  • it still does relate to modiglianis life...its not entirely off track.

  • The title is 100% correct. 'Scenes From Modigliani' is the worst "movie" ever made.

  • What is a thing beauty? What makes art beautiful? It’s the ability to bring order to our thoughts. It's like technology ones it has touched our life we cannot uninvent it! It has altered state/perception that evolves our thoughts, changes our lives. I value the movie Modigliani among the best romantic tragedies that has ever touched my life. It is a tribute to the innamorati in the same sense as Carlo Goldini’s “Venetian twin”, “Lovers destine to be, kept separate by the cruelty of the gods”

  • Unbelieveble how somebody could not like this movie. It doesn't show cliches, but it shows the real life. The real life of a poor artist with a outstanding personality. Great music, great acting and great decors.

To bad so few people saw the movie.

  • I beg to differ with the negative comments, this movie had a strange pulling quality for me, and it made me cry in the ending, the actors and actresses did a great job in portraying the characters, it was believable, it's not a popular film, but I do say, it's a great one, it takes alot to make me cry, the meaning of it, the love that modi's wife had for him was rare, and morbidly beautiful

  • Movie is exceptionally prodcued. If you don't appreciate the these scenes, then maybe you should stick to the dribble Hollywood creates

    .

  • Great movie...Tragic love!

  • If you have a working heart, you can't dislike this. Having one that is good only for crtiticize is a bad thing. It's not so strange that not everybody can understand art.

Then.. great movie, really. It made me start painting :)

  • i loved this movie. and this 'parade' scene makes perfect sense. see start of movie. either way, it states it is a fictionalized prod., right in the start. eyes of the beholder...

  • Well, given that he was both an alcoholic and drug abuser, the scenes don't seem that far out. He looked pretty drunk and drugged out to me lol!

  • this movie was the best italian movie i've ever seen. amazing.

  • Put this film on a double bill with "Klimt" and you'll have good reason to be pemanently repulsed the entire genre of "artistic" biopics.

  • omid djalili as picasso?!?

  • well , the dogs will keep barking as we move forward. The movie is fictional of course but it is a Masterpiece......and the music is glorious

  • cheeee..a mi me gusta y son unos ciegos si no ven lo que transmite esta pelicula....

  • The movie is masterpiece. But the book is much better!!!

  • The best movie from my life, It will be the best forever for me it is a piece of life that I probably need to live but never have the guts to. OOOH love is soooo beautiful please don't hate it, I think it is worth die for ...

  • wationsfils

what keeps this film from being a masterpiece is the fact that it is more fiction than biography. yes, andy garcia gave a splendid performance and showed us his love and respect for modigliani. yes, it was a fine job of cinematography too. however, it ignored the overall sense of doom that plagued modigliani whose nickname 'modi' was a french pun on 'maudit' or doomed painter. the man was a truly gifted artist if not a genius and he deserves more than given in this film

  • yeah, I mean before this movie I never knew that artists cried as they painted and finished by dramatically breaking their brush...Not to mention, Picasso's dual life as a samurai sworn to vanquishing lesser artists. Truly Inspiring stuff.

  • What are you? A machine or just stupid!

  • the film was mindblowing dude...you must be really dumd and shallow to not having understood it

  • and 95% of the critics who reviewed it are dumb and shallow too, right?

  • the masses are always dumb and shallow...don't you know that? besides, the film is for art lovers and i think it s great that they included so many artists in it...and it has really smart jockes. try to see the film before you rely on the majority of critics telling you it s no good.

  • I DID see the film.

  • Did you automatically assume that if he saw it, he'd like it??

  • @davidrey444 YES

  • great movie , great music ! great actors

  • I was really impresed by this movie. I have no idea why you hate it and why you post this if you hate it. anyway, I loved the movie. sorry.

  • what impressed me was the falsehoods: for example picasso never in his life learned to drive, soutine and modigliani and rivera never shared space with him at bateau lavoir. modigliani died in a tb ward and not mugged and murdered in the street and there was never any contest and if so, picasso would never have stooped to be a part of it. edith piaf was a child and la vie en rose wasn't recorded until 30 years later. the list goes on and on. it's all hollywood b.s.

  • u r right in all u said, however the movie is still a masterpiece. Look at Modigliani character, its amazing Andy Garcia's performance. Look at the movie itself ! its beautiful

  • Not sure why you chose this movie to hate... I haven't seen it but the scenes you chose look pretty good in a dramatic way. Maybe the film is boring or focus on trivial problems of the elite but hey - sure looks like there are a lot of worse films to pick on...

  • you shit

  • This is an amazing film. You just need to focus your attention and try to imagine yourself in characters' shoes...

  • That's just stupid. All you have to do is look at the art...enough bullshit about artist's lives...this is garbage.

  • This is an amazing movie, it tell us about Modigliani life, it is an movie that open our mind to the real life of many artits, that sometimes has problems, and that we, out of this events never would be know, it´s great, it´s culture. I think that you don´t understand nothing abou great mivies!!!

And Andy is PERFECT in this role!! he is the best! I love Andy.

  • Love the painter;

    hate the movie.

I never liked Garcia and now I really think even less of him.

What a phony piece of crap this is.

  • where does it fucking say this is a documentary!? it just a movie it doesn't have to have the real facts personally I thought the film was good. It's not the best but certanally not the worst like you wrote so CHILL!

  • I loved this movie!

  • The people who did not like this movie? You are not artists and so you don't understand.

