  • i definately wanna watch them on a live concert :)

  • Damn I can listen to this song all night long till I sleep.

  • Hot damn.... Scott hit this one out of the ballpark!!! Amazing performance guys! It gives me the chills and warms my heart and soul at the same time. Thank you for posting this vid. :-)

  • When did Owen Wilson learn to sing?

  • @GovernorSwarzenegger

Owen Wilson ain't got shit on Scott Leonard

  • They are great!!

  • Remarkable. I saw them live in the 90s and it was perhaps the greatest musical performance I've experienced. A great memory.

  • Im afraid.

  • Nononono. He didn't die, but he left the group awhile ago.

  • @tagurit2 wait he died?? when?

  • One of the most amazing songs ever. Love it.

  • Just as good as the Drifters. Awesome

  • guy with the blonde voice has the best pitched voice ever. its in the most perfect range.

  • bravo

  • Reminds so much of the Persuasions. . . ;-)

  • love the songs!

  • Look at that smile on Barry's face at 3:13 he looks soooooo handsome!

  • Put a beard on his ass and he would look like Shaggy!

  • I really wish that the sound on this one wasn't messed up. It has stereo for a split second when it starts and then goes straight to ONE speaker. This recording would be amazing with all it's sound, it's beautiful and, I think, the best version of Rockapella that there was!!!! Gorgeous, I could listen to it forever!

  • Strange I'm sure it used to be fine. But right now, just having sound in my left ear is irritating.

  • rockapella for life<3

  • Very smooth! LOVE Rockapella!

  • don' know much 'bout history. :D

  • maybe in english? i don't understand spanish

  • the percussionist looks like a vampire! those black clothes, the teeth... scary!

  • before mics were even invented, a singers voice had to be able to carry. And rockapella just demonstrated right there!

  • then what're those things on the beatboxer's neck? o_o

  • If I am seeing it right, it's a special type of microphone to pick up his voice and drum beats etc

  • they are called microphones....because he is a beat boxer, it picks it up better than a microphone strapped to his shirt.

  • Comment removed

  • 99% of singers' voices today can carry

  • and 80% of statistics are made up on the spot :)

not trying to be offensive, just giving you crap

  • He deserves it.

  • FANTASTIC!!

  • Now THIS is music. Human voice.

  • Anyone know what this is really called? cause i have the song Up on the roof by them but it doesn't have the second part, like the part where he sings about knowing about history, bio, slide ruler and what a wonderful world this would be

  • I believe it's called "Wonderful World"

  • they combined the two songs

up on the roof and wonderful world

  • this is a medley. combination of two songs. "up on the roof/what a wonderful world medley"

  • WOW! What a sound!

  • Wow. These guys are really great. I re-discovered Carmen Sandiego a while ago, and now I am in love with their sound.

  • who says u need a mic?

  • and what would be the name of that group?

  • the tone rangers

  • One of the most underrated and overlooked bands in our time. They're absolutely amazing!

  • @InVisible2U

    So are the two songs.

  • lol 0:19

  • Why is all of the sudden this only playing in one of my headphones? No other vid is doing this.

  • Probs a poor decoding.

  • That's a sign that this group is the best!

  • them and take 6 are the best a cappella groups in the business

  • dont leave out strait no chaser there awesome too

  • No sound.

  • and btw i like them 2 they are amazing!

    are they from usa?

    and are they signed?

  • yes and yes. They've been around for 20 years or more.

  • who are these guys i have never heard of them befir?

  • Simply beautiful.

  • Wat's on jeff's neck????

  • its a throat mic to pick up gutteral drum sounds he makes

  • does scott have one of those mini mics? evry1 else does!

  • this groups is super awesome!! i love them!! does anyone know if they are coming to san francisco anytime soon?!

  • To me, this is the best vocal lineup of Rockapella. All the songs from this user's concert are incredible!! Harmonies are incredibly tight and they way they should be!! I wish this lineup would get back together!

  • I'm glad they performed live. I hate it when bands perform dead. They did a good job of it.

  • Actually, Rockapella is the only band I know which performs well dead - familiar with Zombie Jamboree, by any chance?

  • AHHH they sang Wonderful World!

  • I prefer the Persaussions version of this tune

  • This version is better than the newer version they do.

  • i wish barry and elliott didn't leave the group :'(

  • a absolutely love this song, and this version is beautiful

  • It is sung like a church hymn but it is great!

  • Barry's bass voice i sone of the most distinctive in the industry. I was saddened when he left the group. Does any one know If he's still singing and with who????

  • he's mainly doing voice work for commercials now he will sing with the first famous lineup of Rockapella in July in NYC.You can find out more stuff on his website.

  • not to mention he'sthe Emcee at A capellastock held in Utah

  • These guys are great. Always been a fan.

  • The curly haired one reminds me of Pauly Shore.

  • that would be kevin.

  • Are they singing without the mic ?

  • yes.

  • wow

  • there's a mike above them....

