  • Talented grandpa

  • hey guys, do you know what type of maton this guitar is? i like the shape and the headstock

  • you see those signatures? those are from his daughters! amanda and angelina! he even wrote a song for angelina! SO SWEET : )))) and this comes from a guy hehehehe

  • just an input, this song will be much more beautiful if it is played slow : ) love it! god i suck at guitar...

  • bagussss *ngulik ah'

  • @elpopodelacosta wahaha..dari indonesia ya gan? hehe

  • @scalpelboy1 yoi brad...endonesah heheh

  • who can dislike this? amazing!

  • i don't know, but i think this tune needs time to learn. seriously, 3 years ago when i want to learn this, this hard as hell, but now, i finally got down the harmonic part (5 years after playing)

all tommy song needs time. and practice a lot. thats why he's so mastered at acoustic. 40 years of playing this style, this man amazing :D

  • i'll have problems with learning this but i can't imagine MAKE piece like this. Master.

  • Tommy! Thanks for how much you give me in term of musicality!!"

  • @sashaisaguitarholic i'm glad if i can help :)

  • @sashaisaguitarholic

his own. he has lots of guitars. angelina is the name of his daughter born in 2005, for her he wrote the song angelina.

he only use the australian maton guitars!....

  • One of his (many) best songs<3 God knitted in special extra-terrestrial musical fiber into his being. Thank you God~ and thank you Tommy for making the absolute best use of your beautiful gift~*

  • Emmanuel, Emmanuel, God is with us, Emmanuel

And they shall call him Emmanuel, God is with us

  • 唯一無二、まさにアコギの貴公子だと思います。

  • Beautiful Tommy - masterful

  • que bueno que enseñe como tocar... pocos grandes musicos lo hacen.. creo que casi ninguno

  • muito bom

  • 4 People got angry they couldn't play.

  • Fuck all those politicians and fuck all those colour blind demons and fuck all those endless control freaks that say do this and do that, this is the way the true way...People like Tommy Emmanuel, the writers, the painters, the dreamers in general are the REAL educators not these pricks running the show...Im sorry about the language people but those people make me very angry the older I get...G...

  • really nice tommy :D

  • this manis amazing....i admire his work, and try to do like him.

  • I'm amazed at his ability to independently keep track of a beat that has nothing to do with where the beat actually is in the song.. only at 9.00 min does he tap the beat the way I feel it.. watching his knees.. Maybe he wants to built in an extra difficulty for lesser guitarists to learn the track? lol.. either way.. great tune! :-)

  • @TICETOCAR try it again, close your eyes a tab you finger along and then open your eyes, i bet it will be on time too. Listen to how its counted in at the start, its just 16th notes on an up beat. try counting 1,2,3,4 between the foot taps and you've got it.

  • This is random, but if Tommy was ever in an accident, and his hand was damaged, his ability to play the guitar the way he can, would be over in an instant.

  • *-*

  • I saw this guy who can play flight of the bumble bee at 390 BPM, yet he pales in comparison to this man..

shredding scales at 390 BPMs means nothing to one who has mastered rhythm, and the chords.

Mr. Emmanuel has inspired me to lay down the electric in favor of the acoustic!

  • tommy your beast!!!!!!!!!!

  • that's fucking beautiful

  • Love this song! Tommy is the greatest! Who is Angelina?

  • @goldensleeves One of his daughters ;)

  • @goldensleeves his daughter

  • What's this video from?

  • @CPRArtists Guitarist Magazine DVD

  • @CPRArtists Yeah, from an issue from quite a while back now with a tab for Antonella's birthday and also another video lesson by Tommy based on harmonics.

  • tommy's playing is profoundly inspirational.....a mix of genetic (or other) talent and workin your ASS off practicing....constantly amazing...what a treat to get insight into his style...I'd rather watch this than take lessons from 99% of the guitar "teachers" out there...I feel guilty for not paying for this....but thanx for posting!!!

  • Great tune!

  • if u use bad tools u will never be good!! he has the best guitars so its easier to play wen u are using the best tools!!

  • Muito melhor do que Andy Mckee.. Mais suave e agradavel.. mais natural e espontaneo. Better than Andy mckee , more soft and nicer.. natural and free.. Mckee is mecanical

  • I don't know? He could be the best out there.