  • People say Kanye West is amazing and I think he's the most ridiculous pretentious f*cktard to ever step on earth. You say Modigliani sucks: I say I love it. Stop losing time with hating and saying mean things. Interact with your own preferences.

  • "A fantastic reminder that the only thing worse than a bad movie is a bad, pretentious movie."

    Phoebe Flowers, South Florida Sun-Sentinel

"Both Modi and Jeanne are genuinely tragic figures. But the movie so trivializes them as adolescents, lacking control of their own emotions, that their tragedy never takes hold."

    Kirk Honeycutt, Hollywood Reporter

"No one expected a documentary, but serious art-history students may feel let down."

    Luke Y. Thompson, New Times

  • @CliffsideFilms : Agreed. This was a horrible film. Horrible actress/acting/casting on the part of Modigliani's girlfriend. (Jeanne) What a horrible actress.

The lost message, and very important to serious students/practicing artists, is that of the "verge"..

That choice one must make as posed to Modi, coaxed by Picasso, during meet with renoir. Playing the ugly game of the art world, self promotion, and BS..as opposed to the beauty and creation of art.

    Horrible film. Horrible.

  • @CliffsideFilms--Phoebebe is a loser.

  • @CliffsideFilms --I believe the critics don't this move because they do not earn much money and can not afford even the least inexpensive tid bit of fragment of any REAL

great artist in any medium or form. Critics just go to K-Mart to but cheap prints for their tiny, cheap apartments

  • "Thanks to writer-director Mick Davis, the film, like its subject, dies young."

    Kyle Smith, New York Post

"It's hard to take this oddball movie seriously, right down to the undisguised streetwise-American accent of Andy Garcia as the Italian Jew Amedeo Modigliani."

Jami Bernard, New York Daily News

"Failing to invest famous characters with the depth to break free of a made-for-TV feel, earnest misfire does make one want to read up on the real Modigliani."

    Lisa Nesselson, Variety

  • it s about what you feel, don t post crap, use your own ideas. Apropos, one of the best music ever made to a film. Talk about this.

  • @CliffsideFilms : I will say that the casting of the other characters (excluding "Jeanne") ..was quite good, if not almost eery, with far more ability than the leading lady..

Poor script and directing. no doubt.

Yes, I am obviously very disappointed.

  • "Modigliani is slow, shamefully cliched and disjointed as a cubist portrait."

    Lisa Rose, Newark Star-Ledger

"The best and maybe the only use to be made of the catastrophic screen biography Modigliani is to serve as a textbook outline of how not to film the life of a legendary artist."

    Stephen Holden, New York Times

"It is a tidy stack of snapshots, unencumbered by a point of view."

    Scott Brown, Entertainment Weekly

  • may be you will post some videos about some movies with pretentious cast and plots, not like this, a litlle movie with no budget.

    ps,

in the begin of the film, you can read all it s about in this movie.

  • @CliffsideFilms : These are good reviews. Spot on.

Looking for nostalgia? Go elsewhere. Do not waste 2 hrs of your life...

There is a book from which this came?

Possibility of being very good is there. I suggest looking into the book. Don't go anywhere near this travesty. The only screenplay on the life of this great painter?!

    Sad,

OK, I'm finished ..off soapbox now.(smile)

  • and, What do you Know about Movies?

  • defeciente quem diz que este video é mau

  • If its the worst movie ever made, why did you post scenes from it.

Sorry that its not Superbad or Role models etc.

  • why the worst ?

  • My favorite movie!!! <3

  • i love this movie

  • I wish all the movies as as bad as this one...

  • the purpose of a language is to communicate properly,if u get the meaning the job is done and here it's not a calligraphy test

  • Grammar and spelling have nothing to do with calligraphy. Calligraphy is decorative handwriting.

  • there something located inside one's head called brain, which unortunately u do not have.

Watch the movie again it is one of the best movies, since ur forefathers have seen in ur family.

  • Why don't you learn how to spell, how to place "indefinite articles" in your sentences, and lastly, learn where to leave periods and commas.

  • hey man too long comment for such a stupid "artist", i've checked your profile man and videos you have uploaded, and your favorites as well.... you are nothing but a stupid jerk, you understand nothing in art, the limit of your understanding are some cartoons like Simpsons (i hope that u r good for that at least but to be honest i am not sure) so make people rid of your stupidity, hope u wont cry, and please say no one that u r an artist :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:

  • I don't know what you are talking about. I haven't uploaded any videos and I haven't posted any favorites and I don't watch cartoons. I am pretty sure I have more degrees in art than you do and have read more art history. My comment was not too long. It was exactly the length that youtube allows comments to be. And I still don't know what liking a bad movie has to do with being a good artist.

  • this movie looks pretty interesting

  • worst film ever made???? go fuck yourself... this movie is so great

  • i have just one comment, you suck as an artist, if you did not like Modigliani...

  • First of all you have never seen my art so to base your opinion of my art (again, which you have never seen) on my opinion of a movie is just stupid. Second, I did not say I didn't like Modigliani, I said I didn't like this movie. And it is a bad movie. So maybe you should learn how to read and how to understand what you read before you use your writing skills (or lack of thereof) for public discourse. I could elaborate further on the ignorance of your premise but there is not enough space.

  • I am an artist and this movie was really ridiculous. It was truly a horrible movie and insulting to artists. Terrible acting, terrible dialogue, and a terrible script. Even an elementary understanding of art history would get in the way of the remotest possibility of enjoying this movie.

  • i quite liked this personally.

  • me too, the best!!!

  • omg....

  • I think Modigliani is the best movie I have ever seen in years.

  • agree 100%