  • this is the white boyz ii men

and the blond guy is the white wanya

  • i always listen to these guys when im feeling down. i used to do this stuff in high school. it was some of the best times of my life, on stage singing. but i love this version so much. one of my favs.

  • Stil fantastic as ever. I really need to go see these guys.

  • I would love to see them. Scott Leonard's voice is just fantastic!

  • OMG yay for insertion of Herman's Hermits... that's so dreamy!!!

  • Absolute best venue to see them in from Carmen days until Barry, Elliott, and Sean left was The Bottom Line in NYC. This song, in that place, would make grown men weep. The acoustics are astonishing.

  • Probably not an homage to the Nylons as the song involved was actually "Up the Ladder to the Roof", not "Up on the Roof".

But what a kick-ass job these guys do, on everything they do!

  • There is an apocryphal story about the Nylons performing in the 80's and their sound system dying. Supposedly the Nylons came to the front of the stage and sang "Up On The Roof" without microphones. The Nylons being such an influential group, I'm guessing that Rockapella does this in homage and because it is pretty cool.

  • I like that they dropped the mics and sang this one accoustically. My university had a nice small recital salon like this one, and I was in a qunitet that covered this song and this brings back nice memories of the guys and of falling in love with harmony. :) Nice 9 at the end, Scott!

Oh PS - I sing Barry notes! Not that well anymore, but I still have a good Eb all the time and Db most of the time. :)

  • a capella music is the most amaizng thing ever and these guys totally beast it

    love them!!!

  • doubt it

  • The best Rockapella video by far. :]

  • ...

  • lol that bass is a monster

  • lol hes beautiful

  • Wow... What I wouldn't give to sing as well as Scott Leonard. Barry is one of the strongest basses I've ever heard; equally awesome. This is probably my favorite Rockapella video ever.

  • he got chu there dawg

  • lol at the lip-syncing comment...it says in the comment of the vid that "This song is performed off-mic." how would he be lip-syncing? and how would you be in a world famous barbershop if you couldn't sing?

  • Soo good

  • Scott Leonard>

  • I love the faces Scott makes.

  • At 1:42 scott starts weaving lol so funny that will make some people sick

  • woah - the title and description didn't say anything about them changing songs midway through the video - i'm glad they did though - i love both these songs!

  • Scott Leonard kicks ASS!

  • Is this in Foy Hall of Moravian College?

  • Music Fest at Foy Hall

  • You are not mistaken IMBACK988. Up On The Roof and Wonderful World are always blended together when they are performed.

  • Yes, thank you for that. I have, however, heard versions of "Up on the Roof" by itself, performed by different bands, and (IMHO) better at that. But "Wonderful World" however, I really like when performed by this band, and it isn't that difficult to separate two songs with simple music editing programs. Maybe I should do just that, instead of asking for it.

  • I want to see the second song, "Wonderful World", on its own. If anyone can get me a link to a video of that by itself, or (even better) an mp3... I'd definitely appreciate it. Thank you.

  • Just goes to show that you don't need a mic to sound amazing!

  • I heard one song they sung on "where in the world is carmen Sandiego" the tune was set to Billy Joel's "for the longest time" but they named all the seas of the world. it was awesome. I have been wanting to find that song again. LOL!!

  • The song you're thinking of is Famous for their Banks.

  • Grandplans, that song is called "Famous for their banks and you can find it on youtube if you type "Rockapella- Famous For Their Banks" in a search.

  • Thanks, will look for it now

  • they look older than they sound but heyy its the talent the matters! they rock!

  • Your right BritBratz, the guys are getting older and the group has change members a few times but the amazing talent of these guys stay the same.

  • This and sitting in the docks of the bay are my favs songs.

  • Mean!

  • Leonard's son is on drumline with me, I have met the Leorard!

  • Cool

  • The new members are incredible. I actually think the new tenor is better than the old, and the new bass is amazing - different from the old guy, but incredible.

  • I totally agree. I heard them in Pasadena and the new tenor has an amazing voice.

  • John (the new tenor) is a pretty cool guy with an amazing voice, and George (the new bass) is really good too. I know a lot of people prefer Barry Carl (seen in this video), but George brings a whole new tone to the group. The line up of guys has been, is, and will always be incredible.

  • I hope to see them live some time. They are great!! Loved them since I saw them on Carmen Sandiego as a kid. I know the members change around...but anyways they are all amazing.

  • BARRY CARL IS A BEAST :O

crazy bass singers -_-, he just had to leave

  • B. Carl is out of the ordinary.Simply Phenomenal...

  • these guys are amazing adimin a group called men of note in jersey n we r really good check us out

  • I just discovered them... where in the world have I been? it's like singing in the rain! it's like heaven...

  • C. Scott Leonard is the most in tune, in control,Vocalist In the world. It's amazing to me that people like Justin Timberlake sell Millions of Albums, when preformers like Mr. Leonard Exist.

  • i agree with you..Leonards got one of the best voices ive ever heard.he is a beast in ILL HEAR YOUR VOICE.

