the pipe when you stabbing, and if you your pipe gets hung when you stabbing, throw some tongs on it and that'll pop it in there. You dont need the tongs when you make the connection from the mouse hole, use a rope or chain. you dont need to throw it just make three wraps around the top pipe and grip firmly. then spin the rotary.
what company do u work for? and what are you talking about not using the tongs drill collars torque to around 30000lbs. you torque that with a piece of rope and the rotary? i've one tonged it on drill pipe in straight hole but never no tonged it on collars. i think you are a little confused. and as far as stabbing u just pick back up and restab it. keep it simple.
again i say, after having promoted the past 3 years to the driller now. this is a piss poor connection.
