@PrincessAbby56 so am i. well yes and no. my mom isnt but i dont follow that law. i think if there is any jewish in your family you are considered jewish. So yeah if share the same flesh and blood as your mom and dad and your dad is jewish you should be considered half jewish. I dont want to convert so i do a private study.
@DAN5675able in that case i know that-by the jewish world your not-c'z it goes by the mom, and by catholic- i think it goes by the dad....but if you were to say that you were jewish in the jewish world-they would say that your just the same if you came from 2 non-jewish parents....
@sternburger4ever i'm liat and i've been doing a lot in sternberg so you wouldn't know me unless i tell you....email me at liattail1@gmail.....man! this is so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!lol!
Hi, this is Mei-Ling's mom. I wanted to say that we appreciate thinker900's comments - they are absolutely correct. Some adoptive families do not educate their children about the child's birth culture. We have made a conscious effort to do this (as Macadonious stated above) since we adopted her, and it has enriched all of our lives immensely.
@thinker900 - Absolutely! We have her involved in a program for Asian children to help her stay connected with her birth culture. We celebrate Chinese New Year, the Moon Festival and other Asian events with them, and she even has her own personal mentor. We have enjoyed learning about her birth culture as much as she has and look forward to learning more and more over the years. We hope to take another trip back to Chongqing in a few years as well.
@macadonious It's nice that you adopted her. Every child needs a loving family regardless of physical ethnicity. Do me a favor though...don't forget to teach her about her ethnic back ground. When she is ready of course.
@brabon1 Yes, I noticed that too. On the other hand, people have name their adopted child in accordance to the region they originated and still manage not to teach them anything about that childs origins. It is quiet common that a child will learn later that they don't look like their adopted parent. This after thinking that they were of the same physical ethnicity. Of course, this is just advice though.