  • OMG

  • The best way I had ever heard this song and I am a singer myself I can tell a hit when I hear one and boy Sam Cooke would be happy to let you guys redo his songs.

  • absolutely amazing.. some people are just blessed with good voices and harmonizing capabilities. these guys are just WOW i saw them twice in concert. damn

  • I did not like this song too much a time ago... now it is my favorite... I dont know why...

  • i absolutely love rockapella. i got hooked on it from the 1st time i heard them :)

  • i just wanted to say that i dont usally like songs like this but this is amazing i have to say so myself

  • I totally love the bass sound... I think the lead singer looks a bit arrogant however... Probably doesn't want to but I think he does :P

  • wow simply wow

  • what a song, I love how they change the melody its ace. Nice one guys.

  • dude if you don't make a face while you're singing, it's goin to be a dull performance. He's just puttin on a show thass all!

  • These guys are the best, I love watching their videos, everyone ive watched i have really enjoyed.. This is one of my favourites.. But nothing beats their cover of stand by me, that is absolutely brilliant. And i really like Pretty Women, Coz its really fun, they make people smile all the time. They all have wicked voices, they should be so proud, The bass guy is wicked! sorry dont know names, and the beat box guy fucking brilliant, i dunno how he does it.. SOO GOOOOD!!!.. [x] Rockapella [x] <33

  • In this line up.... C.Scott Leonard (High Tenor), Kevin Wright (Tenor), Elliott Kerman (Baritone), Barry Carl (Bass), and Jeff Thacher (Vocal Percussionist).

  • I believe that Kevin is from Winter Haven Fla. that's right up the road from here

  • Yeah he is. He and his wife Amy own a dance studio in Winter Haven. "Wright Step School of Dance".

  • yeah? sweet!!!

  • those faces that everyone says he needs to stop making is him feeling the music...he's not just singing...he's being consumed by an amazing song/performance/expirience...as far as im concerned, more power to him...it sounds amazing. Keep the faces coming.

  • Scott Leonard??? Oh Yes C. Scott Leonard IIII

  • my select chorus is doing this tomorow and this song is a freakin classic.

    talk about a GREAT song

  • OMGOODNESS ! One of my absolutely favorite songs from these guys <3

  • This is a remake lol its not "their song" lol

  • most of them are.

  • I know I was responding to fcukerr.

  • Rockapella's just amazing.

  • the faces he makes? lol Last I checked all artists had their own way of expressing themselves in a song and one expression over another doesn't make them sing any better or worse. Rockapella's main focus when performing is to make their audience smile and entertain. They accomplish that every time.

  • Jeff can sing his ass off , I've heard sing a few songs , and yeah....he can sing like mad , he needs to work on the faces he makes and his vowels , but aside from that...he sings very well.

  • I always look forward to them singing off mic.

  • When I got married last summer, the "Wonderful World" part by Rockapella was my "walk down the isle" song. Melts my heart everytime I hear it.

  • scott leonard looks like... owen wilson meets an old baseball glove

  • haha! i hate to admit it but its true

  • thanks for upload this video i love this the first part "up on the roof" many emotion with it p.s. someone had another video it sounds a little better but now its not in here maybe u got it and upload it thx

  • There should be more songs when Jeff sings, I can just barely pick his voice out of the clips a few times and he has a beautiful voice.

  • I thought I read somewhere that Jeff lip-syncs... =/ If he does sing, I'd really like to hear him solo on a non-percussion song.

  • SolarBlade00, Jeff does not lip-sync. When they perform songs with him on stage and there is no percussion involved he acually sings tenor but he doesn't solo. Percussion is his thing and although he has a beautiful singing voice, it just wouldn't be Jeff if his solo wasn't beatboxing.

  • You can hear Jeff sing a very brief solo on their version of "Tempted", which you can watch hear on youtube. Jeff sings the line "I said it's no occasion" right after Elliot and just before Barry.

  • your right and your wrong. when they sing in concert if there is no percussion jeff does sing or leaves the stage. he does pretend to sing when the sing the national anthem or something like that for a baseball game or something just so you have the whole group there. also if you look up the song peace on earth here on you tube you can hear jeff sing lead. it is a song he and a friend wrote together

  • Well what do you know? Jeff's got a great voice. Thanks for the link, mjs5168, that's exactly the kind of video I was looking for!

  • If you look at his lips, he appears to be singing high tenor (see 2:57), which would make sense because their normal high tenor is singing the lead (assuming he's not lip-syncing the part, of course)

  • Rockapella does not lip-sync. Watch the veins on necks, the Adam's Apples, the vibrations of their throats and the veins in their necks (especially Scott). I think acapella sounds are the hardest to lip-sync. You gotta do it live. Plus, remember the youtube curse of audio/video syncing problems.

  • how do lips tell you what part he's singing?? he's singing the echo, cause he doesn't say the whole phrase

  • you can hear one voice singing a high-floating tenor, and his lips match up with it.

  • well ya cause they sing the same part, if your not the lead then your the echo, they all sing the same thing, lower notes don't travel as well as high ones and thats what you hear more of...
