You sound like you might be one of the loud, uninformed LA SAG people. When are we gonna get a SAG contract with our agents? If I'm not mistaken, while SAG members haven't had one for years, AFTRA has had an uninterrupted contract with them all along.
You also sound like one of the uninformed LA SAG people. Aftra's jobs have not left the country, while our former SAG jobs are now being done by Canadians, Europeeans, Australians and South Africans in droves.
For the future of the middle class performer vote NO. No fight at what cost? Professional actors will become hobbyists. If that's alright with you then go ahead and vote yes. Hope you sleep well at night.
That's because it's their responsibility to get work for their members. As soon as the world went digital, we were all predicting the unions would have to go after each other's work, and that's exactly what has happened. Any efforts to take jobs away from each other would be unnecessary of the two unions would merge just as the employers have.

AFTRA is not an asset to actors, it's an albatross--a crummy little poaching parasite.
