Thank you Michael D. 4 posting this. I didn't see the original interview. I admired John Denver 4 being serious enough 2 care about the whole environment, people & all. Today some people make derisive remarks about people who care enough 2 recognize it's the only planet we have. There"s no place 2 go; other planets are for day-dreaming 4 anyone alive today He put money where his words were. I love his words & singing. Was fortunate 2 have seen a live concert & 2 have his recorded music.
sums up the celebrity culture we all live in,if oprah and the president of america were shot at the same time,we would know about oprah first, everybody now buys a magazine, not because of the contenet or journalistic skill but who is dating who or whos movie is out nex, oprah said when she was growing up she would get fun made out of her because she listened to john denver,,sad she never mentioned his death on her show.legend
@Dreama40 I was shattered by his death too. And my grandmother died that year. And Princess Di. And Mother Theresa. So many beautiful souls taken that year....
lol thanks for posting this. I always loved listening to the one CD of John that I had of a kid (but I acidentally sat on it and broke it when it was in my bed and I cried!) I wish I had been born before 1992 so I could have seen him in concert some time. I love all his music and his ideals relative to the Earth
It must have been 1984, because John mentioned in the 3rd Part of the interview ("continued interview") , that his father died "two years ago "- and that was in 1982.
This interview with John is wonderful. Thank you for posting, michael! I miss John indescribable!
I've heard that John was on Oprah years ago where Oprah admitted that John was one of her favorite singers. I also read many posts from fans who were disappointed when Oprah did not even acknowledge John's passing/anniversary of his passing on her show despite requests from many to do so. Whatever her reasons were we'll never know. I am grateful to see this show posted since it's new to me and as always thank you Michael !
@jdstillshines There's been many people who have been on her show who she has not acknowledged when they've passed. I understand her being a fan of his work but he was not a close personal friend of hers so that could be the reason for the omission.
Back in 1997 i was reading John Denvers biography and was really into him and his music more than ever at the time, one afternoon i was driving home from work when i heard the news of his death, i was shattered, he had just found himself in life and then gone!! My own father passed a few months later........
Thanks for your comment. The four clips I have posted from this undated show are all that I have of Oprah. I have several similar clips of JD on other shows. Cutting, editing and preparing them for uploading is complex and time-consuming. I hope to post more of these sometime.
Love you John!
