In fact, it was an economic and social system among all the countries and the people. Both allow Slavery as long as it benefits the Slave-holder's religion.

In Islam, a Slave-holder must be Muslim, then they can only have non-Muslim slaves.

The Western countries which boast equal opportunity and claim Muslims give no rights to women have yet to elect a woman to a federal leadership role. Women are the most under-represented group in U.S. Government.

I think it has more to do with genetics. Western men seem on the whole smarter than the women. I find it opposite in the semitic lands. The women over there seems to have more intellect and common sense than the men. If it wasn't for the men having greater physical strength,I believe they would have more women in power.

@onemarktwoyou Women do have a say in the government in several muslim-majority countries, so genetics aside, the fact of the matter remains that contrary to popular belief many women have achieved roles of leadership that are yet to be achieved in the west. I don't see any difference in the intellect of western men/women and eastern men/women. I have heard equally intelligent and unintelligent statements from both sides. Ofcourse nothing is perfect anywhere yet. Many injustices still occur. :)

The ancient Arabs were not looking at things numerically .In that era, a 15 years old man could lead an entire tribe into war but today in the west, the same man is " considered " a child. In the Arabian social norms, if you look mature then you are mature despite your age.

A woman in Islam despite her age, her father can marry her. However, the marriage can not be completed unless she accepted the marriage after reaching physical maturity . This is the ruling of the Prophet BTW

I found the Muslim sister to offer great scholarship. I was very dissappointment by the second speaker. I think her inability to conduct a scholarly discourse took much away from her overall discussion. She opened with a horrific flaw stating that marriage is for two and then proceeded to belittle the Prophet - the spiritual revelator of the other person's religion. That displayed her lack in spiritual diplomacy. Yet, she cannot use the bible to prove this- although I wish we could smh.

Where does she get her stats from? Couldn't it be argued that there is also a very high divorce/cheat rate in our non-Muslim countries, and so would it make sense to say that this is because non-Muslim men hate their mother-in-laws (who are also women)?

@2011AndrewD there is not too much to "debate" here. The things that the old testament in particular (atleast) associates to women is rather disturbing. There are good things too but over all it falls short of what Islam has given as a status to Women in the Islamic framework (in contrast to many muslim societies of this age).

Its more about what the bible says since we view Christians as people of the book, a respectable title in contrast to words like "infidel" (term used by Catholic church) which they think muslims associate with all Christians. These Christians on the other hand view Islam almost wholly through arab and turkish conflicts

@2011AndrewD well the Muslim and Byzantine conflict and than later the Turkish Europe Conflict was fully utlized by the Catholic church to demonize Islam and Muslims. When the latest pope was appointed for his position he also went and took what some rather random emperor had said far far back in time about Muhammad. Than I read from Christians who want to destroy ALL muslims because muslims ruler over them in eastern Europe. Western Europe has Historically been united against islam and muslims.
