I´m descendant of Hutsuls, and they identified as Ukrainians. Nobody can change the fact that Hutsuls identify as Ukrainians. Hutsul culture and folklore form a cultural continuun with the rest of the Carpathian regions of suothwestern Ukraine (Boikivschchyna, Transcarpathia, Pokutia and Bukovyna) and Podillia.

Hungarians have never formed majority in this region! It's not a part of their ethnic territory. This wasn't a liberation. Occupation. Hungarian army annexed Transcarpathia like Russia annexed Abkhazia and South Osetia in 2008.

Is´t not important where did it belong. Of course we know that it belonged to the Kingdom of the Holy Crown (Uhorsko)..What is more important is that Rusyns are opressed by Ukrainians. They deserve their own state, because without it they haven´t any future..Just visit Uzhorod, Mukacevo, Ivano-Frankivsk and you will see it..

Btw: The best times for Rusyns in their history were during 1st Czechoslovak republic..

Right now they are not even existing as they are called russian or ukrainian or what ever.

As far as i know they dont even wanted to be a part of Czechslovakia and later a part of The Soviet Union. They claim themselvs as one of the oldest Hungarians some are relating them with Huns. The Rusyns need to be respected and they really deserve independence or they should be able to live where they want. I got a friend from Beregszász and yes Ungvár, Munkács and Huszt are connected to our history.

Of course Ruthenia was a part of Kingdom in the past and many Ruthenians lived and still live in Slovakia. But they aren´t Huns and they don´t claim to be Huns or either Hungarians..They are often take as white Croatians (Lemko), but there are also other ethnic groups related to Slovaks and Poles (Huculs and Bojkos)..After the fall of Monarchy opinion that they should be part of Czechoslovakia prevailed in their community, under obligation that they would be given authonomy..

Hutsuls are not ukrainians. Hutsuls are hutsuls. They were Dacians who got romanised first (Romanians, moldavians) then slavicised. Hutsuls are hutsuls and that's it. Just look at their folklore. Is 100 % moldavian.
