  • Lovely! :)

  • The "Playboys" album has been reissued on CD as "Picture of Heath". It includes this tune and another Pepper composition "Tynan Time". Though very similar, I like that CD's version of this tune better. Regardless, this is some fantastic, timeless Jazz!

  • Note that this CD is available in the US under the title "The Route" -- no need to pay a lot for the Japanese import. A few months after this session Chet and Art recorded together again with a slightly different line-up [Phil Urso (tenor), Carl Perkins (piano), Curtis Counce (bass), Larance Marable (drums)]. That session was issued at the time under the title "Playboys". It is the cover art from that album that was used for this 'meets' CD (what a beautiful woman!)

  • Art had a beautiful tone.

  • Best Cd of west coast jazz..

  • @60otaku3 -- Please check your mail box ;)

  • Thank you KaRidder234-san!

I checked it and noticed my own misunderstanding...

  • On topic now: The cover is very beautiful, and it's a pity that the censors have cared for a withdrawal, and a reissue of this LP with kinda "neutral" new cover. -- This is one of the most swingin' sessions with Art & Chet.

  • What excellent jazz!! What a beautiful woman! They don't many of those anymore. Too much plastic, too skinny.

  • Ahh...rainy evening and smooth jazz...life is good. But only because these guys suffered so to produce such beauty, it don't come easy.

  • Beautiful soloing, so inventive. I recall seeing Art live and will never forget the night.

This is one of the coolest ever..the changes remind me abit of 'Night In Tunisia' in places like the mid 8. Thank you so very much for this clip.

  • You're very welcome, taildragger53-san!!

  • well i am 72 now but if i walked in to a jazz club and heard these guys i would be 22 again .great music. great job your doin greetings from the UK.

  • @exjazzbassbaz I agree, I'm 71 and the same applies, but I now live in France

  • Now this is real jazz.. Why on earth does it only have 15k views

  • interestingly, art and chet were friends for a time, but Art later suspected Chet of being a police informer, who ratted out various associates and maybe even Art himself. The passages in Straight Life (arts autobiography) where he refers to "billy wilson" is a code for Baker. suffice to say they were not on good terms as time went on...

  • Thank you so much, its people like you that keep music alive for us to enjoy... so i say Bravo! , to you and thank you for all the work you done, so this shout out is for.. ( 60otaku3 ) Thanks again, bless you and peace and love, from California USA, keep the music flowin. Giorgio.
