One problem is with the lack of writing talent: Warner Bros. keeps repeating the SAME STORY over & over & over: Super comes to earth from Krypton, Superman fights Lex Luther...The comic books used to have fantastic adventure stories of Superman dealing with all kinds of Aliens, earthbound disasters, personal troubles, etc. He teamed up with Batman, the Justice League etc. for even more story lines. C'mon writers, USE YOUR BRAINS and write a new story for us!!!
@rolex452 While I agree with you, the problem is the ratio of movie goers to comic fans isn't exactly balanced. While those cool story lines work wonders in the comic books, they wouldn't make a great movie, Too many people would not know who half the characters are and would honestly probably walk out mid way through the movie. For this reason, the movie studios kinda half to drag out the same story with updated graphics if they wanna make money.
@TravisTrixta85 I agree. The comic stories are WAY to intricate and have just too many plot points to be made into direct movies. If they're going to follow the comics with movies, they should agree to a series, like what Marvel has done with Iron Man, Thor, and Cap all tying into Avengers. I am excited for Man of Steel in 2013 though. From what I know so far, Supes is getting an actual villain this time, instead of having 2 hours of watching him lift heavy things, lol.
well of course nobody can truly replace Reeve, they still draw his face on Superman in the books today. But Superman is too important a character not to have new movies made about him like they're doing for Batman. Routh was up to it, but he needs combat training for the next movie, the new one should be a huge drag-out no holds barred slugfest, like we've always wanted from a Superman movie. And dont tell me that an action oriented Superman isnt a good idea!
@TeknomanScimitar Hell, i loved watching the Cartoons from the 90's. There was more than just Lex. There was organized crime, an invasion, high-tech new wave weapons. THey should get a REAL superman fan to write it.
Superman returns was basically the same thing as the first Star Trek Movie, real boring and no action, so, if they use the same logic, the next Superman movie will hopefully be like "The Wrath of Kahn," they try again and hit it out of the park.
Yes it was. It is completely unnecessary - it's full of scenes, dialogue and plot that was already done in 1 and 2... very little of it is actually new, and what new story there is, is so weak that you just fall asleep... the best thing about Returns is the intro, that was spectacular. But no story = no movie. Repeating what Donner did (singer's fanwank) is so superfluous it's a joke.
there well be...after Smallville on the CW ends after its 9th season or so (loosing all the original cast already)..than they have planes to make a show called the Grayson's...perhaps it will explain more about the other superhero identity Robin took has has Nightwing?
yeah, it is a real piece of crap. it's just copying the first two movies, not doing anything for itself to differentiate it, make it new and interesting.. Nothing, it's just... bleh.
Excellent vid... Perfect sync of a number of scenes with the 90's toon intro.. Though I must agree, a scene, or 2, of Ms. Lane would have made this truly complete.
The Theme was composed by the late and great Shirley Walker (April 10, 1945 - November 29, 2006)Walker's connection to the popular DC Comics character extended to television where she served as composer on Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond and Superman: The Animated Series, setting a standard for the musical tone of the DC Animated Universe. Series fans and film score enthusiasts alike praise her animation work for its classical reliance on theme (music).
I didn't say it was from Superman Returns. I just said I didn't like it and that I have to watch this movie sometime which IS Superman Returns. JEEZ Jeff!!
Could've been better, but good idea none the less!

@SimsMoyal Have you seen the new guy chosen for Superman in 2013's Man of Steel? Henry Cavill. He plays Theseus in Immortals.

Superman Returns needed to be a reboot for the franchise, and overall needed to be more like the comic books.

I hate Brandon Routh. Terrible, terrible fucking movie...
I've also had enough Superman tv-shows --- how about a Batman live-action show - post watershed? That could be fucking awesome, if done right.

That idea was scrapped a few weeks after they got the idea.
It wouldn't have worked anyway.

Shirley Walker does not receive enough appreciation. That theme from Two-Face creeped the hell outta me when I was small!
