Out of all the articulated Atheists, Hitchen's is the only one, IMO, that makes it interesting. He can teach non-Atheists new things, without it feeling like a circle-jerk. He has a cool style. Sharp, sarcastic wit. I understand the point of the Atheist ferver, but eventually we will ALL have to leave the seriousness of Religion behind us. The urge to dream and believe in something Higher is inevitable; but it shouldn't be the means toward moral enslavement. Allow my comment; I want to learn.
@justasimplechristian Props to you for still believing in god in your lifetime and let the bible bring you peace, but a lot of us including myself don't believe and have considered a different way to find peace other than religion. In the end, I don't know, I only hope for there to be peace for everyone after this life
Isn't that Santa Clause who knows when you are sleeping or awake , so be gooood for goodness sake! What is this BS called religion dong in this century , when will people give this garbage up?
Whi is this he is referring to? No wonder Hitch isn't religious if this is the kind of God he sees or believes is being portrayed by the mainstream religion
This better not be referring to all religions, because the bullsh** he's spewing is nonsense (when applied to certain religions). He sounds more like a hate monger to me.
This really is the best moral argument against God's existence. To believe that God was just in doing absolutely nothing to stop the suffering, starvation, and death of so many generations of humans who simply didn't have the technology that we have is despicable. Intelligent design, my middle finger.
So homosapiens left Africa 75,000 years ago when there were only 2000-3000 of them alive, all of the same race and traits? I think that sounds implausible for many reasons, mainly because that's about 2000 generations (being generous) and the differences between races is pretty vast.
@Vanastarr: People can start having children at about 12-15 years old. And not many even lived to be 37. So if we esitimate 14 year old girls making babies, we get about 5000 generations.
That is fast, got to admit but apparently thats the way it happened. We dont have other explanations.
@bary1234 You have a good point about the average age of death but I disagree with the average age for having children and given the fact that by far not everyone reproduced I think we would be looking at something more like 3500 generations I guess, still really small to consider how much we have evolved from the homosapiens no?
@callofduty497 : We can relate to those people or animals suffering. We can imagine ourselves on their place, we can imagine that same situation happening on our own neighbourhood.
We have empathy and compassion "build in" to us by natural selection.
@callofduty497 : Its that tendency for compassion we get from natural selection. I can relate to that person, I can understand what he is thinking. And what he thinks that I think. And what he would feel If I kill him. And what people who know him would think and feel if I kill him. And I can quess how I would feel after killing a man. I think I would have nightmares and feel really bad about it. I would be changed as a person for doing that, in a profound way. And I dont want that change.
@callofduty497 : I accept that god is not going to reveal himself for me :) I am an Atheist. I think god is imaginary, and people just fool themselves with fairytales. We, as species, are very prone to superstition. We have a vivid imagination, it has been essential to our survival in nature. We make up explanations and conspiracy-theories always, naturally. It comes like breathing, and we dont have to even try. But we are often wrong, and fooled by our own imagination.Religion is one such case.
@callofduty497: Yes, something like that would be just fine. I've also heard lots of stories of convertion. They sound really interesting. Bring it on, please :)
@callofduty497 : Its like burning off half of the library, and trying to pick what books we should keep. Its not a task one human can or should attempt. Its going to end badly, we would defenately loose lots of information.
Supernatural lawgiver would be interesting, and would have to be pretty damn smart. There is no evidence for it, so unfortunately we seem to be on our own. Not doing too well for it, but this is the reality we have.
@callofduty497: Hitler seemed to try and take control of the "breeding of humans." Similar as we breed dogs to various shapes and sizes. And in evolutionary view, problem is that humans cant do that because we are too dumb. Again, that is clearly seen from the dogs. Lineages we breed would not survive in nature anymore, they are bred by us for survival on artificial enviroment.
So if only a certain bunch of humans would be to live, it would make our genepool much smaller.
@callofduty497: Evolution strengthens the trades that survive from one generation to the next. On humans we can see that we are clearly tribal, we work in family units and tribe-units. We have strong evolutionary drive and instinct to provide for our own family, and to act as a part of our own community. Apparently people who enjoy causing pain to others, have been less succesfull in nature. Propably because the community casts them out or ends their lineage otherwise.
@callofduty497 : Yes, that rock is not evil, nor is the wind or earthquake that dropped it. So deliberate causing of harm by a sentient being is what I aim for.
@callofduty497 : If you like, we can talk about evolution too. I would surely like to know what reasons you have found for the falcehood of evolution.
@callofduty497 : Likewise, thank you for taking the time to respond. Only way to learn is to bounce our ideas from other people.
So what evidence would count as evidence for god. Personal revelation I think is pretty much the only way god could be accepted. So god would have to come and talk to me, and people around me should have the same experience, to rule out personal meltdown and insanity.
@callofduty497 : Of course I am an evolutionist. Evolution is an undisputed fact.
Evil is an subjective idea, we each have our own version of it. My idea broably is that evil means causing unneccessary suffering to other living creatures. Meaning animals, plants or mushrooms. I dont know how much suffering plants or mushrooms can experience, I hope none at all. But thats my definition for evil.
@bary1234 - You say that your interpretation of evil is that which causes unnecessary suffering for other living creatures.
I think you may have forgotten the details of my question, sir... I was asking for a procedural definition in evolutionary terms. I think to say that unnecessary suffering is wrong is one thing; to prove that that concept on unnecessary could have evolved is quite another. I think your statement contradicts the very jist of evolution, which is natural selection.
@callofduty497: Yes, evolution seems to not care about causing suffering to others. But actually, now that we have the techology to end all life from this planet, we can clearly see that using that technology would end our own lives also. So keeping the whole biodiversity alive is essential for our own survival. Our actions on this world have reactions that respond bluntly back to us. Our current lifestyle of consumerism and overpopulation is coming back to bite us in the ass.
@callofduty497 : The very fact that there is zero evidence for any god, is reason why Atheism is the logical conclusion of any intelligent person. Also Atheism is the default positition of all humans, only given up by some weak individuals because of lies and nonsense pushed from religious people.
You find that cosmology gives evidence to a talking snake, burning bush and virgin birth? How do you manage that conclusion?
@callofduty497 : On all superstitions, the imagined god likes the same things as the people believing in it like. god is always on the side of the guys who talk or think about it. Because they are the ones imagining that god, they effectively are the puppet-masters of their imaginary friend.
god is not to blame for anything, since god is imaginary. if god of the bible were real, it would be an abhorrent monster.
@Woodsyone They thing is that people's actions don't exist in a vacuum, their actions are informed by their beliefs and world view which makes it relevant.
@Woodsyone That is a silly answer Woodsyone. Yeah sometimes people do things on impulse but it's still going to be based on our perceptions of reality... to sit there and try to deny that the things we believe affect how we perceive the world to a large degree and thus affect the decisions we make to a great extent is to deny human psychology.
In the same regard... I've seen it where people consider other people "lessor" or called flat out "stupid" for profession a faith or belief in God or Jesus. THAT is wrong plain and simple and amazes me that its not considered "right" to have any kind of faith and to go with the crowd. Yes I understand people take religion to extremes but I'm not talking about that, rather those (many) in society that believe in God and contribute many helpful efforts anyway they can.
@chrism137 : Well its because people have actually been thinking about god, trying to find evidence for god, and trying to justify the belief to god. We know god is a failed hypothesis. We know bible is a horrible book, quran is a horrible book, there is no reason to believe in a creation, prayer always fails, miracles never happen..
its just stupid to believe. And its wrong to do anything based on a religion, and all opinions based on religion are based on a lie.
The response in itself is full of doubt and hate based off of personal satifaction and what others have told you growing up reguarding the subject. It almost seems like you "hate" anything to do with God or the supernatural and if osmehow you were to findout that it was real you'd accept it perhaps but you'd still hate Him because thats a choice YOU have made reguardless of His exsistance. Thats what Hell is for... those who chose to reject God's grace and then live it out.
@chrism137 : So you believe in a fairytale. And because of blind chance you were born in states to a christian family, you have the same superstition as your parents. Its a baggage your family has brought with it from the bronze age, passing it on to children like herpes.
From bible: "Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves."
@chrism137 : From bible: "For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death. "
So you take virgin girls for yourself, kill off all their relatives. Thats commanded by god. You kill everybody who work on sabbath? Thats billions of people. You better hop to it, its gonna take a while for you to kill everybody. Are you going to stone them all?
@chrism137 Grow up and read a science book. If you don't accept god you have to burn for eternity. That makes me want to burn bibles. If the book calls for my burning in hell then surely it is ok to burn it. As with any literature that aims to cause harm to people through making another commit atrocities.
@chrism137 to be in a place for eternity with the likes of you isn't heaven, it's your ideal of hell. Hell for me would be filled with jerry falwell's and pat robertson's and catholic priests touching little boys. But you seem to think because you pat your bible and quote things that your supposed learned morality is better and that all others deserve punishment. Then you are no different from islamics, jews, nazis, japanese during ww2, or china. You believe in facism.
I walk around everday like im one of the only people in the world with the big secret religion is bullshit. I come and here and see all these comments from intelligent, moral people who value skepticism and honesty over faith and dishonesty. The problem is I never get to meet any of you! We should all wear funny robes or stupidshit on our head to let everyone know our beliefs. And we could spot the intelligent, honest, sensical people from "the flock." And maybe go door to door....
Organised religion is the second biggest problem on this planet after overpopulation. These medieval barbaric ridiculous cults have dragged us down for too long. Its high time we end superstition before it ends us.
@HoLOLcaust : Weapons are good for killing, but if there is no reason to kill it does not happen.
Religions are a handy excuse to kill.
I dont say that after superstition dies world is perfect. We will continue to be primitive tribal greedy mammals, so lots of bad shit is going to happen in the future. But atrosities based on religions are just so stupid an unneccessary, and all the effort and money spent on religion should defenately go for something else.
to be an atheist is to not believe in God. to be an atheist about other false religions makes no sense, it's an oxymoron. But i guess there is no more point in arguing anymore. I hope you have a good rest of your life, and I pray now that God opens your heart and your eyes to see the light of his truth and hear his call for your repentance. God bless you friend.
