...i love this ideas! ...new technique comes up... you think of what you can do with it, and then you have one of this ideas... like mountainswoop a parachute, land a wingsuit, jump off 120 000 feet in a space suit, flying a wingsuit proximity to a wall or to a flying glider.... yeah :D greets from austria

until man can stay in the air unassisted and with out falling i fail to be impressed..its all falling just some looks cooler than others..building a giant bird like suit and ride thermals would be impressive
I don't believe that's ever truly happened yet. we can only get to the very edge of the universe [still caught by gravity but no one alive has ever ventured into pure space ...moon landing never done again by any nation is enough proof I think :)
Man, do you have ANY idea on how hard that stunt is? Wingsuit skydiving takes years to learn, what Loic Jean Albert does it simply the most intense stunts ever. No its not just "falling".
@druevin You are right indeed, just to be able to take up wingsuit skydiving, you need LICENCE D at least 200 jumps a year and 50 wingsuit jumps a year, otherwise you are not able to wear it for the next season.
@METALSKYDIVER thats pretty much it. In norway we have just 1 rule: 200jump last 18months and a quick jumpcourse. You do wingsuit yourself? I just ordered a phantom2z :D
It lands a lot like an airplane. The pilot touches down on the big wheel, placed near the pilot's seat, and then the glider goes across the ground, with the spoilers up, till its forward speed is wasted.
One does not 'land' a glider, one keeps soaring as long as possible and when the time is right the ground will simply come up from underneath and land itself gently under glider's wheel.
Only joking, like many small aircraft you fly a U shaped circuit around the landing site and make it bigger and smaller as you go so that as you line up on final approach you are exactly where you need to be. A glider can literally be landed onto a preselected dandelion with a good pilot, well just about :)
Just like a plane, its got ailerons, flaps, air brakes, elevators and a rudder..basic flight control surfaces. All traditional straight winged aircraft generally have high stability at low speeds. A swept winged aircraft like a fighter, on the other hand, has no stability at low speed, so it needs thrust to keep it airborne, and the flight conrol surfaces are much much bigger and usually more advanced. Most commercial planes have slightly swept wings but they all act like gliders without thrust.
Pure Awesomeness!!!! I've had two skydivers jump out of the back of a 2-32 I was piloting (maybe I shouldn't have admitted that) but that was lame compared to this. Anyone know what glider this is?
WOW! skill from both the pilot and the jumper... i have alot of time for videos like that. So what are speeds invloved, obviously the wingsuit dramatically decreases the downward terminal velocity.. anyone actually know how fast he is falling?

i'm not sure about elevation, that would take intense thermals, but I've seen videos of no verticle drop so maybe.
SheepStone101 3 years ago
Is it possible for a wingsuit jumper to catch thermals and elevate like a glider?
