Til this day I cant find pictures or proof of the old Voltron toy which was equally big if not bigger and had a place inside each lion to store a (not small but)decent size action figure. I believe I found a picture of one of these toys online but the toy is all broken and the face of Voltron is not even shown. I have little to know proof or info of this Voltron toy other than my memories and that picture. I used to live overseas so that might be why the toy is virtually unknown here.
ugh, can't believe people nowadays can't figure out such simple transforming...you are doing it wrong with black lion. you don't fold the paw inwards like that, of course the plastic cover wont shut all the way...you need to leave the paw somewhat straight, and at the right angle, will be able to fit it and you push the whole arm into the space and can close the cover completely, never EVER fold up the paw like you did....sheesh.
@mathiasmorqubus I didn't want to pay the high prices for the die cast version when that one can't even really stand. The weight of the figure makes him fall over in every review of the figure i watched when making my decision

@devin1115ify concidering that Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was largely ripped off from the Voltron franchize (To the point infact that in the origianal model of voltron toys from the 80's (The worlds of Wonder ones not the masterpiece) you can actually in some cases put the sabertooth tiger zord in the place of the Yello lion.) It's more appropriate to say that the Megazord is like voltron

the front paws i think are suppose to wrap around the outside of the inside part of the arm joint connect thing....if that made anysince o-o, and it looks too floppy
Dont know if you figured out how to hide the legs of the black lion out yet, but you were doing it wrong. You cant bend the foot al the way forward like you did. there are other videos that show how to do it accuratly
Way to screw up the voltron. everything bass acwards. Every lion is on the wrong side. Does it not come with instructions or did you not really watch the cartoon. Still nice toy though.
It is interesting to see the differences between this version and the original ones I still have:
The yellow Lion: His legs would collapse in when you bent his head
The Red Lion: You could shoot the head off
The Black Lion: The number '1' was in a yellow sqaure
The Blue Liojn: The head's crown as you put it would lift up, this was because in a few episodes the Princess would push a button and the crown would lift and spit water at enemies.
did you try flipping the hands of the Black Lion the other way? It might work, I don't know for sure because I (unfortunately) don't have one of these epic figures

I think you put all the limbs wrongly. The Red and blue should be on the right side and the green and yellow lions on the left. What do you think? Just my observation. Peace bro! :)
is your review in a mirror view? cos i think you place the arms and legs in the wrong position. the red lion should be on the right and green on the left. Same as the blue and the yellow lion.
for the black lions legs if you don't fold the foot all the way back it can sit behind the hold used to attach the arms. The leg should be in an "L" position not folded flat. That's how it's worked on almost every Voltron toy I've ever owned. kind of like this !o_ the foot should be behind the hole. With it like that closeing the flap shouldn't be any trouble.

I find it a bit upsetting that during that whole in depth history you gave of Voltron, you didn't mention once that "Voltron" is an Americanization of a cartoon called "Hyaku ju oh Goraion" originally released in 1981. World events productions destroyed it, excised many scenes too violent for children and spliced footage from another cartoon to create the "Alliance" segments. It was reformatted into a cookie cutter good vs evil moralistic production to be more digestible by western kids. Shame.

True, fans of GoLion and Dairugger might not recognize the mishmash of their shows that became Voltron, but it more or less stayed true to form: a five man band of heroes piloting mecha lions that combined to form a super robot and defeat the evil empire on a weekly basis.
In fact, just like Samurai Pizza Cats, Voltron is considered by some, myself included, to be the superior product.
I'm talking about how a tv show is appropriated from something quite different and chopped up and hammed up to be all safe and morally agreeable to what people are used to in the west. I understand it wouldn't have been suitable for kids but the mindset that "cartoons are for kids only" could've been challenged by this show by translating it properly. Have you tried reversing the wrists on the black lion's forearms when folding them in? It seems like the claws would face out toward the cover piece so you can pull the forearm out easier.
no way man..the die cast version is ten times better. more durable..doesnt feel cheap..better working parts..etc . :P All toys are cheap Crap now. They dont make them like they use to.

I like this figure mor than the die cast version. The seems to have better paint the die cast has limited articulation but i my opinion this figure looks a whole lot better thanks for reviewing him :)

Some of the Voltron toys had led in the plastic and got recalled. I think there was a company making Voltron with out any rights.

no way man..the die cast version is ten times better. more durable..doesnt feel cheap..better working parts..etc . :P All toys are cheap Crap now. They dont make them like they use to.

omg get over it....it doesn't matter which position they're in..they all go in the same way. Besides...in several episodes the positions switched...probably a coloring and animation error...just think of my positioning as a homage to that...jesus...get over it

haha relax, you fucked up , big deal, i just think after giving us that whole voltron break down which frankly was unnecessary since, lets face it, if you are watching this, you are already a fan and know the story line, that you screw up the transformation.
ITS FUNNY. btw, plenty of images on transformer boxes are incorrectly transformed all the time. but then again, those photographers arent fans :-p
anyways,. ya screwed up, I pointed and laughed, and now Im moving on.

Frankly...i have a shit ton of subscribers that NEVER HEARD of voltron...a review shouldn't be for people that already know what they're looking at...it's for people that might want to get it. That's why it's necessary...do you look up reviews for televisions you already own? That would be unnecessary....don't watch my shit if you find stuff unnecessary.

yea you did say you probably got the positions wrong....so it's no big deal dude. I can't believe these people. Good show of the toy though...I once made a Voltron out of cigarette boxes cuz my parents couldn't afford to get me the toy LOL.

I like this figure mor than the die cast version. The seems to have better paint the die cast has limited articulation but i my opinion this figure looks a whole lot better thanks for reviewing him :)