@Jazybp Plz show me how we came to be with 100% certainty. With out a hundred possible scenarios that pan out or that are possible in some form or anouther. Dont say well the evidence points to this or as far as we can tell this is how it happened. Show me the exact way it happened with out changing your theory 10 years later.
@Mrlllusion Please tell me why I should follow your way of life, which was created by bronze age men in a desert as an appropriate way of viewing the world! How about we have a serious view of the world where we take everything that we have learned over the past 2000 or so years both intellectually and philosophical, instead of that 1st century knowledge which you hold dear to your heart. Religion is awful, stops progress and causes great suffering. Proves nothing. Oh btw look up random mutation
@Jazybp Because we can actually show and prove that random mutation works and is more than a "theory". And by the way you wouldn't dispute the theory of gravity as heavily as you dismiss the theories of "The Big Bang" or "evolution". A theory is a proposition that can withstand tests, if it fails theses tests it is dismissed. Unlike religion that fails all of our investigations but we can't do anything because "It's the word of god"
@Jazybp Y so hostile. Not telling you to follow anything to each his own we all make our own choices. And religion does not stop progression lol look how far we have come and learned while it has been here. O and about the suffering part in almost every case where religion is tied to the suffering of another its do to a Human not the religion. So with or without religion there still would be suffering take this repeated example Hitler Stalin both no religion both mass murderes.
@Mrlllusion We have religious people constantly telling us what to do and think, you only have to look back at George W Bush or Tony Blair.
And religion seriously stunted our progression, just look how they burned biologists and murdered astrologers for "blasphemy". The Dark Ages were called "dark" for a reason, the very nature of religion stunts progression as it claims to have all of the answers, so why look further?
Hitler was Catholic by the way and this has been proven, read Mien Kampf
@Jazybp It shames me to know the evil done in Gods name but to point out small fractions in time periods like the dark ages holds little lite to the fact that religion hasnt stopped progression. I mean no offense but to say that we should stomp out religion so that we can be more educated (which by the way i think we are doin fine so far) is like saying we and i quote should stomp out science to get rid of polution or get rid of money to get rid of greed.
@Mrlllusion : Stomping science would pretty much end pollution. I mean If we discarded the things science has given us. We would be naked, picking berries and insects to our mouths with our bare hands.
@Jazybp It shames me to know the evil done in Gods name but to point out small fractions in time periods like the dark ages holds little lite to the fact that religion hasnt stopped progression. @Mrlllusion : Religion has not stopped progression because there has always been atheists. Religion has had way too much power, but not absolute power. So some people have stil been working to advance out knowledge, even if they had to hide from superstitious kill-teams.
@Mrlllusion : Hitler was devout roman catholic and did gods work.
Nobody does bad things in the "name of Atheism."
As long as you keep your superstition to your self, and dont teach it to children, its fine by me. As long as you stop brainwashing children you can be as mad as you like inside your own head. That way your superstition dies with you, and this world will be a better, brighter place for it.
@bary1234 Hitler ws not a devout Roman catholic. Nazism was inherently atheistic, and most of the people who stood up to him did so on Christian priniciples.
@macktheknife3 : Nope. You are wrong about hitler and Nazis. People who opposed Nazis might have been believers, but so were the Nazis. It was christians againsts other christians, both sides thinking god is on their side. Both wrong off course, since god is imaginary.
@bary1234 Many Nazis were christians, Hitler was not, though he did play at Christianity to get people on his side. The eventual goal of Nazism was the dissolution of religious establishments. Religion is a pretext not a reason, if people want to kill eachother or take eachothers stuff, they will find a way to justify it. There is a fundamental difference between espousing beliefs and actually acting on them. People such as von Stauffenburg did.
@macktheknife3 : So you are saying hitler just lied about believing in god, and doing gods work? How can you proof he did not believe when he kept on saying he did believe?
Hitler said for example about Atheists: "We have to put an end to denial of God and abuse of religion." So he did not seem too friendly towards non-believers.
You can write: "Adolf Hitler's religious views" to wikipedia and get lots of material.
Hitler a devout Catholic? He was devoid of ANY morality, like Stalin, and so many other moder dictators of the left. Hitler jailed plenty of Catholic priests as well as other christians. Not once was he ever shown to go to church while he was Der Furher. Where do you get your facts?
@plougasnous : Well hitler atleast said he believed in a god. Religion was big part of what nazis did, their uniforms even had belt buckles that said "god with us."
Surely hitler killed lots of people who believed in a god, but that says nothing about his own belief. Belief in god never stopped anybody from doing what they please. Religions can be used to justify absolutely anything.
Write "Adolf Hitler's religious views" to wikipedia, theres plenty of material.
Statements of belief in God or going to church on Sundays is a convienent fiction for most politicians here in America. Pandering to religious voters is an old game everywhere. "Gott Bei Uns" was on German army belt buckles before WWI. Hitler was a masterful liar on many fronts. He duped the Brits and the French very easily, even after WWII started. Large sections of British upper classes liked Hitler as well as French "callabos."
@plougasnous : So you want to believe hitler did not believe. Why?
Does it undermine your religion that somebody else was crazy? Inquisition was also crazy, did they also lie about doing gods work?
My opinion is that religious opinions are worthless and ridiculous. Voicing any religious opinions on campaigns should be an automatical political suicide. Superstition has no place in politics, schools, work places, or families. Religions belong to individual heads, and there it should stay.
You assume too much: religion is a fantasy. Most people need this fantasy to soften life's tribulations. It is too hard to believe that this is the one and only life. I agree with almost everything that the trotskyite Hitchens says about religion. The problem is in soceities where religion was banned or strongly discouraged, Soviet Russia, China, Cambodia, Cuba, etc., life was a living hell. Mass murder was the order of the day.
@plougasnous : Fantasy is vital. Imagination is one of our strongest assets. It has been essential for our survival as species, and continues to be so.
Atheists imagine things also. I for example love to read fiction and read comics and watch movies. Making up stories and theories is fun and natural. I just know that stuff that I make up, is stuff that I make up. Its not real. And that is my point. We should never teach children that stories we made up are real. Because they are not.
@bary1234 The idea of a supreme being is totally irrelevant; It would be better for you to stop arguing against religion (also very irrelevant to thinking people) and look at the evidence of our origins. Please read the two following books by Zacharia Sitchin: "When Time Began" and "Genesis Revisited." This author goes through the records (over 30,000 clay tablets) of ancient Sumeria of about 4000 BC. This explodes ALL theories of the garden of Eden or the preposterous theory of evolution.
@plougasnous : "preposterous theory of evolution." That is pretty much the dumbest things you can say. So you have fallen for the creationist propaganda. How in the hell did that happen? You have no schools where you live?
Arguing against religion is vital. Superstition causes untold harm on this world, we have to fight it.
@bary1234 Years ago I read a book titled "The Neck of the Giraffe," by Francis Hitching. This book exploded Darwin's theory without any reference to the bible or "god's word." If you want to be one of the evolution herd, just stay blind to other ideas. There are more than the existing two simpleton theories out there about our origins. I strongly suggest that you read: "When Time Began" and "Genesis Revisited." If the sum total of you knowlege comes from YouTube, you are lost.
You don't even know how to read. Never did I say that I believe in biblical stories about creation. Nor do I believe in silly Evolution theories. None of the books that I am suggesting support any creationist ideas. Your ignorance is incredible: you are a herd follower of flawed sceintific ideas. There are other ideas in this world. Your Trotskyite buddy, Hitchens, correctly sneers at one (creationism), but slavishly mouths the conventional wisdom of the world of science.
@plougasnous : So you are not an christian. Yet you reject evolution so you do have some superstition holding you in the dark ages. I wonder what you are. Somekind of new version of christianity? Keep the jesus but skip the talking snake?
Did you keep the biblical flood and one family incesting like crazy to produce all humans?
@bary1234 Well! stay with the herd; it feels good with to be in one rut. I have looked carefully outside the two herds brain dead mouthers of conventional wisdom. Suggesting to look OUTSIDE of these two worn out and useless theories is too hard for you. Now you sound like a christian who dares not think anything but what he has been told. As for you, the flawed world of science is not to be questioned. And then you twist yourself into knots trying to prove that I am some kind of believer.
The Neck of the Giraffe: "Francis Hitching believes evolution is directed by some sort of cosmic force. Hitchins plagiarises material from Young Earth-creationist books."
He is a thief and a liar, like a proper creationist.
Again remember rule one: Creationists lie. Thats all you need.
@plougasnous :When Time Begun and Genesis Revisisited: "Zecharia Sitchin promoting an explanation for human origins involving ancient astronauts.Sitchin's theories are not accepted by scientists and academics who dismiss his work as pseudohistory and pseudoscience. Sitchin's work has been criticized for flawed methodology and mistranslations of ancient texts as well as for incorrect astronomical and scientific claims. "
@plougasnous: Zecharia made up a fairytale about aliens genetically engineering humans. He lied and falcified evidence to support his fictional stories. And you think this is better "theory" than evolution? That this is not nonsense like creationism?
@bary1234 Ah! Again another shallow internet junkie takes his opinions from snippets of "analysis" from other shallow internet junkies who will not put the time in to do some real reading. Are you that pathetic? You are no better than the foolish creationists who will not look at or read anything other than approved religious tracts. You are as broad minded as the creationists that you despise. So called "scientists" only mouth what is approved. They are as much a priesthood as any faith.
@plougasnous : Oh, did I hurt your precious pride? You believe frauds and liars. These writers you adore are superstitious morons, and invoke creation even if you wish it would not appear so.
Broad mind to you means believing any shit anybody comes up with. You believe in bullshit with zero evidence.
