Well all the elves of northern Mirkwood are expert fighters. They jacked up the orcs pretty bad in the battle of hte Five Armies. And Legolas isn't the king of the wood elves, at least not in LOTR - he's more like the crown prince. His father King Thranduil was still alive at the time. Legolas you can tell likes fighting better than ruling. And eventually many years later Legolas and Gimli just get tired of Middle Earth and leave it to sail west.

When he couldn't reach Aragorn to help him with the armored troll in the end battle you got some suspense out of it since it looked like Aragorns had it (even though we knew better) but when he botched that shot it gave you such a WTF moment because it didn't add up. It broke any suspense of the battle because it immediately looked like a planned event of a movie. Or perhaps with earlier scenes they made Lego look to infallible, and then back to things like this? fail

I sure am being a fanboy over that one scene but oh well :D They at least could have done a passing of the torch, hold up shields he can run under, multiple torch bearers etc etc kind of thing you know? It just didn't work.