  • I don't even play guitar(I wish I did) and I still find watching this absolutely mesmerizing. I don't understand any of the technical bits, all I understand is an beautiful piece of music.

  • @foxyroxytm

it´s never late to start... getting a music instrument brings joy to the heart and new perspectives.

  • Well, for one, it's an open tuning which to some extent makes it's easier to follow and perhaps easier to cover mistakes. But Tommy's style is so exquisite, ANY tuning or song is hard at first.

  • Simply beautiful...

  • thanks you rock ! I would love to accompany you on the harmonica !

  • Me hizo llorar

    Es un grande

  • this video is the salvation for us

    thank you very much

  • thank you very much sir.

  • Does he use normal strings.. It seems all so very light ?

  • @Pan3405 He uses 12 to 54 .... medium lights.

  • 0.013 gauge

he has very very good action

  • He is using an extremely low action.

Soo low, that the strings buzz extremely.

But with his picking technique he is able to control it pretty well. The playability is even better than of my Ibanez Prestige, which is an electric guitar. You would be shocked if you play his original guitar one day, cause you never saw such a low action before :)

  • lol....how can you say that i havent seen such low action....haha...nvm

  • btw. you cant hear the buzz cuz there is no buzzin' ;] and even if there were you could not hear it cuz the pickup is very good ;]

  • Right, you cant hear the buzz, because of the pickup, his technique, and the loudness of the Amp. and In a workshop someone asked Tommy about his action and Tommy plugged the guitar out of the Amp and it sounded horrible. He said, that he would never play that guitar unplugged. Any questions? Feel free to ask

  • thats what i meant, when the guitar is unplugged it would probably sound horrible;] But still Maton is guitar specially for stage performance ;] great guitar btw. but i better like unplugged guitar sound when i'm playing ;]

  • no hes aping at your mothers gaping holes

  • lol the face around 9:24...god i love this guy

  • Could you tell me the series of this wonderful Maton?

  • This man is AMAZING. He just ooozes music from his pores.

  • i saw him today at a masterclass and he played this .

he was amazing . great guy too and great entertainer , couldn't ask for more in a masterclass

  • Tommy Emmanuel lets his secrets out because it doesnt matter. us mortals will never be able to play it anyway

  • Where is this man from???

  • Australia, if you just got to learn him, welcome to the magical world of tommy emmanuel.

  • australia

  • Thank You! ٩(̾•̮̮̃̾•̃̾)۶

Welcome to check out my new concertvideo's with Tommy from April 8, 2009.

Best regards and greetings from Sweden.

  • Already have! Thanks for the upload

  • WoW!! Davvero stupenda! solitamente ascolto blues, ma questo è davvero ... wow!!

  • looking at his guitar...who could possibly sign it?

  • It's signed by Amanda and Angelina - his daughters :)

  • Why my previous comment wasn't added as a reply.....?! I don't know...

Sorry, but once again for notthepan: It's signed by Amanda and Angelina - his daughters :)

  • Easy for him to say... what about us mere mortals???? lol

  • If you appreciate his music you definitely have to see him live. Aside from being a great musician, he's very personable and has a great sense of humor. My wife and I had the luxury of meeting him and his fiance Liz after his performance. What can I say? He's a legend in our time.

  • Tommy is absolutely one of the finest musicians of our day ! He is also the most influential guitarist I have ever seen.

  • Maton TE Custom Jumbo

  • He's awesome to watch.

  • Haha, don't forget listen to =].

  • genius

  • he can actually sweep pick aswell lol amazing guitarist :)

  • He explains a bit more of this song in his new DVD Emmanuel Labor. go GET IT!! :)

  • DVD her Majesty's Theater

  • anyone know what model maton he's using here?

  • Maton TE Custom Jumbo.

  • It's actually a Maton EBG808TE. He calls it "Mouse".

  • Nope, it's not the "Mouse". It's definately his customized Maton jumbo. Upgraded woods, CGP inlay, APMic system.

  • "I'm going to play the song as slow as I can..." THAT'S as slow as he can go! Although I'm sure he can play slower I wish he would actually play SLOWER by us regular people standards.

  • does anyone know what dvd this is from?