Scientists dont lie, and creationists just lie. Scientists look at the world as it is, and if they make a guess they say its just a guess. Creationists lie that they know stuff nobody knows.
@bary1234 Make sure that you only "read" what is scientifically approved. You sound just like the a creationist who only reads fantasies approved by the lord. Only in your case, you depend on the lords of science to get the "truth." One day you may see what feet of clay these "scientists" have. We have already seen what a bunch of frauds the preachers of the "holy word" have turned out to be and have always been. You are falling hook, line, and sinker for a special sort of snake oil.
@bary1234 So the more than 30,000 Sumerian clay tablets where he derived his information are not worth looking at? I love how you just cut and pasted straight from Wikipedia: really good analysis on your part! Better hurry back to your YouTube videos and get some more unoriginal ideas that you can just spew forth with cuts and pastes. You are a real intellectual! My guess is that you are around 12 to14 years old.
@plougasnous : Oh, those clay tablets are propably very interesting. To somebody who can read them they can actually give some real information.
To Zecharia, who just lied and made up bullshit, they were just a tool to be exploited to support his nonsense-books. He just made money out of curiosity of superstitious idiots. How much money have you already spent on his ridiculous books? He's family is laughing all the way to bank because his fraud-books are still selling after his death.
@bary1234 "Forbidden Archaeology" and "The Hidden History of the Human Race", and SCIENTIFIC CENSORSHIP. Just deviate from the accepted theory and see what happens to your job as a research scientist. Look these two books up.
@plougasnous : Yes its annoying that people dont believe the shit you just made up. Nobody believes the fantastic crap that just pops out of your brains. They demand evidence, all sorts of logic and reason before they believe. Just making shit up is not appreciated at all. That is so hard and unfair. Why is science backed up by evidence concidered "real" and shit you just make up is concidered "not real." You can make up much more exiting shit than reality. Still nobody believes. Damn it sucs.
@bary1234 Scientific "open mindedness." An oxymoron
The Western scientific establishment and mass media pride themselves on being open public forums devoid of prejudice or censorship. However, no television program examining the flaws and weaknesses of Darwinism has ever been aired in Darwin's home country or in America. A scientist who opposes the theory cannot get a paper published.
"Facts of Life: Shattering the Myths of Darwinism" by Richard Milton
@plougasnous - what rubbish. If the paper was based on scientific principles of course it would be published. Even if someone said that Santa does exist at the North Pole - and could credibly make a case for it. The reason it can't (and this is true for God) is that there is no evidence. At least not real evidence - rather than whymsical poppycock. The reference you quoted is one such fancy as it not only has to disprove darwin, but virtually every field of science that says tha same thing.
@plougasnous : Just remember: Creationists lie. They lie. They make up shit.
Dont believe them, they lie.
They dont tell the truth, they make up shit and say its true. But its not true, its a lie.
Creationists are stupid and they lie. They have had way too much air-time on medias already, they should never be accepted to talk even to cows on a field.
@bary1234 Since you never read anything but Wikipedia, how can you judge for yourself? Because Wikipedia told you Sitchin was this or that or a reviewer said it. Read for yourself. It takes time. Christopher Hitchens did not get his knowledge from Wikipedia. He read many, many books. If you want to be a shallow internet pundit, just keep being an internet junkie. You will sound smart, but you will know nothing. Your puffed up head will be deflated over and over by thinking people.
@plougasnous : I could recommend you lots of proper science-books. Creationist books are easy, since there is just that one rule about them. They are lies.
Next time you open one of those Sitchin books, just remember that it is lies from cover to cover. It helps you to digest the material much better. And you can avoid embarrassing yourself in public in the future. Since you are less likely to mention that you have ever even read such ridiculous garbage when you realise what a load of crap it is
@bary1234 I'm glad that you read it yourself and gave your fine, thoughtful judgment. Or is it Wikipedia and the lords of science that are stopping you because they said so... Just follow the proper thoughts like a good little sheep. At least I've looked at other things than the THEORY of evolution. I wrote creationism off over 30 years ago and until someone can show me otherwise, I will pursue any credible idea. I don't need Wikipedia, the Trotskyite Hitchens, or scientific approval...
@plougasnous : Dude, creationists lie. Get it to your head.
You dont need scientific approval because you make shit up, and believe others who make shit up. You fucking pay your hard earned money to buy nonsense and bullshit depicted as facts. Thats just sad and stupid.
@bary1234 At least I read something other than Wikipedia. It sounds like you have never read any book in your life. If you think that science is so pure look at what happened to Alfred Wegner when he proposed the theory of Plate Tectonics at the first symposium of Geologists in 1912. They threw him out of the symposium and told him that he was crazy. So much for broad-minded scientists. And so it goes with the stupid idea of global warming and so many other things in science.
@plougasnous "They threw him out of the symposium and told him that he was crazy. So much for broad-minded scientists."
So how is it that we understand plate tectonics now? I think you'll find that it is through scientific research. How does your computer work? Through the 'closed-mindedness' of science. It disgusts me when people denigrate science while enjoying it's achievements. If science is so flawed, stop taking medicine, using your phone, your car and your computer. No? Thought so.
@plougasnous : Dude, I have read so much more books than you ever will. And most of them were fiction :)
Glad you brought up Wegener, he is a good example of how science works. He had a hypothesis about the continental drift, but he could not give compelling evidence. So, with the data they currently had, most scientists rejected the hypothesis at that time. When the evidence eventually was gathered, whole world of science followed the evidence and accepted the continental drift as a Theory.
@plougasnous : So you see, just making shit up is not enough. Everybody can just make shit up. Your creationist writers for example are just making shit up. If you have zero evidence for the shit you make up, you deserve rejection. And you will be rejected, by everybody who has any critical thinking and scientific integrity. The more preposterous shit you make up, the better evidence we demand for it to believe it.
@plougasnous : See thats the difference between a Hypothesis and a Theory. Hypothesis is just shit you make up. Its basically a quess. And when you give your quess to a scientific community, they try to shred it up, brake it to its components and destroy it if they can. If they can, its ruled as nonsense. If they cant, they keep on trying and testing it for years and years. If it still survives, if it lasts all the tests and stays intact and true, it can be finally accepted as a Theory.
@bary1234 Another scholar ( a friend of Einstein's) was given the Wegner treatment in the late 1940s. Read about it "The Velikovsky Affair." Another example of open minded scientists. About Wegner: by the1960s the scientific priesthood claimed that they knew all about plate tectonics all along. This is the problem with science: it has its own priesthood and you better not deviate from the accepted line. Science is not open, free inquiry. It is a very narrow minded, closed world.
@plougasnous: Yes, this is what happens to all scientists and to all hypothesis ever produced. This is what critical thinking and scientific method is. This is why Theory is such a powerfull title. If you search any scientists, bringing forth any theory, you see they get the same treatment. Its basically like a flock of vultures or a running lawnmower where you throw your idea. They shread it, they arque about it, they try their hardest to show why it is bullshit.
@plougasnous : Thats why it works. And If your theory never gets any evidence behind it, it will just stay in that lawnmower, being chewed away forever. It is never forgotten, but it waits for somebody to figure out more evidence against it or for it.
Just making shit up is not enough. And you obviously dont appreaciate how much shit people make up daily. People come up with so much stupid ideas and nonsense-explanations all the time its just overwhelming.
@plougasnous : Creationism is one of those stupid ideas that has been ripped to shreds, chewed up and spit out by the scientific method. Showing that is has nothing supporting it, no reason to believe in it. Thats why these new morons who come up with it just get the verdict straight away. Because they dont bring anything new to the table, there already is an aswer for them.
That Velikovsky-fellow is just another con-artist making money from idiots. Scientists now he is full of shit.
@bary1234 You can't escape name calling in your blogs. Great minds talk about ideas; mediocre minds talk about events; shallow minds talk about people. Where do you fit in that lineup? Your pathetic name calling doesn't bring forth any solid arguments. I am a non-believer, but I respect other peoples' opinions, even those of deluded believers. You certainly cannot hold a candle to Hitchens, who backs up his ideas and aruments without resorting name calling and belittlement.
@plougasnous : Superstition is a problem to people. So if we are to talk about supertitions, we have to talk about people.
So you "respect" beliefs? Care to test that? Lets start with something pretty obvious. Raping a baby-girl cures aids. This is widely believed in africa, and this "cure" is used, a lot. Sex with a virgin cures aids, so younger you rape the better your chances. Is this a respectable superstition in your view?
@bary1234 Your quote " Raping a baby-girl cures aids," is a false analogy. These are not views; this is sick behavior that only twisted sick minds tolerate and justify. This is what happens when these various countries became de-colonized, whether they were in Africa or the middle east.. It has been downhill all the way since then. Do you see Hitchens having a discussion with such animals. I am talking about people with shared values, not some 3rd world dump that you live in.
@plougasnous : You said you respect other peoples opinions, even ones of deluded believers. And now you are taking it back, because it was bullshit. Belief that having sex with virgins cures aids is a sincere belief. They really think it is so. And that idea comes from same magical thinking that produces gods and jesuses and talking snakes and all other forms of religion. Its just as grounded in reality and valid as any other religious point.
@plougasnous : Colonialism brought even more magical thinking to Africa and middle east. It made superstition even deeper and more powerfull. It causes these horrible superstitious rapes and murders. Its funny you call these superstitious people animals, as if they were bad by their own choosing. They are bad because they are told that magic works, that there are gods and jesuses and miracles and superpowers. That people have an afterlife, this life does not matter. All this nonsense is wrong.
@plougasnous : But ordinary stupid gullible people dont know it. They, like yourself, think he has interesting ideas. And he can spin scientific words and consepts so that a stupid person might be compelled to agree that he seems to have a point. Maybe this is the best Vacuum Cleaner on the market, since this salesman says so. I dont know anything about vacuum cleaners, but just look how nicely he talks, so sincere and straight man. I buy 2 of these vacuum cleaners from you kind sir. Is cash ok?
