I don't see how the Jews can claim Israel as their homeland after an absence of what, 1400-1500 years or more of living in Europe or ( more recently ) ,America or wherever they were dwelling prior to 1947-48 . That's a very good question.At one time the answer was very simple. If you conquered it, you owned it. However, after WWI the League of Nations was created to deal with such questions, and they ruled that the "Jewish National Home" is "in Palestine." That's from the League of Nations Mandate, San Remo text, 1922. You can look it up by Googling "San Remo text, 1922" and read their reasoning for yourself.

Germany has a similar law for people of German descent. But I don't the details. You have to inquire at their consulates. However, after WWI the League of Nations was created to deal with such questions, and they ruled that the "Jewish National Home" is "in Palestine." As for Irans involvement in Iraq today, there is no doubt that Iranians have aided in the slow progress of the US, however it can be argued that it is not state sanctioned by Iran and at the same time it isn't discouraged.