  • good question... :s

  • Guitarist - The DVD Volume 3

    watch the Intro :D

  • and can you tell me where i can buy it???

  • Thnx Tommy. 1000's of guit players wont let the secrets out. you are a true guitar legend. You are the man. thnx agian . Ben.

  • Thank you, Australia, for giving us Tommy Emmanuel.

  • argh gay i didnt no it told ya lol sorry

  • the tuning is DGDgbe, but then after tunin u put the capo on the 2nd fret i love riffs and tunes u can get out of it

  • Tommy Emmanuel is such a brilliant guitarist. Wow...

  • It seems he's tapping his foot on the off-beats (one AND two AND three AND ...). In the "lesson" about the verse he taps his foot dead on the beat and it's a lot easier to follow...

  • No he taps his foot on the beat but begins the harmonic riff on the 4 AND.

  • Gah, I keep trying to keep the beat to the song, but his leg keep throwing me off. It kinda feels like he's about half a beat off in the beginning, but I guess that's just the song.

  • I got exactly the same problem right now! :-) the beat here is really unusual!

  • Listening to it again, I think it may be on the 4-and that he starts. Like, 1-and, 2-and, etc.

  • It's just a pickup of one 16th note. He starts on the "a" of beat 4.

  • you can keep the beat however you want really. but it'll be more difficult when there a chord and your own beat kinda messes up. something you have to practice.

  • One-and-two-and-three-and-four-and are 8th notes. The reason his foot seems out of time at points is because he swings the timing occasionally and plays chords on the 8th beat of the bar etc. His foot is in time. I'm just finding the timing of the harmonic passage at the end of the bridge tricky. I will get it in time :)

  • The bpm on this tune is 85. He is subdividing that beat by 4.... meaning he is playing 16th notes. I do trancriptions for a living and have done this one.

  • You're quite right indagdnm I read your post wrong and then listened incorrectly to the peice. It is in 16ths quite clearly. My mistake :)

  • i love this song and ive been trying to find something like this for soooo long so i can learn it. THANNNKKKK YOUUU

  • Superb, thanks for posting this.

  • WOLFCUBASH SUCKS!

  • @ImArd12 lol rob

  • @TheVideoEnthusiast

    Sup Chris :D

    i'mma phone u! haven't spoken in a while

  • I neally learned this all the way through its so hard though and my hands are raw. great to hear such an expert.

  • Tommy Emmanuel is the best guitarist ever (to my opinion), but I really don't like this song. It's definately not my favorite from Emmanuel. Anyway, it's personal...

  • i agree that he's the best player in the world. he's the best improviser in the fucking world in my opinion, all other guitarist often play a verison of the same riff over and over. hes great. but i do love this song =)

  • is that plaussible?

  • Thanks anyway.

  • I've send you a video responds as a "thank you" for posting this video. It realy helped me getting foreward on this one and watched it many -many- times. So Thank you!

    Pascal

  • Your welcome! Glad to see you benefited from it. I enjoyed your response! Keep up the good work! Dave

And I agree with you...he is amazing!

  • this guys gotta b the best acoustic player out there...!!!

  • o shit, the sound of this guitar is absoluteley faboulus!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks for posting. the video helped me a lot, but i dont understand the way he counts at the beginning

  • i have seen tommy explain that in his head he has a drum kit going whilst he plays, so i guess the way he times this must be the way his mind was going at the time *shrugs* he wrote it lol

  • Does he use the three left fingers? or only 2?

  • Fantastic!! I couldent get past the harmonics before, now I'm learning fast. Thanks!

  • That's cool...it should be very useful!

Has he done more for this magazine?

  • A magazine called guitarist

  • where did you get this from?

  • thx man!!

  • YES YES YES

  • ur brilliant!

  • I try my best

  • Breaking some nice copyright laws

  • what copyright laws?

:P, i'm sure tommy himself wouldn't mind, as its helping other guitarists improve, and he once told me, that's what he strives for, to let others learn from him.

  • What copyrights are right that forbid you to share videos, pictures or songs of artists that you bought...

But in one concert, Tommy said that he was very thankful to YouTube because it made him wellknown

  • I agree, tommy is a kind man, and shares with everyone. copyright is gay lol

  • high five

  • there you go hammy315.