@bary1234 I'm glad that you are far superior to those ordinary, stupid, gullible people. But if you haven't read any of Sitchen, you cannot know what he says. I like Sitchen's writing because it is a layman's prose and is not loaded with scientific terms. And his writings are a SPECULATION on our origins that is very different from creationism or so-called evolution. Read it and treat it as such. You can even put his name in YouTube and see what comes up, since no one wants to read.
@plougasnous : Ok, now you are waking up. Now you are saying that these books of yours are just stuff made up, not to be taken seriously. They are just stories.
Well, yes they are. Thats what I have been saying all along. And that is why scientific community does not take them seriously. Because they should never be taken seriously, by anybody. They are just stories.
So why again did you feel bad about the fact these storybooks did not get scientific approval?
@plougasnous : And still you say "so called evolution. " As if evolution was something other than a fact.
That is the problem with pseudoscience and bullshit that is sold and produced constantly all over the word. It clouds the issue so that some people actually think there are alternate theories to evolution. That there are some "equally valuable" ideas that counter evolution. That is not true. Evolution is an idea that has been chewed up by vultures of scientific community for 100 years.
@plougasnous : Evolution stands in that shredder easily. Evidence supporting it is just piling up all over the place. Every field of science supports evolution. There has never been seen anything that has shaken evolution, no matter how much we study and learn. It just keeps on getting stronger. Evolution is a fact.
Thats another thing you need to get in your head. Next to the fact that creationists lie.
@Mrlllusion : Hitler was a devout catholic and did his atrosities as gods work. Stalin went to church-school as a child, so his mind was wrecked by supersitious nonsense.
@Jazybp Plz show me how we came to be with 100% certainty. With out a hundred possible scenarios that pan out or that are possible in some form or another. Dont say well the evidence points to this or as far as we can tell this is how it happened. Show me the exact way it happened with out changing your theory 10 years later.
If you need evidence of our origins, read the two following books by Zacharia Sitchin: "When Time Began" and "Genesis Revisited." This author goes through the records (over 30,000 clay tablets) of ancient Sumeria of about 4000 BC. This explodes ALL theories of the garden of Eden or the preposterous theory of evolution.
Naturally, this author's ideas are totally disparaged by "scientists" and religious fundamentalists.
@plougasnous : Urgh, you used to talk like this? You actually called these storybooks "evidence?" You need to think about things before you talk, somebody might believe you.
He just rambles upon the idea of earth's age. A previous debate vs Lennox he said he'll take 100,000 now 75,000. I cant believe anybody with common sense would believe this garbage and call it scientific. He has no idea what he says. All he screams is "follow me i have no idea where im going"
@justasimplechristian Actually the African origin hypothesis places the date between 50K to 100K years, but the multiregional hypothesis puts it at 2.5 million years (this latter one contradicted by recent evidence). Nonetheless, the numbers are estimates. Hitchens' point was how we are to believe that heaven watches for that long over this species with all the pain & suffering to claim all is well because some carpenter in a remote part of the Middle East to be sacrificed as a scapegoat.
@poolerboy0077 Well now you escape in the ream of religion to determine whether a hypothesis is true or not. If we are to be scientific, a hypothesis is simply based on on previous observations that cannot satisfactorily be explained with the available scientific theories. Therefore, it all based on a theory not fact. I know where you can find truth and not theory but that disturbs nonbelievers because it deals acutely with their unrighteous heart and disdain for the Word of God.
@poolerboy0077 The only truth there ever is was and always will be is Jesus Christ. His revelation is showed to us through the gospels, eye witness accounts, prophecies fulfilled, miracles performed, unfolding events predicted by scripture, and most importantly of all washed away sins through his own sacrifice to satisfy God's wrath for sinfullness. If that sacrifice is believed, and Christ becomes the Lord and Saviour of one's life, that my friend is not a hypothesis.
@justasimplechristian Um, sorry but none of the gospels are eyewitness accounts. Even the Gospel of Luke attests to this at the beginning. But even if they were eyewitnesses for the sake of argument, so what? There are 'eyewitnesses' to UFOs, lockness monsters, and Sathya Sai Baba the south indian guru who performs miracles. All you have is a book that makes assertions. So do all the other religions that you are atheistic about.
@poolerboy0077 you are taking after human intellect that is limited by its own ignorance. We as humans can't see what happens 1 second from now but yet somehow we know what happened 2.5 millions of years ago, when there wasn't even an earth to sit on. 2.5 million years ago didn't exist because before time ever was, eternity was, and eternity is what lasts forever. Even scientists are coming to the conclusion that the universe has a stop...meaning there is something above of it all. ETERNITY.
Respond to this video... A very decorated scientist named Herbert Spencer that died in 1903 discovered that all reality, all reality, all that exists in the universe can be contained in five categories...time, force, action, space and matter. Spencer even listed them in that order...time, force, action, space and matter. That is a logical sequence discovered only in the 19th century. Going to Genesis 1:1 and you all may check this out God gives us that sequence in the exact sequence.
Respond to this video... Genesis 1:1. "In the beginning," that's time..."God," that's force, "created," that's action, "the heavens," that's space, "and the earth," that's matter. In the first verse of the Bible God said plainly what man didn't catalog until the nineteenth century. Everything that could be said about everything that exists is said in that first verse.”Imagine what more truth God has for us in His word if the first verse explains all the reality there is for us now.
@bary1234 I take a dim view of your definition of simple. Simple rather means: plain, basic, or uncomplicated in form , nature, or design; without much decoration or ornamentation; of or characteristic of low rank or status; humble and unpretentious. I appreciate your help in defining who I am, and I would like to respectfully decline your ambitious zeal and uncharacteristic approach to defining a word so simple, such as "simple", but duly noted and much appreciated. Thank you.
@justasimplechristian : But in this case, since you are stupid, and superstitious and ignorant , and delusional and lost and wrong, we should define word "simple" as stupid. As in simple-minded, perhaps?
Because other definitions might cover up the fact that you are an superstitious fool, that would not be good.
@bary1234 As in perhaps too unsophisticated for you. You've made your point finally, but do remember this: And you will perish, too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God. Luke 13:3
@bary1234 Look Bary, your attacks against me I'm ok with and I do not resent you for that. I want however to warn from such attacks against God and His holy word the Bible which you do not understand or therefore read, or apply to your life for that matter. The bible does not teach me to go on attacks and cal you stupid and curse you off the face of this earth, it's beyond me why you would think it reasonable or humanely for you to do that, you have no idea who I am, If I am a father, or a
@bary1234 devoted husband, or an honest hard-worker that takes care of people,or someone who likes to help others when I can and have the chance, or someone who enjoys the same life you were granted to live under the sun. That simply makes you a bit ignorant of the facts, just because you don't know the facts you see. I had a coworker that would swear the bible was just fantasies...Thats fine I thought, a week or so later she would fall down dead in her bathroom of causes i do not want to detail
@bary1234 I would be careful as to not to disrespect the very God that you so curse and accuse of not being real and hurl unfounded accusation at His bible, because your time just like mine is coming soon to stand before Him, mine maybe sooner than yours, yours maybe sooner than mine. Like I demonstrated, you accuse me of being stupid but do not know any measure of my intellect or what I do with my life, that's ignorance. You show the same ignorance toward God. Be careful! take care
@justasimplechristian : Let me get this straight, your coworker doubted god so god killed him? And you are saying that my blasphemy is getting me killed by god?
I attack your faith in nonsense. I attack your superstition. I attack your creadulous belief with zero evidence. If you want me to believe like you, dont just give me empty childish threats. Show me your god. Give me a reason to believe. Give me evidence.
@bary1234 Whether one doubts God or not they will die. The question that you need to ask yourselves is why do we die? Your blasphemy is not getting you killed...where did I say that? I don't think you are arguing my points correctly. you are starting to put words in my mouth not carefully examining what I am writing. I wrote to warn you not to threaten you. If let's say you see a blind man is walking down a straight path, and before him appears a fire pit, you by the common sense that you were
@justasimplechristian : Sorry if I mistakenly took your talk about dying as a threat, just got that vibe from your comment.
Why do we die? We have telomere-regions of repetitive DNA at the end of a chromosome. Telomers wear out an after that our cells die. That kills us, if accidents or disease or other people dont kill us first.
@bary1234 So I'm learning about that then. So the chromosome replicates itself to replace other dying cells. When the telomere becomes too shorter many replications, the chromosome reaches a critical length and can no longer replicate, so it dies off during a process called apoptosis. This process can only bring the fact that there is a molecular clock that winds down. Do you know what the chance for protein molecule to evolve by chance is. 1 in 10 to the 161st power.
@bary1234 Molecular Biology has determined that there is no primitive cell to begin with so therefore the whole evolutionary process from a primitive cell is biologically impossible.
@justasimplechristian : Molecular biology has not determined that there is no primitive cell. Thats bullshit. Actually we are pretty close to building primitive cells on a laboratory. Turning non-life to life is just another puzzle to solve.
And those 1 in 10 to the 161st power-statistics are just stupid. Even with those odds life had 1 in 10 to 3000 powers chances to start. Or propably that number is lot bigger. And that is just on this planet. And planets out there outnumber imagination.
@bary1234 born with you would stop the man, and tell him what's ahead of him so that he redirects his path and not fall in this fiery pit, and maybe help him along the way until he is safe. The evidence is all around you, and in you. The question is, Do you really want to know the things of God? Those things that are only holy, pure in nature? The things that speak of Jesus Christ? Ok, your DNA is made up of information...Evolution does not produce information. From the beginning your DNA had
@justasimplechristian : But in this case the fiery pit is inside your imagination. Its a fairytale, told to you by your parents who got it from their parents. Its a game of superstitious telephone straight from the stone-age.
@justasimplechristian : Bible is part of that game of telephone. So who gave you the bible? It was not on the shelf at your home, so where did this nonsense land on your lap?
