Like many violinists, Hou disregards the tempo and proper rhythm for some weird variant thereof, in this case making the music as it was written almost unrecognizable. I offer polite applause, nothing more. Gil Shaham shall always be my favorite interpreter of this work. He takes a few unusual rhythmic liberties, but generally shows respect to the music, instead of creating this kind of bizarro-world version of it.
See her story , her father was stopped from reaching the highest level as a violinist because of the chinese cultural revolution under chairman mao . The family managed to get to Canada and Susanne was trained by her father from her earliest childhood to be a violinist in spite of having tiny hands !! Its a wonderful , heart warming true story which goes to show how hard work and dedication to music paid off for the wonderful and charming lady violinist ' Yi-Jia Susanne Hou.
no, i have to say anne meyers got pwnd on this one. susanne has that natural sweetness to her playing, anne plays barber too harshly, especially in the third movement; hilary plays perfect, but with no emotion; susanne plays it smooth, with emotion, without making the violin sound like it has not rosin on the bow.
i think hilary hahn is just as good as susanne hou as well but i think hahn is more suited to russian pieces because of her how cleanly she plays like in the stravinsky or shostakovich

At 0:12, it is supposed to be triplets. 1 bar later is supposed to be 3 eighth notes.

But please bear in mind you do not want to kick her ass. It is a pretty one, I guess.

What violin is she playing here? It doesn't look like the Del Gesu...

@WarholVirtuoso maybe it is, maybe it's just the tuning pegs and tail-peice that's differnt here..

She's amazing. Do you know any better young soloists who could compete with her?
Let me know. I wanna see them :)

Very beautiful. Her intonation is perfect. Tone reminds me of Stern.
