These really made my day. I grew up with my image of the Beach boys being the modern zombie with Mike Love sashaying around like a vegas whore, and didn't realize until recently at one time they were such a vibrant creative entity because of Brian Wilson. it's great to see him backed up by a band that respects him, and knows his limitations and can pick him up when he falters, but that is there to support him, instead of Mike love's ego touring with a fake Beach boy band to support his image.
they should have given Brian some helf in the gfamous falsetto part. Unrealistic to expect that bit of aural beauty to still be in tact forty some years after it was in flower. Since that falsetto distinguished so much of the BB songs, they should have scoured the place for a younger guy with that kind of range to assist.
There is a Wilson in the band and his name is Brian. Dennis Wilson said it best years ago: Brian Wilson is the Beach Boys -- the rest of us were just there to back him up.
@camsurf16 They aren't the Beach Boys, they're the Wondermints, and the only other band I could dream of seeing back up Wilson so well might be The Flaming Lips.
Thank you Holland Smile ... I"ve just listened to all six ... you are a saint ... and have given me one of my better afternoons in some time. What a fabulous show. Lucky Brit bastards!
If this music lives 40 years after the debut of the Beach Boys, it will no doubt live forever. I believe it will, and that Brian will go down in history as the musical genius he is. Take a look at the ages of some in that crowd of 100,000+. They weren't even born when this music first popped onto the scene.
This concert takes place approximately 40 years after these songs debuted with the Beach Boys. Check out the ages of the people in the audience. Remember you heard it here first: this music will last forever and Brian Wilson will be remembered as the musical genius he is. Dennis Wilson said it best: Brian Wilson is the Beach Boys, the rest of us are just the messengers. Long life the King of Surf ... the King of Fun, Fun, Fun.
@No1emilybrowningfan The best touring band right now I suppose. The Wrecking crew, you know the Spector crew which he worked with were actually better players.
MY favourite !!!! FUN FUN FUN !!!