@bary1234 to have had the information stored by a creator. Your eyes, are a creation of God. You were not there present before God decided what you were gonna look like and what form your body was going to have. You were not there when the world began so therefore you cannot assume that you know God didn't create the world. God left us in writing the account of His creation and the matches up perfectly with what we see with our eyes, smell with our noses, hear with our ears. Morality, is a
@bary1234 please explain how evolution produces information. RIght I said that our DNA contains information and that is one simple reason that evolution cannot be true because evolution cannot create information because evolution needs millions of natural selecting process because the information needed for an active DNA was not present. But in order that you have an active DNA you need all its components active at once instantly, so how can evolution produce something gradually when...

Vanastarr 10 months ago
@Vanastarr: People can start having children at about 12-15 years old. And not many even lived to be 37. So if we esitimate 14 year old girls making babies, we get about 5000 generations.
That is fast, got to admit but apparently thats the way it happened. We dont have other explanations.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 You have a good point about the average age of death but I disagree with the average age for having children and given the fact that by far not everyone reproduced I think we would be looking at something more like 3500 generations I guess, still really small to consider how much we have evolved from the homosapiens no?

@callofduty497 : We can relate to those people or animals suffering. We can imagine ourselves on their place, we can imagine that same situation happening on our own neighbourhood.
We have empathy and compassion "build in" to us by natural selection.
bary1234 10 months ago
@callofduty497 : Its that tendency for compassion we get from natural selection. I can relate to that person, I can understand what he is thinking. And what he thinks that I think. And what he would feel If I kill him. And what people who know him would think and feel if I kill him. And I can quess how I would feel after killing a man. I think I would have nightmares and feel really bad about it. I would be changed as a person for doing that, in a profound way. And I dont want that change.
bary1234 10 months ago
@callofduty497 : I accept that god is not going to reveal himself for me :) I am an Atheist. I think god is imaginary, and people just fool themselves with fairytales. We, as species, are very prone to superstition. We have a vivid imagination, it has been essential to our survival in nature. We make up explanations and conspiracy-theories always, naturally. It comes like breathing, and we dont have to even try. But we are often wrong, and fooled by our own imagination.Religion is one such case.
bary1234 10 months ago
@callofduty497: Yes, something like that would be just fine. I've also heard lots of stories of convertion. They sound really interesting. Bring it on, please :)
bary1234 10 months ago
@callofduty497 : Its like burning off half of the library, and trying to pick what books we should keep. Its not a task one human can or should attempt. Its going to end badly, we would defenately loose lots of information.
Supernatural lawgiver would be interesting, and would have to be pretty damn smart. There is no evidence for it, so unfortunately we seem to be on our own. Not doing too well for it, but this is the reality we have.
bary1234 10 months ago
@callofduty497: Hitler seemed to try and take control of the "breeding of humans." Similar as we breed dogs to various shapes and sizes. And in evolutionary view, problem is that humans cant do that because we are too dumb. Again, that is clearly seen from the dogs. Lineages we breed would not survive in nature anymore, they are bred by us for survival on artificial enviroment.
So if only a certain bunch of humans would be to live, it would make our genepool much smaller.
bary1234 10 months ago
@callofduty497: Evolution strengthens the trades that survive from one generation to the next. On humans we can see that we are clearly tribal, we work in family units and tribe-units. We have strong evolutionary drive and instinct to provide for our own family, and to act as a part of our own community. Apparently people who enjoy causing pain to others, have been less succesfull in nature. Propably because the community casts them out or ends their lineage otherwise.
bary1234 10 months ago
@callofduty497 : Yes, that rock is not evil, nor is the wind or earthquake that dropped it. So deliberate causing of harm by a sentient being is what I aim for.
bary1234 10 months ago
@callofduty497 : If you like, we can talk about evolution too. I would surely like to know what reasons you have found for the falcehood of evolution.
bary1234 10 months ago
@callofduty497 : Likewise, thank you for taking the time to respond. Only way to learn is to bounce our ideas from other people.
So what evidence would count as evidence for god. Personal revelation I think is pretty much the only way god could be accepted. So god would have to come and talk to me, and people around me should have the same experience, to rule out personal meltdown and insanity.
bary1234 10 months ago
@callofduty497 : Of course I am an evolutionist. Evolution is an undisputed fact.
Evil is an subjective idea, we each have our own version of it. My idea broably is that evil means causing unneccessary suffering to other living creatures. Meaning animals, plants or mushrooms. I dont know how much suffering plants or mushrooms can experience, I hope none at all. But thats my definition for evil.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 - You say that your interpretation of evil is that which causes unnecessary suffering for other living creatures.
I think you may have forgotten the details of my question, sir... I was asking for a procedural definition in evolutionary terms. I think to say that unnecessary suffering is wrong is one thing; to prove that that concept on unnecessary could have evolved is quite another. I think your statement contradicts the very jist of evolution, which is natural selection.
callofduty497 10 months ago
@callofduty497: Yes, evolution seems to not care about causing suffering to others. But actually, now that we have the techology to end all life from this planet, we can clearly see that using that technology would end our own lives also. So keeping the whole biodiversity alive is essential for our own survival. Our actions on this world have reactions that respond bluntly back to us. Our current lifestyle of consumerism and overpopulation is coming back to bite us in the ass.
bary1234 10 months ago
@callofduty497 : The very fact that there is zero evidence for any god, is reason why Atheism is the logical conclusion of any intelligent person. Also Atheism is the default positition of all humans, only given up by some weak individuals because of lies and nonsense pushed from religious people.
You find that cosmology gives evidence to a talking snake, burning bush and virgin birth? How do you manage that conclusion?
bary1234 10 months ago
@callofduty497 : On all superstitions, the imagined god likes the same things as the people believing in it like. god is always on the side of the guys who talk or think about it. Because they are the ones imagining that god, they effectively are the puppet-masters of their imaginary friend.
god is not to blame for anything, since god is imaginary. if god of the bible were real, it would be an abhorrent monster.
bary1234 10 months ago
Will people stop bringing up Hitler or Stalin or what ever as a valid point for argument?
Hitler was also a man.
He breathed air, he walked on earth.
And was sayd to be a vegetarian.
So fucking what, i dont like cristian beliefes, since i dont like them, not because one or another used them to kill alot of people.
Measure things by theyr own merit, not by irrelevant things like people who use them.
Neither atheism or cristianity or guns kill people, other people do.
Woodsyone 10 months ago
@Woodsyone They thing is that people's actions don't exist in a vacuum, their actions are informed by their beliefs and world view which makes it relevant.
dawn0293 10 months ago
@dawn0293 Actions are made by people, not fairytails.
And people can act impulsively, do things without having a reason or outside stimuli to act as a trigger.
Woodsyone 10 months ago
@Woodsyone That is a silly answer Woodsyone. Yeah sometimes people do things on impulse but it's still going to be based on our perceptions of reality... to sit there and try to deny that the things we believe affect how we perceive the world to a large degree and thus affect the decisions we make to a great extent is to deny human psychology.
dawn0293 10 months ago
@dawn0293 Im not denyng anything, other then the shifting of blame.
If one kills another, regardless of his/her reasons or beliefs, it was that one who killed the person.
I take problem with people who use Hitler as some weighty argument to play down atheism or cristianity or vegetarians or what ever other thing.
I take problem with people who blame video games, movies, music, gun factorys, or what ever other thing for the actions of few man fools.
Woodsyone 10 months ago
In the same regard... I've seen it where people consider other people "lessor" or called flat out "stupid" for profession a faith or belief in God or Jesus. THAT is wrong plain and simple and amazes me that its not considered "right" to have any kind of faith and to go with the crowd. Yes I understand people take religion to extremes but I'm not talking about that, rather those (many) in society that believe in God and contribute many helpful efforts anyway they can.
chrism137 10 months ago
@chrism137 : Well its because people have actually been thinking about god, trying to find evidence for god, and trying to justify the belief to god. We know god is a failed hypothesis. We know bible is a horrible book, quran is a horrible book, there is no reason to believe in a creation, prayer always fails, miracles never happen..
its just stupid to believe. And its wrong to do anything based on a religion, and all opinions based on religion are based on a lie.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234
Thats what Hell is for... those who chose to reject God's grace and then live it out.
chrism137 9 months ago
@chrism137 : So you believe in a fairytale. And because of blind chance you were born in states to a christian family, you have the same superstition as your parents. Its a baggage your family has brought with it from the bronze age, passing it on to children like herpes.
From bible: "Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves."
bary1234 9 months ago 31
@chrism137 : From bible: "For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death. "
So you take virgin girls for yourself, kill off all their relatives. Thats commanded by god. You kill everybody who work on sabbath? Thats billions of people. You better hop to it, its gonna take a while for you to kill everybody. Are you going to stone them all?
bary1234 9 months ago 43
@chrism137 Grow up and read a science book. If you don't accept god you have to burn for eternity. That makes me want to burn bibles. If the book calls for my burning in hell then surely it is ok to burn it. As with any literature that aims to cause harm to people through making another commit atrocities.
buddcinder 9 months ago 32
@chrism137 to be in a place for eternity with the likes of you isn't heaven, it's your ideal of hell. Hell for me would be filled with jerry falwell's and pat robertson's and catholic priests touching little boys. But you seem to think because you pat your bible and quote things that your supposed learned morality is better and that all others deserve punishment. Then you are no different from islamics, jews, nazis, japanese during ww2, or china. You believe in facism.

