@gungfu777 For humans it is important not to swat or crush the rove beetle. Especially female Paederus Riparius have Pederin toxin in their body fluid that will cause blistering and rash on skin. The toxin is more potent than cobra venom but due to minute quantity not life threatening. But the blistering skin rash can be very unsettling for a few days.
Wow.. The first time I ever caught a Brown and Gold Rove Beetle, I had no clue what I caught.. It was so odd looking, like the cross of an earwig, ant, and.. Wasp or something - I had to find out. I tried keeping it alive in the process, but for some reason it died. I did not know, however, that there are YouTubers who actually record such interesting behavior of such small, underrated insect.
