dude i dont have an explorer.exe backup. i have windows 7 ultimate build 6.1.7600 build 7600 32 bit. if there's any chance u can upload ur original explorer.exe please gimme a link
Anyone who gets "Class not registered" is because the "explorer.exe" file is incompatible with 64-bit windows. Which I'm presuming you have if you get that error :P
@Spunkylorp don't know if you got it but, do this, go to (C: windows / explorer) and right click on explorer then go to security-advance-owner-edit chose administrator then go back to security now click edit chose your administrator account and check allow full control, and your done.
Do you know if there is a explorer.exe application that works across all windows platforms? I.e. It would work in windows xp, vista and 7? Thanks in adavance for any help.
Thanks, worked fine...

@Xaahu all you have to do to restore it is to open up cmd and type sfc /scannow. then it will restore the original explorer.exe. just wait for it.