Mrlllusion 11 months ago
@Mrlllusion Please tell me why I should follow your way of life, which was created by bronze age men in a desert as an appropriate way of viewing the world! How about we have a serious view of the world where we take everything that we have learned over the past 2000 or so years both intellectually and philosophical, instead of that 1st century knowledge which you hold dear to your heart. Religion is awful, stops progress and causes great suffering. Proves nothing. Oh btw look up random mutation
Jazybp 11 months ago
@Jazybp Because we can actually show and prove that random mutation works and is more than a "theory". And by the way you wouldn't dispute the theory of gravity as heavily as you dismiss the theories of "The Big Bang" or "evolution". A theory is a proposition that can withstand tests, if it fails theses tests it is dismissed. Unlike religion that fails all of our investigations but we can't do anything because "It's the word of god"
Jazybp 11 months ago
@Jazybp Y so hostile. Not telling you to follow anything to each his own we all make our own choices. And religion does not stop progression lol look how far we have come and learned while it has been here. O and about the suffering part in almost every case where religion is tied to the suffering of another its do to a Human not the religion. So with or without religion there still would be suffering take this repeated example Hitler Stalin both no religion both mass murderes.
Mrlllusion 11 months ago
@Mrlllusion We have religious people constantly telling us what to do and think, you only have to look back at George W Bush or Tony Blair.
And religion seriously stunted our progression, just look how they burned biologists and murdered astrologers for "blasphemy". The Dark Ages were called "dark" for a reason, the very nature of religion stunts progression as it claims to have all of the answers, so why look further?
Hitler was Catholic by the way and this has been proven, read Mien Kampf
Jazybp 10 months ago
@Jazybp It shames me to know the evil done in Gods name but to point out small fractions in time periods like the dark ages holds little lite to the fact that religion hasnt stopped progression. I mean no offense but to say that we should stomp out religion so that we can be more educated (which by the way i think we are doin fine so far) is like saying we and i quote should stomp out science to get rid of polution or get rid of money to get rid of greed.
Mrlllusion 10 months ago
@Mrlllusion : Stomping science would pretty much end pollution. I mean If we discarded the things science has given us. We would be naked, picking berries and insects to our mouths with our bare hands.

Mrlllusion 10 months ago
@Mrlllusion : Religion has not stopped progression because there has always been atheists. Religion has had way too much power, but not absolute power. So some people have stil been working to advance out knowledge, even if they had to hide from superstitious kill-teams.
bary1234 10 months ago
@Jazybp : Actually Stalin also was mindfucked by christians, since he went to a church-school as a child.
Since gods answer to everything is killing everybody, no wonder that kind of teaching produces mass-murderers like Stalin.
bary1234 10 months ago
@Mrlllusion : Hitler was devout roman catholic and did gods work.
Nobody does bad things in the "name of Atheism."
As long as you keep your superstition to your self, and dont teach it to children, its fine by me. As long as you stop brainwashing children you can be as mad as you like inside your own head. That way your superstition dies with you, and this world will be a better, brighter place for it.
bary1234 10 months ago 11
@bary1234 Hitler ws not a devout Roman catholic. Nazism was inherently atheistic, and most of the people who stood up to him did so on Christian priniciples.
macktheknife3 10 months ago
@macktheknife3 : Nope. You are wrong about hitler and Nazis. People who opposed Nazis might have been believers, but so were the Nazis. It was christians againsts other christians, both sides thinking god is on their side. Both wrong off course, since god is imaginary.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 Many Nazis were christians, Hitler was not, though he did play at Christianity to get people on his side. The eventual goal of Nazism was the dissolution of religious establishments. Religion is a pretext not a reason, if people want to kill eachother or take eachothers stuff, they will find a way to justify it. There is a fundamental difference between espousing beliefs and actually acting on them. People such as von Stauffenburg did.
macktheknife3 10 months ago
@macktheknife3 : So you are saying hitler just lied about believing in god, and doing gods work? How can you proof he did not believe when he kept on saying he did believe?
Hitler said for example about Atheists: "We have to put an end to denial of God and abuse of religion." So he did not seem too friendly towards non-believers.
You can write: "Adolf Hitler's religious views" to wikipedia and get lots of material.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234
Hitler a devout Catholic? He was devoid of ANY morality, like Stalin, and so many other moder dictators of the left. Hitler jailed plenty of Catholic priests as well as other christians. Not once was he ever shown to go to church while he was Der Furher. Where do you get your facts?
plougasnous 10 months ago
@plougasnous : Well hitler atleast said he believed in a god. Religion was big part of what nazis did, their uniforms even had belt buckles that said "god with us."
Surely hitler killed lots of people who believed in a god, but that says nothing about his own belief. Belief in god never stopped anybody from doing what they please. Religions can be used to justify absolutely anything.
Write "Adolf Hitler's religious views" to wikipedia, theres plenty of material.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234
Large sections of British upper classes liked Hitler as well as French "callabos."
plougasnous 10 months ago
@plougasnous : So you want to believe hitler did not believe. Why?
Does it undermine your religion that somebody else was crazy? Inquisition was also crazy, did they also lie about doing gods work?
My opinion is that religious opinions are worthless and ridiculous. Voicing any religious opinions on campaigns should be an automatical political suicide. Superstition has no place in politics, schools, work places, or families. Religions belong to individual heads, and there it should stay.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234
Mass murder was the order of the day.
plougasnous 10 months ago
@plougasnous : Fantasy is vital. Imagination is one of our strongest assets. It has been essential for our survival as species, and continues to be so.
Atheists imagine things also. I for example love to read fiction and read comics and watch movies. Making up stories and theories is fun and natural. I just know that stuff that I make up, is stuff that I make up. Its not real. And that is my point. We should never teach children that stories we made up are real. Because they are not.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 The idea of a supreme being is totally irrelevant; It would be better for you to stop arguing against religion (also very irrelevant to thinking people) and look at the evidence of our origins. Please read the two following books by Zacharia Sitchin: "When Time Began" and "Genesis Revisited." This author goes through the records (over 30,000 clay tablets) of ancient Sumeria of about 4000 BC. This explodes ALL theories of the garden of Eden or the preposterous theory of evolution.
plougasnous 10 months ago
@plougasnous : "preposterous theory of evolution." That is pretty much the dumbest things you can say. So you have fallen for the creationist propaganda. How in the hell did that happen? You have no schools where you live?
Arguing against religion is vital. Superstition causes untold harm on this world, we have to fight it.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 Years ago I read a book titled "The Neck of the Giraffe," by Francis Hitching. This book exploded Darwin's theory without any reference to the bible or "god's word." If you want to be one of the evolution herd, just stay blind to other ideas. There are more than the existing two simpleton theories out there about our origins. I strongly suggest that you read: "When Time Began" and "Genesis Revisited." If the sum total of you knowlege comes from YouTube, you are lost.
plougasnous 10 months ago
@plougasnous : Dude, to waste time with creationist propaganda is a crime against humanity. Its dumbest use of ones only life imaginable.
Im sure those books you reccommend would be good for laughs, so perhaps is leaf through them if I happen to find them.
About religious people and creationists there is only one thing each people need to know:
-Religions are based on lies.
-Creationists lie.
After that we can just ignore them and get on with our lives.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234
Your Trotskyite buddy, Hitchens, correctly sneers at one (creationism), but slavishly mouths the conventional wisdom of the world of science.
plougasnous 10 months ago
@plougasnous : So you are not an christian. Yet you reject evolution so you do have some superstition holding you in the dark ages. I wonder what you are. Somekind of new version of christianity? Keep the jesus but skip the talking snake?
Did you keep the biblical flood and one family incesting like crazy to produce all humans?
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 Well! stay with the herd; it feels good with to be in one rut. I have looked carefully outside the two herds brain dead mouthers of conventional wisdom. Suggesting to look OUTSIDE of these two worn out and useless theories is too hard for you. Now you sound like a christian who dares not think anything but what he has been told. As for you, the flawed world of science is not to be questioned. And then you twist yourself into knots trying to prove that I am some kind of believer.
plougasnous 10 months ago
@plougasnous : About the books you listed:
The Neck of the Giraffe: "Francis Hitching believes evolution is directed by some sort of cosmic force. Hitchins plagiarises material from Young Earth-creationist books."
He is a thief and a liar, like a proper creationist.
Again remember rule one: Creationists lie. Thats all you need.
bary1234 10 months ago
@plougasnous :When Time Begun and Genesis Revisisited: "Zecharia Sitchin promoting an explanation for human origins involving ancient astronauts.Sitchin's theories are not accepted by scientists and academics who dismiss his work as pseudohistory and pseudoscience. Sitchin's work has been criticized for flawed methodology and mistranslations of ancient texts as well as for incorrect astronomical and scientific claims. "
bary1234 10 months ago
@plougasnous: Zecharia made up a fairytale about aliens genetically engineering humans. He lied and falcified evidence to support his fictional stories. And you think this is better "theory" than evolution? That this is not nonsense like creationism?
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 Ah! Again another shallow internet junkie takes his opinions from snippets of "analysis" from other shallow internet junkies who will not put the time in to do some real reading. Are you that pathetic? You are no better than the foolish creationists who will not look at or read anything other than approved religious tracts. You are as broad minded as the creationists that you despise. So called "scientists" only mouth what is approved. They are as much a priesthood as any faith.
plougasnous 10 months ago
@plougasnous : Oh, did I hurt your precious pride? You believe frauds and liars. These writers you adore are superstitious morons, and invoke creation even if you wish it would not appear so.
Broad mind to you means believing any shit anybody comes up with. You believe in bullshit with zero evidence.
Scientists dont lie, and creationists just lie. Scientists look at the world as it is, and if they make a guess they say its just a guess. Creationists lie that they know stuff nobody knows.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 Make sure that you only "read" what is scientifically approved. You sound just like the a creationist who only reads fantasies approved by the lord. Only in your case, you depend on the lords of science to get the "truth." One day you may see what feet of clay these "scientists" have. We have already seen what a bunch of frauds the preachers of the "holy word" have turned out to be and have always been. You are falling hook, line, and sinker for a special sort of snake oil.
plougasnous 10 months ago
@plougasnous : I read plenty of fiction. I like fiction. I just understand what is real and what is imaginary.
Thats why I am an Atheist. Because believing with zero evidence is stupid. Having blind faith is stupid.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 So the more than 30,000 Sumerian clay tablets where he derived his information are not worth looking at? I love how you just cut and pasted straight from Wikipedia: really good analysis on your part! Better hurry back to your YouTube videos and get some more unoriginal ideas that you can just spew forth with cuts and pastes. You are a real intellectual! My guess is that you are around 12 to14 years old.
plougasnous 10 months ago
@plougasnous : Oh, those clay tablets are propably very interesting. To somebody who can read them they can actually give some real information.
To Zecharia, who just lied and made up bullshit, they were just a tool to be exploited to support his nonsense-books. He just made money out of curiosity of superstitious idiots. How much money have you already spent on his ridiculous books? He's family is laughing all the way to bank because his fraud-books are still selling after his death.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 "Forbidden Archaeology" and "The Hidden History of the Human Race", and SCIENTIFIC CENSORSHIP. Just deviate from the accepted theory and see what happens to your job as a research scientist. Look these two books up.
plougasnous 10 months ago
@plougasnous : Yes its annoying that people dont believe the shit you just made up. Nobody believes the fantastic crap that just pops out of your brains. They demand evidence, all sorts of logic and reason before they believe. Just making shit up is not appreciated at all. That is so hard and unfair. Why is science backed up by evidence concidered "real" and shit you just make up is concidered "not real." You can make up much more exiting shit than reality. Still nobody believes. Damn it sucs.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 Scientific "open mindedness." An oxymoron
The Western scientific establishment and mass media pride themselves on being open public forums devoid of prejudice or censorship. However, no television program examining the flaws and weaknesses of Darwinism has ever been aired in Darwin's home country or in America. A scientist who opposes the theory cannot get a paper published.
"Facts of Life: Shattering the Myths of Darwinism" by Richard Milton
plougasnous 10 months ago
@plougasnous - what rubbish. If the paper was based on scientific principles of course it would be published. Even if someone said that Santa does exist at the North Pole - and could credibly make a case for it. The reason it can't (and this is true for God) is that there is no evidence. At least not real evidence - rather than whymsical poppycock. The reference you quoted is one such fancy as it not only has to disprove darwin, but virtually every field of science that says tha same thing.
19995700 10 months ago
@plougasnous : Just remember: Creationists lie. They lie. They make up shit.
Dont believe them, they lie.
They dont tell the truth, they make up shit and say its true. But its not true, its a lie.
Creationists are stupid and they lie. They have had way too much air-time on medias already, they should never be accepted to talk even to cows on a field.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 Since you never read anything but Wikipedia, how can you judge for yourself? Because Wikipedia told you Sitchin was this or that or a reviewer said it. Read for yourself. It takes time. Christopher Hitchens did not get his knowledge from Wikipedia. He read many, many books. If you want to be a shallow internet pundit, just keep being an internet junkie. You will sound smart, but you will know nothing. Your puffed up head will be deflated over and over by thinking people.
plougasnous 10 months ago
@plougasnous : I could recommend you lots of proper science-books. Creationist books are easy, since there is just that one rule about them. They are lies.
Next time you open one of those Sitchin books, just remember that it is lies from cover to cover. It helps you to digest the material much better. And you can avoid embarrassing yourself in public in the future. Since you are less likely to mention that you have ever even read such ridiculous garbage when you realise what a load of crap it is
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 I'm glad that you read it yourself and gave your fine, thoughtful judgment. Or is it Wikipedia and the lords of science that are stopping you because they said so... Just follow the proper thoughts like a good little sheep. At least I've looked at other things than the THEORY of evolution. I wrote creationism off over 30 years ago and until someone can show me otherwise, I will pursue any credible idea. I don't need Wikipedia, the Trotskyite Hitchens, or scientific approval...
plougasnous 10 months ago
@plougasnous : Dude, creationists lie. Get it to your head.
You dont need scientific approval because you make shit up, and believe others who make shit up. You fucking pay your hard earned money to buy nonsense and bullshit depicted as facts. Thats just sad and stupid.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 At least I read something other than Wikipedia. It sounds like you have never read any book in your life. If you think that science is so pure look at what happened to Alfred Wegner when he proposed the theory of Plate Tectonics at the first symposium of Geologists in 1912. They threw him out of the symposium and told him that he was crazy. So much for broad-minded scientists. And so it goes with the stupid idea of global warming and so many other things in science.
plougasnous 10 months ago
@plougasnous "They threw him out of the symposium and told him that he was crazy. So much for broad-minded scientists."
So how is it that we understand plate tectonics now? I think you'll find that it is through scientific research. How does your computer work? Through the 'closed-mindedness' of science. It disgusts me when people denigrate science while enjoying it's achievements. If science is so flawed, stop taking medicine, using your phone, your car and your computer. No? Thought so.
ChuddmasterZero 10 months ago
@plougasnous : Dude, I have read so much more books than you ever will. And most of them were fiction :)
Glad you brought up Wegener, he is a good example of how science works. He had a hypothesis about the continental drift, but he could not give compelling evidence. So, with the data they currently had, most scientists rejected the hypothesis at that time. When the evidence eventually was gathered, whole world of science followed the evidence and accepted the continental drift as a Theory.
bary1234 10 months ago
@plougasnous : So you see, just making shit up is not enough. Everybody can just make shit up. Your creationist writers for example are just making shit up. If you have zero evidence for the shit you make up, you deserve rejection. And you will be rejected, by everybody who has any critical thinking and scientific integrity. The more preposterous shit you make up, the better evidence we demand for it to believe it.
bary1234 10 months ago
@plougasnous : See thats the difference between a Hypothesis and a Theory. Hypothesis is just shit you make up. Its basically a quess. And when you give your quess to a scientific community, they try to shred it up, brake it to its components and destroy it if they can. If they can, its ruled as nonsense. If they cant, they keep on trying and testing it for years and years. If it still survives, if it lasts all the tests and stays intact and true, it can be finally accepted as a Theory.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 Another scholar ( a friend of Einstein's) was given the Wegner treatment in the late 1940s. Read about it "The Velikovsky Affair." Another example of open minded scientists. About Wegner: by the1960s the scientific priesthood claimed that they knew all about plate tectonics all along. This is the problem with science: it has its own priesthood and you better not deviate from the accepted line. Science is not open, free inquiry. It is a very narrow minded, closed world.
plougasnous 10 months ago
@plougasnous: Yes, this is what happens to all scientists and to all hypothesis ever produced. This is what critical thinking and scientific method is. This is why Theory is such a powerfull title. If you search any scientists, bringing forth any theory, you see they get the same treatment. Its basically like a flock of vultures or a running lawnmower where you throw your idea. They shread it, they arque about it, they try their hardest to show why it is bullshit.
bary1234 10 months ago
@plougasnous : Thats why it works. And If your theory never gets any evidence behind it, it will just stay in that lawnmower, being chewed away forever. It is never forgotten, but it waits for somebody to figure out more evidence against it or for it.
Just making shit up is not enough. And you obviously dont appreaciate how much shit people make up daily. People come up with so much stupid ideas and nonsense-explanations all the time its just overwhelming.
bary1234 10 months ago
@plougasnous : Creationism is one of those stupid ideas that has been ripped to shreds, chewed up and spit out by the scientific method. Showing that is has nothing supporting it, no reason to believe in it. Thats why these new morons who come up with it just get the verdict straight away. Because they dont bring anything new to the table, there already is an aswer for them.
That Velikovsky-fellow is just another con-artist making money from idiots. Scientists now he is full of shit.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 You can't escape name calling in your blogs. Great minds talk about ideas; mediocre minds talk about events; shallow minds talk about people. Where do you fit in that lineup? Your pathetic name calling doesn't bring forth any solid arguments. I am a non-believer, but I respect other peoples' opinions, even those of deluded believers. You certainly cannot hold a candle to Hitchens, who backs up his ideas and aruments without resorting name calling and belittlement.
plougasnous 10 months ago
@plougasnous : Superstition is a problem to people. So if we are to talk about supertitions, we have to talk about people.
So you "respect" beliefs? Care to test that? Lets start with something pretty obvious. Raping a baby-girl cures aids. This is widely believed in africa, and this "cure" is used, a lot. Sex with a virgin cures aids, so younger you rape the better your chances. Is this a respectable superstition in your view?
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 Your quote " Raping a baby-girl cures aids," is a false analogy. These are not views; this is sick behavior that only twisted sick minds tolerate and justify. This is what happens when these various countries became de-colonized, whether they were in Africa or the middle east.. It has been downhill all the way since then. Do you see Hitchens having a discussion with such animals. I am talking about people with shared values, not some 3rd world dump that you live in.
plougasnous 10 months ago
@plougasnous : You said you respect other peoples opinions, even ones of deluded believers. And now you are taking it back, because it was bullshit. Belief that having sex with virgins cures aids is a sincere belief. They really think it is so. And that idea comes from same magical thinking that produces gods and jesuses and talking snakes and all other forms of religion. Its just as grounded in reality and valid as any other religious point.
Thats why religions are criticized. They are bad.
bary1234 10 months ago
@plougasnous : Colonialism brought even more magical thinking to Africa and middle east. It made superstition even deeper and more powerfull. It causes these horrible superstitious rapes and murders. Its funny you call these superstitious people animals, as if they were bad by their own choosing. They are bad because they are told that magic works, that there are gods and jesuses and miracles and superpowers. That people have an afterlife, this life does not matter. All this nonsense is wrong.
bary1234 10 months ago
@plougasnous : But ordinary stupid gullible people dont know it. They, like yourself, think he has interesting ideas. And he can spin scientific words and consepts so that a stupid person might be compelled to agree that he seems to have a point. Maybe this is the best Vacuum Cleaner on the market, since this salesman says so. I dont know anything about vacuum cleaners, but just look how nicely he talks, so sincere and straight man. I buy 2 of these vacuum cleaners from you kind sir. Is cash ok?
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 I'm glad that you are far superior to those ordinary, stupid, gullible people. But if you haven't read any of Sitchen, you cannot know what he says. I like Sitchen's writing because it is a layman's prose and is not loaded with scientific terms. And his writings are a SPECULATION on our origins that is very different from creationism or so-called evolution. Read it and treat it as such. You can even put his name in YouTube and see what comes up, since no one wants to read.
plougasnous 10 months ago
@plougasnous : Ok, now you are waking up. Now you are saying that these books of yours are just stuff made up, not to be taken seriously. They are just stories.
Well, yes they are. Thats what I have been saying all along. And that is why scientific community does not take them seriously. Because they should never be taken seriously, by anybody. They are just stories.
So why again did you feel bad about the fact these storybooks did not get scientific approval?
bary1234 10 months ago
@plougasnous : And still you say "so called evolution. " As if evolution was something other than a fact.
That is the problem with pseudoscience and bullshit that is sold and produced constantly all over the word. It clouds the issue so that some people actually think there are alternate theories to evolution. That there are some "equally valuable" ideas that counter evolution. That is not true. Evolution is an idea that has been chewed up by vultures of scientific community for 100 years.
bary1234 10 months ago
@plougasnous : Evolution stands in that shredder easily. Evidence supporting it is just piling up all over the place. Every field of science supports evolution. There has never been seen anything that has shaken evolution, no matter how much we study and learn. It just keeps on getting stronger. Evolution is a fact.
Thats another thing you need to get in your head. Next to the fact that creationists lie.

All he screams is "follow me i have no idea where im going"
justasimplechristian 11 months ago
@justasimplechristian Actually the African origin hypothesis places the date between 50K to 100K years, but the multiregional hypothesis puts it at 2.5 million years (this latter one contradicted by recent evidence). Nonetheless, the numbers are estimates. Hitchens' point was how we are to believe that heaven watches for that long over this species with all the pain & suffering to claim all is well because some carpenter in a remote part of the Middle East to be sacrificed as a scapegoat.
poolerboy0077 11 months ago
@poolerboy0077 Well now you escape in the ream of religion to determine whether a hypothesis is true or not. If we are to be scientific, a hypothesis is simply based on on previous observations that cannot satisfactorily be explained with the available scientific theories. Therefore, it all based on a theory not fact. I know where you can find truth and not theory but that disturbs nonbelievers because it deals acutely with their unrighteous heart and disdain for the Word of God.
justasimplechristian 11 months ago
@poolerboy0077 The only truth there ever is was and always will be is Jesus Christ. His revelation is showed to us through the gospels, eye witness accounts, prophecies fulfilled, miracles performed, unfolding events predicted by scripture, and most importantly of all washed away sins through his own sacrifice to satisfy God's wrath for sinfullness. If that sacrifice is believed, and Christ becomes the Lord and Saviour of one's life, that my friend is not a hypothesis.
justasimplechristian 11 months ago
@justasimplechristian Um, sorry but none of the gospels are eyewitness accounts. Even the Gospel of Luke attests to this at the beginning. But even if they were eyewitnesses for the sake of argument, so what? There are 'eyewitnesses' to UFOs, lockness monsters, and Sathya Sai Baba the south indian guru who performs miracles. All you have is a book that makes assertions. So do all the other religions that you are atheistic about.
poolerboy0077 11 months ago

Going to Genesis 1:1 and you all may check this out God gives us that sequence in the exact sequence.
justasimplechristian 11 months ago
Respond to this video... Genesis 1:1. "In the beginning," that's time..."God," that's force, "created," that's action, "the heavens," that's space, "and the earth," that's matter. In the first verse of the Bible God said plainly what man didn't catalog until the nineteenth century. Everything that could be said about everything that exists is said in that first verse.”Imagine what more truth God has for us in His word if the first verse explains all the reality there is for us now.

@justasimplechristian : You really are just a simple christian. Emphasis on the word simple. As in dim, or stupid.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 I take a dim view of your definition of simple. Simple rather means: plain, basic, or uncomplicated in form , nature, or design; without much decoration or ornamentation; of or characteristic of low rank or status; humble and unpretentious. I appreciate your help in defining who I am, and I would like to respectfully decline your ambitious zeal and uncharacteristic approach to defining a word so simple, such as "simple", but duly noted and much appreciated. Thank you.
justasimplechristian 10 months ago
@justasimplechristian : But in this case, since you are stupid, and superstitious and ignorant , and delusional and lost and wrong, we should define word "simple" as stupid. As in simple-minded, perhaps?
Because other definitions might cover up the fact that you are an superstitious fool, that would not be good.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 As in perhaps too unsophisticated for you. You've made your point finally, but do remember this: And you will perish, too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God. Luke 13:3
justasimplechristian 10 months ago
@justasimplechristian : Unsophisticated is also perhaps a bit soft word. Naive or gullible would suit you better.
Bible is nonsense and garbage, thats something you should remember. Other important lesson is that creationists lie.

@bary1234 Look Bary, your attacks against me I'm ok with and I do not resent you for that. I want however to warn from such attacks against God and His holy word the Bible which you do not understand or therefore read, or apply to your life for that matter. The bible does not teach me to go on attacks and cal you stupid and curse you off the face of this earth, it's beyond me why you would think it reasonable or humanely for you to do that, you have no idea who I am, If I am a father, or a
justasimplechristian 10 months ago
@bary1234 devoted husband, or an honest hard-worker that takes care of people,or someone who likes to help others when I can and have the chance, or someone who enjoys the same life you were granted to live under the sun. That simply makes you a bit ignorant of the facts, just because you don't know the facts you see. I had a coworker that would swear the bible was just fantasies...Thats fine I thought, a week or so later she would fall down dead in her bathroom of causes i do not want to detail
justasimplechristian 10 months ago
@bary1234 I would be careful as to not to disrespect the very God that you so curse and accuse of not being real and hurl unfounded accusation at His bible, because your time just like mine is coming soon to stand before Him, mine maybe sooner than yours, yours maybe sooner than mine. Like I demonstrated, you accuse me of being stupid but do not know any measure of my intellect or what I do with my life, that's ignorance. You show the same ignorance toward God. Be careful! take care
justasimplechristian 10 months ago
@justasimplechristian : Let me get this straight, your coworker doubted god so god killed him? And you are saying that my blasphemy is getting me killed by god?
I attack your faith in nonsense. I attack your superstition. I attack your creadulous belief with zero evidence. If you want me to believe like you, dont just give me empty childish threats. Show me your god. Give me a reason to believe. Give me evidence.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 Whether one doubts God or not they will die. The question that you need to ask yourselves is why do we die? Your blasphemy is not getting you killed...where did I say that? I don't think you are arguing my points correctly. you are starting to put words in my mouth not carefully examining what I am writing. I wrote to warn you not to threaten you. If let's say you see a blind man is walking down a straight path, and before him appears a fire pit, you by the common sense that you were
justasimplechristian 10 months ago
@justasimplechristian : Sorry if I mistakenly took your talk about dying as a threat, just got that vibe from your comment.
Why do we die? We have telomere-regions of repetitive DNA at the end of a chromosome. Telomers wear out an after that our cells die. That kills us, if accidents or disease or other people dont kill us first.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 So I'm learning about that then. So the chromosome replicates itself to replace other dying cells. When the telomere becomes too shorter many replications, the chromosome reaches a critical length and can no longer replicate, so it dies off during a process called apoptosis. This process can only bring the fact that there is a molecular clock that winds down. Do you know what the chance for protein molecule to evolve by chance is. 1 in 10 to the 161st power.
justasimplechristian 10 months ago
@bary1234 Molecular Biology has determined that there is no primitive cell to begin with so therefore the whole evolutionary process from a primitive cell is biologically impossible.
justasimplechristian 10 months ago
@justasimplechristian : Molecular biology has not determined that there is no primitive cell. Thats bullshit. Actually we are pretty close to building primitive cells on a laboratory. Turning non-life to life is just another puzzle to solve.
And those 1 in 10 to the 161st power-statistics are just stupid. Even with those odds life had 1 in 10 to 3000 powers chances to start. Or propably that number is lot bigger. And that is just on this planet. And planets out there outnumber imagination.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 born with you would stop the man, and tell him what's ahead of him so that he redirects his path and not fall in this fiery pit, and maybe help him along the way until he is safe. The evidence is all around you, and in you. The question is, Do you really want to know the things of God? Those things that are only holy, pure in nature? The things that speak of Jesus Christ? Ok, your DNA is made up of information...Evolution does not produce information. From the beginning your DNA had
justasimplechristian 10 months ago
@justasimplechristian : But in this case the fiery pit is inside your imagination. Its a fairytale, told to you by your parents who got it from their parents. Its a game of superstitious telephone straight from the stone-age.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 My parents didn't teach me anything about that that. The Bible teaches that.
justasimplechristian 10 months ago
@justasimplechristian : Bible is part of that game of telephone. So who gave you the bible? It was not on the shelf at your home, so where did this nonsense land on your lap?
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 to have had the information stored by a creator. Your eyes, are a creation of God. You were not there present before God decided what you were gonna look like and what form your body was going to have. You were not there when the world began so therefore you cannot assume that you know God didn't create the world. God left us in writing the account of His creation and the matches up perfectly with what we see with our eyes, smell with our noses, hear with our ears. Morality, is a
justasimplechristian 10 months ago
@justasimplechristian : Oh yes, evolution produces information. Our DNA contains lots of information.
Bible the most idiotic book ever written, it can not be written by anybody but ignorant superstitious tribesmen.
bary1234 10 months ago
@bary1234 please explain how evolution produces information. RIght I said that our DNA contains information and that is one simple reason that evolution cannot be true because evolution cannot create information because evolution needs millions of natural selecting process because the information needed for an active DNA was not present. But in order that you have an active DNA you need all its components active at once instantly, so how can evolution produce something gradually when...
